@Christian if only stats could explain everything in the game, Draymond Green would surely be considered as a mild average player. Same thing for Isiah Thomas and Magic Johnson.

I wasn't a Jordan fan back in the day as a teen. He denied all my players of the 90s that I supported from achieving glory.. He was so damn good. Played the big moments like no one else... That ability to levitate and almost change decision and survey his options in mid air I have never comprehended... People can argue statistics to make claims for other players, but his overall record and aura has this guy in a universe all his own... What a player....!
Vor 2 yearsD C
Theres a reason MJ never got beat and accomplished everything he did in his career. It wasn’t just his scoring like all the tv jackasses try to convince people of these days.He can’t be atop all those advanced stats and win 6 titles while being undefeated in the process if all he did was run around trying to score points! And those stats aren’t just about offense either...he’s an all-time great defensive player as well and is atop advanced defensive stats too.Lebron is nowhere close in the defensive comparison either. Everybody always tried to act like lebron was this magically amazing versatile defender because of 3 defensive highlights in his career (bet y’all know the plays im talking about too) and yet he’s only made 6 all def 1st teams in 18 seasons. Which obviously means he hasn’t been elite defensively for 2/3 of his career/12 seasons and that’s just at his own position lol... I don’t know how people claim him to be an all-time great versatile defender with that as his defensive resume.
Vor 2 MonateD C

Man, this is just a master class of offensive basketball. The style of shooting, the jab steps, the passing, cross-overs, reverse lay-ups. Everything. Very nicely edited too. Looking at MJ in his prime, it's as if a team of scientists genetically engineered the perfect basketball player and let him loose in the NBA.

It's amazing how Jordan had quite different phases of his career and dominated in each one. Just in a different way. Early on he was relentlessly aggressive, then here he was just an all around master of the game, then the second 3 peat he toned the physical aggressiveness down and was more of a cerebral force, It's like he adapted and evolved in ways that enabled him to stay at the apex of basketball for so long. His career was just an incredible display of greatness.

In the 2nd three peat there were economy of movements. No wasted effort. MJ said that what he lacked in physical prowess (1st retirement and his baseball body) he resorted to better outside shooting but still he attacked the basket consistently. He's Michael anyway.
Vor 4 yearsmikem987
Michael L I agree. He was waaaaaay better, the first repeat. He was still great the second three peat, but he was almost a different player. Kind of strange how different he was. He got older, but there was something intangible that left his, game in his comeback. It seems the drop off shouldn't have been as extreme. He was still great, but this version was transcendent.

Main reason for Jordan being considered as the goat from those who saw him live, and those who have taken the time to study film, is the fact that he was the goat. Look at this shit, this is beyond absurd. He guarded the much bigger Magic Johnson for 7/10s of the series (dont believe the bullshit that Pippen took that task, watch the full games), picking him up FULL COURT. I shit you not, he was pressing Magic fucking Johnson from one basket the other for the whole series. He was drawing double and tripple teams for the whole series and throwing laser beam passes to his teamates under the basket, averaging more than 11 assists per game. ACTUAL ASSISTS, as in giving the ball to his teamates under the basket to lay it in uncontested (not passing it to someone 35ft from the basket to make a defended 3....). He was scoring in everyway possible with his right, with his offhand, midrange, longrange, in the paint, posting up, off the ball, off the dribble, crossing over with the left, crossing over with the right, stepping back, beating a double team, beating a tripple team, beating four at once, averaging 31 ppg (bare in mind Bulls were scoring 100 ppg, compared to today where they score 120 in the finals) and as much as the next two Bulls (Pippen and Grant) on fucking 56% AS A TWO GUARD. He was making all the clutch shots, including the one that tied game 3 over Divac. On top of that, he scored *13 consecutive baskets in a game* (all time NBA Finals record). And of course, as per usual, he provided us with highlights for all time (as the famous reverse hand lay up). And he did all that, with the outmost finesse. This is beyond absurd, this is unfathomable. The level of activity, of stamina (there is nobody today that could defend someone basket to basket for a whole series, let alone do that and combine it with what Jordan did offensively), of efficiency, of leadership, of artistry, of skill, of imagination, all combined and manifested at the max and leading to victory. If Jordan hadnt happened, one couldn have imagined it was possible to play basketball like that. If film wasnt available, descriptions couldn do it justice.

