It's incredible, Walter moves this Porsche as if it were a slow delivery van delivering parts. You'd think he was driving to the bakery to get his rolls. Every steering angle is perfect, no corrections, no wild turning of the steering wheel. With a stoic calmness he moves the Porsche towards the limit, I understand why Micha could close his eyes and just feel the perfect flow of the ideal line. At 77, Walter remains at a world-class level. Simply unbelievable. Thanks for sharing🙏.
Vor 2 Monate@loxep915 +31
Yea the flow was insanely how smooth and precisely he changed gears let it roll in -high get low out to High and shift im optimum rpm. U saw how he changed always high gears at 5600-8/9000 and lower gears as 7500-5000 he knows how a Porsche engine works as a test driver for Porsche it self he feels all also just on the sound if u saw his expressions

Vor Monat@hajotge12
Yes, Walter Röhrls signature move is when he shows how he thinks about driving a car perfectly: He always shows how he handles the steering wheel with to fingers. It is always about the perfect balance ... and that makes it look like "he was driving to the bakery" ... There is another video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tt00Zs_j6Vw) where 35 years younger Christoph Breuer drives the track 30 seconds faster than grandpa Walter. He is (audibly) a bit harsh to the tyres and the physics of the car at some points. Not the "two fingers at the steering wheel" approach.

Doing what you love really does keep you young. Misha looked like a little boy in pure bliss sitting next to such a legend in an epic car on the most esteemed race track. Im happy for you Misha. You're a true example of humble, wise and driven. Keep up the hard work.

Closing your eyes and trusting the legend himself. Sometimes we look at old people and forget what they have accomplished in their lifetime. This man is probably one of the most talented racing drivers to ever exist. And he keeps rocking at 77. Amazin video, thank you.

Thank you Misha for just leaving the chat out. Magic.

Probably? Probably? 😕 Not probably; he is.! 😆😂
Vor 2 Monate@samuelgomez3311 +1
Misha's face at 7:51 was epic... what happens? 😂😂 looks like strange thing about the car, maybe downshift. Anyways, one of the best laps with the myth!

Walter is so smooth & precise on the track. Then you watch how they are bouncing around but it doesn’t affect his line or inputs. Wow true legend thanks for this video from USA.

Walter is such an awesome person and unbelievable driver 🤩🥳👏 it seems like he could push way more but still would be 'chilled' 😅 his driving looks so smooth 👍 So keep on enjoying the driving Walter 😉🤩👍👏

What a great question to ask him. I also loved the analog touch of using his chrono-watch to track the time 🥰 I am happy for you, dude. This is a dream for most of us here!
Vor 2 Monate@fredlesteros7668 +1
U could see that he was driving 70% of capacity. No ego, brilliant driving. What a gentleman 💫👌
Vor Monat@sheldonaubut +198
Absolutely incredible, and it looks like he did a 7:27 BTG. If that is him driving the ring at 76 years old, I'd have loved to see him there back in his racing days. He is 3 years older than I, and I haven't raced in almost 30 years and I know that I have nowhere near the reflexes I had in the past, yet he seems to be almost super-human. What a treat to watch this video.
Vor 2 Monate@stoneeh +39
My father is 5 years older than him, and he still doesn't drive slow, but his coordination is all over the place. Age _will_ get you. That Walter can still do this now is absolutely amazing.
Vor 2 Monate@lukewaller973
I dont think about this while watching the video. But this is very true. His reflexes are amazing. I am still watching but amazed and had to see the comments
Vor 2 Monate@fantabuloussnuffaluffagus +26
@@JoeMaranophotography He was short shifting, and he was going into corners slowly enough that he was able to get deep into the throttle well before most apexes. He was taking it easy. Still he did a 7:27.
Vor 2 Monate@sheldonaubut +12
@@fantabuloussnuffaluffagus -- At 73 I still only own sports cars with manual transmissions, and I'd say that in the last 5 years I've missed more shifts than I did in my first 53 years of driving. I've even killed the car at stop lights a couple of times and never did that before. I guess age gets us all at some point, although Walter's "point" seems to be much higher than mine.
Vor 2 Monate@peterhofmann665
A really clean lap that was. Knowing every corner and curb... amazing..

A big legend and I have my biggest respect for him how he can drive on his age
Vor 2 Monate@gtasomogyi
First of all: Thank you, for both of you! It was interesting to see, that there was no left-foot braking, the tender smile on your face, and the chilled style of driving on speed! I was this year first time ever on the Ring, on the end of July, and second time on the end of August, with my 1.4L Fiat Stilo..., but I want to go once more this year. Let's see what my luck and my next (13th) car allows... :)

Walter the Legend! Driving looks smooth and fast and all my respect to drive like this in his age. Cheers Walter

He's such a calm/wise guy... What a role model. Being 77 and thinking 7:20 is easy😂 Unbelievable.

I have no words for people like him, just someone who truely is humble, extremely skilled, amd seems ro be an amazing person. Good to see he is still going at it despite his age. I think for all of us car enthusiasts he truely is a role model of what we should be.

Something so beautiful about seeing a master in his later years being so at peace and still in command. Incredible opportunity for this lap to be captured on such a way. Love that he uses his chronograph

Amazing. It´s a real privilege to be able to watch Walter Röhrl driving like this at 77. A true legend. Hope to see him for many years!

Walter Rohrl is a class act. I remember watching him drive Asconas and Quattros in the 80s. Possibly the greatest driver of all time. An absolute legend.

Walter is and remains the icon of motorsport in Germany, if not the world. He is simply a down-to-earth guy. How I would love to take a lap around the ring with him. Misha I completely understand you saying it was a dream. This video reminded me a lot of the laps I was allowed to do in the taxi with Sabine. Thank you for always managing to bring back joyful experiences of the ring that are often forgotten. In memory of Sabine Schmitz “Queen of the Nordschleife”
Vor 2 Monate@stenovitz +5
You can calmly skip the "if" about icon in the world. I'm not German. I feel it a privilege just to have been able to follow Walter Röhrl on television during his prime (whenever that is - seems to be still ongoing), I've met more known race drivers (or at least known within the racing community) during my visits at Die Schleife through decades of Touristenfahrten, but meeting Dr. Röhrl in person would most probably leave me completely speechless and get completely stuck in the questions that I had otherwise collected for him over 40 years. But it is really lucky that we have YT today, who since the beginning has meant that I have gotten to know him better as a person. His humble approach to everything and self-effacing personality and always matter-of-fact approach to things. A man in complete mental balance. A man in complete control. Who takes things step by step. And a person who you both feel could be your closest friend and at the same time on a completely different planet, to which you never get a ticket yourself. And know it with a completely settled feeling.

Rohl always drove in control, he didnt participate in rally stages which had a lot of jumps, he just didnt see the point of being out of control... no wonder Misha looks blissed out, what a sublime experience.

Mr Roehrl is living legend.. It is pleasure to see he is still on a fast track.

Legend being very humble in the end, from the carousell onwards he drove pretty quickly through those tight up and down curves, awesome car too
