Basically they admitted that taking (2) rookie(s) as a driver was dumb of them. They need someone who gets them consistently in the points so they can make money before they can focus on a development program. It's a totally logical decision

@G Marz you say that likes it's obvious, however I've never known anyone count the sprints and your data doesn't reflect that as kev would have three more wins, so idk if you just can't count or you're trying to retroactively come up with an excuse for being wrong. I mean "he's proven at best he's on par with the least reliable driver in the lower midfield" not sure how you read driver as the car or the Haas team, but hey ho maybe I should of written key words in capitals so you can understand that's on me for not realising you can't read. And yeah you can only compare him against his teammate. He didn't do enough to show he was significantly better than a guy who was out of practice and they didn't think was good enough in his prime and worth the massive contract his management was demanding. They've ultimately got a better driver on less money, not sure where the issue is beyond the name or the fact Hulk isn't a young prospect (but then again neither is mick, kid hasn't shown he's a future champ and is only a year younger than stroll) You say mick performed and kmag didn’t, but in reality both underperformed, and both could of been replaced. If kmag didn’t have a contract for next year he’d probably be gone as well in all honesty. (Plus not sure how you can say mick performed and kev didn’t when points alone show that’s bs. Kev isn’t a consistent driver (we’ve known this since he first came to f1) but on his day was clearly comfortably ahead of mick at his best)

Vor 2 Monate
G Marz
G Marz

@El cactus de la muerte it's including sprint races 🤦‍♀️ Sure you were talking about KMag haha. Nice try The only way you can judge a driver is against his teammate and Mick beat KMag, the only reason KMag got results is the first couple of races of the season the car had decent pace. And as Alonso, and the Hulk and several drivers have shown, being up to F1 standard, and then taking a year out is nowhere near the same as coming from F2. As Nyck De Vries showed had a great race, but ached all over. It is a different level. And Mick has shown in lower formulas it takes him a season or two to get up to pace. Is he his father.... obviously not, but compared to the other newbies he has been performing at the correct standard. So yes F1 is cutthroat, but he performed and KMag didn't.... which brings us nicely back to the original point, Mick should have been kept over KMag.

@JK Visions and why the fuck does FIA not allow donuts? I honestly never heard that... That's just beyond ridiculous.

Vor 2 Monate
Just my Profilename
Just my Profilename

@JK Visions It's one of the FIA rules which the FIA doesn't apply since years, and it won't cost Haas any money, because if the FIA would for the first time give a fine for this, it would be a fine for the driver, not the team. And Mick brought the 1&1 Sponsorship to the team, how many other big Sponsor's are there on the car that aren't "Haas"? Besides, last year Haas was too narrow-minded to just copy the "Z-floor-cutout" (without any costs, literally a cutout) which all other 9 times successfully adapted. That left them with an intrinsically extremely oversteery car and miserable setup compromises to counter this. But they complaint both drivers would spin too often, sometimes with crashes. Pretty sure Gunther would have spun the car in the pitlane if he had dared to try driving it. But somehow a year in a sh*tbox of a car should have been enough to beat an experienced driver like K-MAG (which Mick more often than not did from Silverstone onwards). In favor of Haas regarding the donuts: they probably just wanted to show to the FIA that they reminded Mick to there's a no-donut-policy. But they could have said it in a less harsh sounding way, also for their own sake, to avoid the backslash they are now getting.

He won a lot of championships, including the F2 before arriving to F1, he's won more championships than some that are on F1 right now, I think he's proved he has driving talent. Try yourself and we'll see what happens. In my opinion what Haas did with him was unacceptable. Saying he costs them millions and scouting Hülkenberg that has proven a lot of times that he also crashes a lot and commits a lot of mistakes as well, that's why he's the driver with the most races without a podium. Yes, that's nonsense. THAT'S nonsense, not Mick costing them millions. All drivers cost millions to their teams, are we going to ignore that? Mick should've asked his team before doing donuts. Just that simple. All the hate to Haas is unfounded. Many of you are just mad because mick got cut. I'll tell you this, Ferrari & Haas have 1st hand data on Mick hence why they both cut him, so unless any of you have car data that you can share, you have no ground to criticize. Can you imagine the backing from the Schumacher name and the influence they have? Trust me, I'm confident that had Mick had another last name he wouldn't have been in f1 in 2022. @AntiVaganzathing is tho they replace him with nico who sure is a proven but that’s their best option? He’s 35 so he’s not really a good long term driver. Plus this was nicks first proper season with a car that’s competitive with other cars so it’s strange of haas to have 0 lead way for such an inexperienced driver but they can regret their decisions later on.

