I hope you enjoyed my attempt to connect all the pieces between Commercial Crew, Starship, Artemis, and human Mars missions. What are you most excited to see in spaceflight this decade? Do you think the timelines presented here are too optimistic, or will the frantic pace of Starship development eclipse all expectations? As always, looking forward to reading your thoughts! Ryan

@Enoch 13th How did god give you rights ? Because all you can really say , is they are idea's in your head. Which if you don't find agreement with others about them. Then eventually you will bump up against some one elses idea of what rights god gave them. History shows us , these can be radically different and destructive. And the people who do find agreement amongst themselves , will have power over you because they created something that is greater than the sum of it's parts.

I have looked at a lot of videos about colonizing the moon & Mars. And I haven't found any with my same ideas. I think we should set up a moon colony on earth. We should have inflatable domes, which we cover with 3D printers with simulated moon mortar. The domes should be connected to each other by inflatable tunnels covered with simulated moon mortar. There should be living quarters, hydroponic green houses, gardens with garden soil for recreational gardening, a 5 acre pasture with one inch of garden soil and one inch of grass turf, a park with artificial turf and with small sections of real grass turf, and maybe even a very small zoo. All the domes will have plastic floors so no water is lost. Condensation forming on the ceilings will be drained into the water supply. All the domes will be blown up with compressed air from earth and will have a refresh system, which will refresh the air and maintain the air pressure. Humidity, Temperature will be maintained by humidifiers, heaters, fans and coolers. Light will be provided by multi-color LEDs, mostly white. Power will be supplied at first by solar power, and later by nuclear or fusion power. There will be a bull, a cow, two sheep, and two goats, two chickens, two turkeys, two fish, and two rabbits. There will also be pets, two dogs, two cats, two bunnies, etc. (and maybe a small zoo) All of this will be set up by astronauts and robots before the colonist arrive. The first colonist will be 5 fathers and 5 mothers, and 90 babies. The parents will be good parents, gardeners, farmers, zoo keepers, teachers, etc.. During the first two years an exact duplicate facility will be built on the moon. When the babies are two years old, they will move to the moon and live on the moon. Or if it is proven that they will be too young to travel to the moon than the facility on earth will be added to, to accommodate 10 more parents and 90 more babies. The two year olds would move into the new addition. Every two years the facility will be either added to, or 100 people will move to the moon. This plan will allow the kids to grow up in the isolation of the colony, and will make it easier for them to live in the isolation of the colony on the moon. And will allow them to grow up on the moon and be better able to adjust to the lower gravity on the moon, although some artificial gravity maybe eventually provided. This artificial gravity will especially be good for the parents. The kids will have everything in the facility to keep them occupied and entertained. Also they could have some books, movies, games, etc., especially adapted for them, being careful not to give them anything that would make them feel isolated. After 20 years there could be 2000 people living on the moon, most of whom grew up on the moon. This program could be speeded up so in 20 years there could be 4000, 6000, or 8000 people living on the moon. This program could be simultaneously done to colonize Mars so we could have 2000 people on the Moon and Mars at the same time. For the moon we could send supplies every month, but for Mars we could only send supplies every 26 months. So I suggest we send 10, 20, or 30 rockets to Mars every 26 months all at the same time. We could have several refueling stations along the way to mars and orbiting mars so rockets could refuel along the way to mars and right before landing on mars so the empty rocket would have enough fuel to take off again, refuel in space and return to Earth. Eventually the colonist could grow trees, bamboo, and other plants for raw materials that could be used for making things. Eventually the moon and Mars could export minerals or small expensive items that were assembled on the moon or Mars, like jewelry, iphones, iwatches, etc. Or grown on the moon like caviar, marijuana, etc.

We should prioritize building out the international space station or adding commercial space stations. I think having 1 station is best, since separate commercial stations seems wasteful & may increase risk while decreasing the savings & synergy associated with hybrid government- commercial activities). Building out the space station(s) will make tourism much more attractive. There needs to be a large ship & accommodations to allow a sort of cruise ship voyage into space. This way they'll be able to carry enough people that missions can be crowdsourced by those who want to go. At the current cost of $50 million, there's a very small market for space tourism. What's worse, spending that amount of money on tourism of any sort would likely draw major criticism. Consider the projects those funds could support to enhance life on earth, e.g., developing better solar energy infrastructure & methods of safely disposing of spent rods, the waste produced by nuclear energy. Anyone with $50 million to spare should spend it on those endeavors

Russia can participate. But China can't. for military reason . Which is only a disguised to keep China from challenging America which is really a benefit to them. Because they wouldn't be now putting up their own space station .and the same goes for micro chip boycott . which spurs them to be independent of US chip. to the detriment of us companies lost of profits

I'm a devotee of space research, having been a member of L5, the Planetary Society, etc. But, given the 100's of times harder to reach Mars than the Moon, Martian interest is misplaced. Instead of going to Mars, a place with no energy to sustain us, let's go back to the Moon, stay, and make it good. Just looking up at night and knowing we're there will cheer us all. That gigantic telescope on the Far side of the Moon in a crater (like Arecibo) will allow us to detect not planets, but intelligent life, or any life, on these planets. Now that's a worthy goal...