Vor 9 MonateWildstar
@welder77 jorge it’s rigged. Cavs down 1-3 vs GS. That series was a rap. They knew that would destroy James’s brand and the NBA without a head. What happened? They suspended Green for BS foul. GS stopped taking good shots for the next 12 quarters. You can’t tell me that GS couldn’t pull one game of the next 3 to close it. The first 3 games were even close. So how can the tide turn that badly. James didn’t dropped 40-50 the next 3 games. There were more games rigged like throughout the years.
Vor yearWildstar
The games were more personal back then compared to now. It’s a joke now. You got cats getting paid millions and not taking care of the body. Gianis and James are a few super stars that actually take care themselves. They even load management and lesser games the last two years and injuries everywhere. Pathetic. There’s no fire like you mentioned. Look at Davis and Irving’s eyes next time at the podium. Brothers look like they out too late or just lit something. lol

This was the very start of the summer before my freshman year of high school. I taped each game on the vcr and literally spent every single day that summer watching each game and pausing and rewinding play after play from Jordan. I did it so much the vcr tapes wore out. I would do chair sits in my room the entire time I watched with the chair close enough to push vcr buttons and then when I couldn't wait any longer would run directly outside and practice the moves over and over for a couple hours then go right back in to watch and do chair sits. I didn't just do this for a week or two but the ENTIRE summer. My mom thought I was crazy. That was until school started and that Oct basketball started. I made varsity and ended up starting after a couple games and went on to be the all-time leading scorer at my high school and held the record from 1996 to around 2011 or so. I also ended up having around a 40 inch vertical from all those chair sits. For the young ones reading every word of this is true and if you want something bad enough just know you can usually get it with nothing more than sheer work and determination. Thanks for posting. I have not seen these in years and watching brought back some incredible memories and emotions. Michael Jordan in this series embodies the closest anyone will ever get to a perfect basketball player. Coming up during his playing days was a gift to not only future athletes but fans alike.

Agreed. All you have to do is listen to the hall of famers he played against and even coaches like Krzekshexski and Bobby Knight. They ALL (some begrudgingly) concur he's the greatest they've ever seen.

@ricosauve5 absolutely. also think about his absolute determination in most game. compare this to a guy like lebron. haha, it's ridiculous
Vor 6 yearsricosauve5
@axlrosea675 there will always be people trying to say how some other guy is better. But what they don't realize is how jordan dominated not just on offense, but on defense. He's one of the greatest players ever just on defense. Then add his lethal offensive game it's insane. I hate how people talk about jordan and just mention offense when they try and say who's better. That man dominated on defense to. Steals, blocks you name it.

@ricosauve5 exactly. every time i think someone else is better, i re-watch vids of Jordan. then i realize once again: he was and is in a league of his own. here's where the proverbial insight really is correct.

Game 2 of that series is maybe the most efficient individual finals performance ever. 13 straight field goals, the last one of which was the impossible (for humans, not MJ) mid air hand switch.🐐

So many memories looking at this. I remember watching the Finals in the living room with my sisters.

What I used to love about the Bulls & Pistons of 80's & 90's was it didn't matter if an opponent came onto their homecourts and beat them, because they would usually go to their homecourt and win all 3 games and close out the series, totally humiliating in front of your own homecourt!!!

Huge MJ fan, great edit.

Michael Jordan IS THE GOAT!!! There are a lot of great players now, but they are not on MJ's level! I'm not saying anything against LeBron James, Steph Curry, Kevin Durant, Allen Iverson, Kobe Bryant, or Giannis, they are all great players, but MJ is in a class by himself!