Kinda get the feeling HAAS were going to let him go, regardless of what he did this season. He wasn't allowed to pass KMag in Austria when he was quicker, always put him on awful strategies. Every time he was beating KMag he suddenly got put back. I know Mick hasn't helped himself but HAAS have done bad this season with him too.

@Giorgio M Wow, interesting. You are likening him to Max cuz of the crashing. Here's another one, Maldanado crashed a lot, too. So did Mazepin. What you left out of your Max comparison is that Max, whilst being slightly erratic in the beginning, always showed super peaks. Demolished most of his team mates. That quite important part is what's missing with Mick. And nah, I am not even a Max fan, I am however a big fan of logical thinking.

Haas are one of those F1 teams where every penny counts. It's evident in every decision they make. Mick is too expensive for them, with little financial reward to show for it. This is more evidence to show they're looking after their parts. Seems a bit silly really, are they really going to be reusing that engine/gearbox in 2023? Good move for both parties to go their own ways. Hopefully we see MSC back in F1 soon.

I'm so glad he left haas honestly, dude needs a year to reset and find a team that will respect him for the talent that he has. Do I think he'll be as good as his dad, absolutely not, but he's his own driver and deserves to be in F1, that Haas team just blamed their inconsistency on him

I feel so bad for him. I met him multiple times while he was in F2 and he was the sweetest guy. He improved so much during the second half of the season but Haas gave him such terrible strategies and that car is a disgrace. I hope he can get a 3rd driver seat in either Mercedes or Ferrari even though he left the FDA) and eventually come back in 2024 with a more competitive and serious team. Forza Mick🫶🏻🤍

To all you guys hating on Haas for firing Mick. How about coming to your senses and accepting the fact that they gave him two full seasons to prove himself. Even Ferrari dropped him from their talent program. Half of you like to think the team sabotaged him. What?! It makes no sense at all. Everyone; fans, sponsors, Merc, Ferrari, Haas, F1, FIA, you, I, everyone with a heart wanted the success story to happen. It didn't. Sadly for the simple reason he wasn't fast and consistent enough. If he was, another team would have signed him last year or now. And don't say they couldn't sign him this year because Steiner was too slow in making up his mind. Besides Vettel talking him up to Aston, there has been no stories or rumors of any team seriously wanting him in a race seat. Please trust the data engineers in every team who drive these decisions/deliberations. With that name and that humble personality many teams and their sponsors would have loved him - if he had just been that much faster... Ask yourself if it had been a dude from Malaysia with a name you had no emotional connection to, would you really think he had been hard done being let go after two seasons?

Vor 2 Monate
AntiVaganza
AntiVaganza

@Zeeshan Ajmal I was nice in my last post. Honestly, I think you are way, way past speculation: You have zero basis for your theory on why Danny Ric didn't want to be with Haas. It's evident from his own statements from the very beginning that he only ever wanted a good race seat towards the front and if he couldn't get that, he was open to a reserve role while he took a year off recharging his batteries. He has been very clear in that for months by now. Also, if you truly know the sport, you would know that Hulkenberg, despite his sad longest-run-without-a-podium record, and a few hickups under pressure is generally very highly regarded in the paddock and had a stellar junior career. He may not have the speed of Ric but he is no slouch and by all accounts, he actually really wanted that seat. Maybe he's a masochist? Or maybe it's not the toxic hell hole you are trying so hard to make it out to be? So, keep twisting the few known almost-facts like most of you in this thread. While denying the real reason Mick is gone: He isn't yet good enough and Haas couldn't afford to wait for him to - maybe - get better. Simple as that. Everyone knows Steiner is hardcore but I am pretty sure if Mick had not been a Schumi kid, you wouldn't react like you all have.

You guys have to understand that it is not because of him and the team not wanting him to do donuts and have a bit of fun. It's because of the politics and rules. You generally aren't allowed just to do donuts whenever and everywhere you want on a race track. It needs approval beforehand. Donuts of race-cars do huge damage to the tarmac and potential paintings which cost a lot of money to repair. Also the tyres are being analysed after each race and given back to Pirelli.
