He used his speed to dribble opponents and then create unbalance in their defensive structure. He mostly crossed and he is a great crosser. But that’s it. When he faced fast defenders like Ashley Cole who could counter Ronaldo’s pace and stop his dribbling, then his playmaking was nothing extraordinary. Just good that’s it. Or when the space is limited then Ronaldo have no clue how to pass and where to pass the ball. The thing I am trying you say is his playmaking was dependent on pace. It is so difficult to understand that Ronaldo never had the ability to drop deep, control the game and create. Not even when he was young. His qualities with regard to these aspects was always limited. If you want to see a player who is a extraordinary at playmaking then watch Neymar (2014-2018), then you will understand what playmaking is really about. The way he drops deep, control the game, give line breaking passes and everything goes through him. He is unserious and wasted himself is a different debate. Ronaldo can not give line breaking passes through tight gaps when the opposition sits deep in their own half pitch, he has managed to do it very rarely. RONALDO is only a good playmaker on the counter, because there is a lot of space on the counter, and like I said earlier he is a great crosser of the ball. He has always been that. Ronaldo lacks the killer pass, he does not have that kind of killer pass Xavi, Ozil, Iniesta and Messi and the old greats had. I don’t understand how you can compare Ronaldo’s playmaking with Xavi’s. Xavi eats Ronaldo alive when it comes to this aspect. Take Ribery as an example, he is a far better playmaker than CR7. Ronaldo style of playmaking in his younger days is more like Mbappe and Vinicius. They are good playmakers and can create unbalance because due their speed and ability to create chaos in the defensive structure of the opposition. But they don’t know how to control the rhythm of the game and drop deep when the opposition defends in a compact defensive shape and when the space is limited. The likes of Messi, Neymar, Iniesta, Ribery, Zidane, Ronaldinho, Maradona, Baggio, Johan Cruyff, Pele, Zico, Baggio and etc knew how to do it. In the end, I want make a thing clear my friend. I have nothing against Ronaldo, he is an inspiration for all youngster and it’s great how much he has achieved. He has many great qualities. He is the greatest goalscorer of all time in my eyes and definitely one of the greatest players of all time, if not the best. If I hated Ronaldo I would never admit he is the GOAT in goalscoring. And I am not a die hard Messi fan, it’s true I prefer Messi over CR7 because Messi is the better all round/overall player in my eyes. Both of them are extraordinary players but not my favorite players. In the end you have your opinion and have the right to think differently. Maybe we don’t see and understand football in the same way.

They can impact games in more ways than CR7 can and their game is not limited to some aspects. To be more complete doesn’t mean anything. It does not make you the better player.
