That sense of respect and love for my "enemies" put me in grand cosmic motion, and protected me like a shield through the dark. Love with purpose to find home. I had watched a movie about Christian missionaries. One of the friars had been upset to watch his friend die and rushed to join him or die in the attempt. One of the missionaries refused, and he got some real moral outrage from the Samarai. About how he could just watch his comrades die. That moment in the movie played in my heart when I saw this lyric. And that was related to the night when I played the song in my car "Running to the Edge of the World." Which on a personal level related to that moment when that friend of mine said "I never thought a Marilyn Manson song would make me cry." Love courage and wisdom tends to bend hearts to the best part of a person. That's the other skin I melted in my mouth, her cynicism and sadness and hopelessness. It's not enough to tell someone their wrong, a person has to be courageous to love why their wrong by example. "Don't want to know. Don't need to know. You got champagne problems." That to me is what I was thinking at the time about her appeals to sympathy, but I never said those words to her, because she had a right to her pain. That observation and heart space to me is the space beyond her or anyone else that anyone needs to do the right thing. I can have contempt for the ignorant aspect of her while loving her beyond that, because when a person gave up it wasn't ignorance, it was her being tired. That spot called "ignorance" was my part to be better to bring out the best. And the part of "Ring all the bells you can ring. There's a crack in everything. That's how the sunlight gets in." The subtle distinction of Ring all the bells in contrast to Leonard Cohen's "you don't have to ring all the bells you can ring" is very complex. It is both reminiscent of Solomon's appeal that there is a "time for every purpose under heaven." The complete disregard for the value of originality is reminiscent of Marcus Aurelius. One claim he made was how beautiful lyrics don't matter as much as service to Rome. One could also extend that to service to humanity or the highest ideal. Much meaning can be tightly packed in a single alteration in poetry. That's what's beautiful about poetry and it's subtlety that doesn't dim the powerful transparent lyrics. But rather the power drew me in to the subtlety, which is beautiful writing. It's reminiscent of how a poem can be deeply personal and deeply relevant to the individual and humanity. So much of what I would critique about some modern poetry is the seeming fear that unless they make it desperately obvious and divorced from their own experience, then it won't be relevant. But you already are relevant. Just by living and being alive and defending your own humanity as something unique to offer. Poetry is confronting the fear of not existing and falling into beauty just by being human.

Therefore there is a logical choice. If you allow other people to control you without taking responsibility in order to please others, then you trained people to send you to hell. In order to make it to heaven you must be powerful with integrity and take the reigns to the soul cell you can never escape no matter if you make it to heaven or hell.

The basic underlying thought is that there is no hell or heaven. It's only that your soul is already a cell. How you design your string connections shapes the soul you're in. My first half of life was made to silence all noise to understand. The middle was to accept that disruption and fall was inevitable. I can design that noise to fit me for heaven or hell. Once that noise was set in place, I put in places and stopping spaces to fit my soul for heaven on earth. But all is futile and nothing until I gained access to those controls in the cell of my soul. Hell would be if I allowed someone else to design my soul. Heaven is if I control my soul to have healthy relationships with others.

The lyrics of this song reminds me a lot of Leonard Cohen in Anthem, the part about "There's a crack in everything, that's how the light gets in".