I have a way, better way. To fly in space. A vehicle is saucer shapped and works on the corialous affect. The drive is a sphear of spining mercury with one set of tesla generater coils, around the equatorial circomphrence of spheare. One coil on trasperant quartz crystal sheare filled with mercury, the other in a capaciter of aluminium, around center bell housing. Pairing with the one on thesphere. This coil is the pick up, the curent is fed in to the electrical system, that turns the starter generaters. Starter generaters are constanly powered on. Powerd by externall power cells. The rotater moters are in the vacume chamber. The sphear is susppended at the north pole and south poll, by a two paired set of magnets. The north set has north pointing outward from bell haousing, the south pole set has north pointing outward from bell haousing. Thrust comes from 1,000 kelvin microwave oven thrust chamber. The ship has three hooped drone rings, that are tolloroiding around the saucer ship, with saucer ship in dead center of dounut affect. The rings concave on them selves, then expand outwards again, to creat and compllete the toloroide cycle automosly. while in FDL drive mode. Non FDL propolssion has the drone hoops following allong in a static formation, all at equal distance away from the next, creating a ribbed tunnle drive mode, the rings are under their own simillar energy and mirowave oven thrust systems. Only the ionized field around saucer ship is circular and the ring drones project a ionized outward tunle affect being projectable in a uni directional field, directly outward ,due to spacific polorized side of the rings. This is the inonized field slip current. Thus the speeds are parallable for all vehicles, no matter in what configuration the drive mode is, FDL, or lower. Yours Joel Ramirez Ramirez.

This is all fantastic and I respect that most of it is financed by the private sector all to get humans to the moon and mars and for near earth services . But we humans will never be able to live for extended amounts of time in any of these places because of the lack or lesser gravity and the very negative effects this has on our earthly bodies. This problem seems to be on the back burner or it maybe it needs to be explained more to the general public on how they plan to address this serious issue.

It really comes down to one set of people under one leader. As far as America doing it, this is not really true. It comes down to a subject that needs to be raised. The comment " make America great again, misses out an important statement, that being " make America great again at anyone elses exspence", Space X seems to be the fall guy in all of this as everything depends on their ability not N.A.S.A. As far as any other company, the only one mentioned as yet cannot built their planes to operate properly, not a good advert for space travel and as proven, they are apped to cut corners to make a profit, wbhich is something that is a certain no no for space travel as safety has got to be the top word in all this, plus if anything turns out to be wrong with Mars and its not the right place to thinkmof living on then all those people have got to be bought back safely again.

Sending humans to Mars is such a COLOSSAL waste of time & money & resources & for SUCH a TRIVIALLY INSIGNIFICANT UNIMPORTANT COMPLETELY UNNECESSARY benefit: for the mere entertainment value of a couple of billionaires to take a long trip to another planet & die there. And, no: we should NOT force nonconsenting animals to go into space, either! You think Electric Sun/Electric Universe/SAFIRE/Plasma Cosmology, Hyperloop, Water Seer, "cold fusion" are massively money wasting time wasting bullshit-producing scams or hoaxes or downright scientifically proven impossibilities or mathematically proven economic disasters, the delusion of humans setting up civilization on the moon or Mars is ORDERS of magnitude WORSE. Manned space fanatics need to think PRACTICALLY MATHEMATICALLY for once: QUANTIFY the MAGNITUDE of costs and benefits & ESPECIALLY QUANTIFY EXACTLY WHO will receive these benefits and WHO will pay those costs and WHEN. NONE of this manned space crap will have ANY benefit for 99.999% of humanity except for whatever set of humans exists in 1000 years. It will have ZERO benefit to fighting Anthropogenic Global Warming (AGW), reversing all the CO2 we've forced into the air. It will have ZERO benefit for MILLIONS of PRISONERS , both human & nonhuman, suffering away in prisons & in factory farms. It will have ZERO benefit putting an end to the factory farming holocaust mass murdering breeding & torture & murder industry. It will have ZERO benefit to bionanotechnology to bring the dead back to life. It will have ZERO benefit to proving theorems & solving an infinitude of unsolved math conjectures. It will have ZERO benefit to the fight for drug choice freedom & abortion rights freedoms. It will have ZERO benefit to the DESPERATELY needed mass scaleup of carbon capture & geoengineering projects to reverse AGW. It will have ZERO benefit to the cause of replacing 2 billion gasoline powered cars with electric cars & trucks, & a million gasoline stations with electric charging stations, and coal powered electric generating plants with solar farms or windfarms or fusion reactors. Seriously: WHOM will it POSSIBLY benefit OTHER than the billionaire getting a long boring ride to another gigantic rock, & EXACTLY HOW & EXACTLY WHY could it be done ONLY by sending somebody back to the moon or to Mars & NOT some other way?

