Ah, the venerable Thanksgiving Day Parade. Growing up in 1950's/60's Brooklyn and moving out in 1988 I have been to see twenty three Macy's parades between 1961 and 1987. I did miss three while serving in the navy. Into the 1970's my parade "survival pak" consisted of a flask of Hiram and Walker's Blackberry Brandy and several joints (rolled in advance). Best viewing was just north of the G&W (Gulf and Western) building along Central Park West. It was swell watching the bands, balloons and chicks in short skirts. We did drop acid one year and never made it to the parade, only getting as far as the playground in Central Park. The tv coverage sucks as it spends most of the time showing the Broadway and Off Broadway song excerpts in front of Macy's. Probably the worst location for parade viewing. WOR tv usually showed King Kong and Son of Kong every Thanksgiving afternoon. The plan was; see the parade, eat dinner at mom and dad's and go home to watch WOR. No I phone videos, just some kodak snapshots. Some far out experiences in those days, fuhgeddaboudit!

Thank you for posting. I came to youtube to watch the 2018 live parade, but since I live on the west coast, I woke up too late (7:50am) to see it. You know, we actually have more than tumbleweed and decrepit saloons out here but whatevs. The major networks have destroyed my enjoyment of the parade. All the dance routines and b.s.-ers chatting and no balloons. Very weak sauce. So, just wanted to let you know I appreciated this simpler approach.

This had to be the "WORST" floats I've ever seen in a Macy's Day Parade. I mean, c'mon! A Power Ranger, Pillsbury Dough boy, Pokey Mon???? "Where's the classics??? Where's Snoopy, Spider-Man, Bart Simpson???? "THIS SUCKED"!
