I haven’t listened to Marilyn Manson in years. After all the allegations came out, I was so disappointed but like most, not really surprised. So many stories circulated for years about the type of person he was. However... when I listened to Holy Wood this week, I was immediately brought back to my youth. An incredibly depressed teenager. Felt so alone. But I found calm and acceptance in his music. I can say with some certainty I might not be here if not for his music, along with others. Now I’m a 31 year old women, a far cry the teenage outcast I once was... in fact I think my younger self would look at me now with jealously and contempt. Maybe I’d even call myself a sell out. But I am content. I still have all the scars to remind me of how far I’ve come. Wow this is such a ramble... anyway, I believe the allegations. And I hope justice is done. But I am going to try my best to separate the person from the art... because his art literally shaped the person I am today, saved me from myself and I hope it isn’t forever tainted in my memory

@BenchReviews exactly this. it was a persona, we all thought. he was also so intelligent and wity in interviews. I really thought "Marilyn Manson" on the stage was an act.. similar to Ziggy Stardust. All the shocking things he said and his shocking lyrics... just like the ultimate egdelord who knew how to generate controversy to sell records. I still love his music but I can't defend him. it's really sad he proved the mainstream media right...

I compeltley understand this. As someone who is apart of gen z ( 15 almost 16) it pains me to even consider the things he has possibly done and the fact that it kind of fits his character is what makes it worse. I find that same acceptance and understanding in his work and I love it. It makes me feel heard and understood which is so precious but now I wont be able to openly express that kind of love like the other generations (well not as much I'm sure people were judged for even mentioning his name). I dont love Manson as a person....well not anymore but I do love his music and the lyrics behind some of his songs. I'm jealous of those who got to experience his music back then. I'm jealous I cant experience it with them.

I was in this video and can be seen at 3:38 on the left with the skull make up. The video shoot started at 7am and ended at 11pm the same day. It was filmed in downtown Los Angeles in an alley way. Out of the shot there were trailers, portable dressing rooms and catering. The scenes where there were people on either side of the alley was filmed last.

@Traxon Jackal I hope so as well. I am proud to have been a part of the bands art whilst there were still four members that had been there since the Portrait / Smells Like Children era.

@Ryan Jackson-Saw Having been a fan since 1994 it was by all means beyond surreal. And it somehow felt natural. While the band performed the parts, the song played through load speakers. I recall it having been played about 30 times in total. The parts with Rose & Matt were filmed on the 2nd day. There were no extras or cast members there on that day. I believe that the photo of Manson on the cross was also filmed on that day. But the larger portion of the video was all filmed in one day. A majority of the other people in the video weren’t actually fans, they were extras hired for their looks. And they were dressed by hair and make up to look gothic. If I recall there were probably about 5 actual fans there. The rest were just there for a pay check. One of the guys was really cool though, he was a Mel Gibson impersonator. Him and I talked the whole time. He’s visible in the video.

This song is very relatable to me. I just can't stop singing it at times.

“Manson is done.” I don’t agree. What he could do is buy his own music venue, and play concerts once a week, and let the fans COME TO HIM. The other nights of the Week, touring bands could perform at the venue. With these cancellations, the way they CANCEL musicians is the VENUES stop hosting their CONCERTS. He could go around that by OWNING his own VENUE, and let the fans come to him, because there are MILLIONS who support him AGAINST cancellation.

If he manages to clear his name enough to not end up in jail then he needs to clean up before he does anything else.