I feel like a surface-based martian society isn't as good of an idea as a subterranean one. Stone can provide protection against radiation, and supply building material for martians. As for the necessary sunlight, it could be reflected into the base by large arrays of mirrors, akin to a solar farm on earth. From there, it can be dispersed across the city for all of it's uses. This could potentially allow sunlight to be concentrated to make up for the lack of sunlight on mars compared to the earth. Mars doesn't have that many earthquakes, so there'd be little threat against large underground structures.

These flights to the Moon, Mars ect., would be more appreciated if T.P.T.B. got the problems here sorted out 1st before heading into space. And god knows there`s enough to deal with on Planet Earth.

Unless there's a major technological advance in propulsion , how do we expect to carry more than just a few people with flimsy shelters all the way to Mars - where there are no easily accessible resources? It seems like we're unaware of how dependent we are on machinery, which takes other machines to build, and required other machines to extract the materials, and lots of people in various interdependent industries, and so on...How would we ever get beyond a few people in enclosures surviving on hydroponic foods (assuming we are. able to obtain water in sufficient amounts)? My father worked at KSC on the Gemini, Apollo, and Space Shuttle programs-I'm proud of what he and his co-workers accomplished ...BUT I think this program is a huge waste of resources for a meager, unrealistic goal..Is this just desperate attempt to escape a wrecked earth- by going to a "dead" planet? I like deserts, but I wouldn't want to live on Mars..I think this is just a money game. Science should be hyper focused on the problems we face here and now...

Mars also has alot of key recources needed for a human civilization and water is very plenty.

Well currently most of the driving force of this is science, which shouldn't just be focused on our planet,. For the colonization folk its mainly for backup incase an extinction level event happens on Earth.

It seems like Elon/SpaceX have thought of everything except.... Not once have I heard any mention of what to do when little green men show up with their Implosion blasters, wipe out all Humans, steal the spaceship and head for EARTH!!! just a thought, got to have an open mind when messing about with things that haven't been messed about with before!! 👽🛸🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿😁😷

Yea your a general public person i assume. We aren't going to mars to escape earth, barely anyone thinks that. We are going to set up a new branch of civilization and make insure our survival incase a extinction level event happens

When a planet has energy stored up that creates a magnetic field, the storage of energy in that planet creates a magnetic field but Mars don't have a magnetic field not even a little that means its baron it's a dead planet if nasa is going there to build it up that might be a bad idea NASA would need to make the planet begin to store up energy from the sun or water that's a lot of work and maybe too much money on a project that's not worth it,but what Mars have to offer is fuel of information and knowledge we can learn and get.

WHY ALL THESE NOISE?! We have a planet full of DIFFERENT FORMS of LIFE and We DO NOT taking care of it. We are spending/investing too much money, time and brains to FINDING LIFE at onother places. The question is WHY?! In Whom INTEREST? All these RESOURCES could/should be INVESTED on TAKING CARE of this ONLY KNOWN PLANET OF LIFE! So, Real science and Scientists has to FOCUS ON EARTH and try to SOLVE THE PROBLEMS HERE & NOW! POVERTY and so much other Social Problems DEMANDS RESPONS, RESPONSIBILITY and TAKING ACTION HERE & NOW. We need JUSTICE, FAIR DISTRIBUTION of WEALTH and WELFARE, HEER & NOW! I have a great interest in astronomy, but I think actually we CAN NOT WAIT with our Heroic Scientists to find some another place to live. IT`S TOO MUCH NOISE FOR NOTHING, WITH ALL DUE RESPECT! There is only a little oxygene in very thin mars atmosphere but much bound in CO2 and water also also a little bit in mainly CO2 atmosphere to be get out with H2O electrolyse to O2 + H2 usen for reaction with CO2 to H2Ö + CÖ2 also burned with produced oxygene breathed out CO2 also away and O2 surplus for breathing of humans and animals but outside deathly without suit and oxygene average temperature about antarctica and first nothing there like mother earth or any production is not very inviting ! Also solar values bad special with dust storms all over mars so nuclear or fusion needed... https://www.cnbc.com/2017/09/28/lockheed-martin-unveils-fully-reusable-crewed-martian-lander.html
