“Sorry I didn’t save the world my friend, I was too busy building mine again.” This is probably my favorite song from the album.

Aside from the chorus “I choose me, I’m sorry” my favorite verse is “I realize true love is not saving face, but unconditional… When will you let me go?… I trust you find independence… If not, then all is forgiven… Sorry I didn’t save the world my friend… I was too busy building mine again”. If you’re on a journey to finding your peace and fighting for it, then this hits the soul! Love you Kendrick

I think there was pressure on Kendrick to “change the world” through his music. He’s telling us that we can do it ourselves. We don’t need him to tell us how or do it for us. We’ve gotta heal ourselves. It’s not on him. He’s freeing himself of that responsibility.

This is one of my new favorite Kendrick Lamar song. I hope he makes a music video for this one cause it deserves recognition. Also not only is Kendrick an amazing rapper, he’s a great singer

In case y’all didn’t pick it up with Mirror, this album is Kendrick turning his storytelling and lyricism towards himself, his view of himself. It’s an album about change, growth, pain, grief and self reflection.

This song feels like he’s closing the book, and it feels like the conclusion to not only this album but to this entire chapter of his life.

This is the best possible song to end an album like this. After listening to the album 5 times I don’t think that any other song fits better than this masterpiece

This album had me all emotional. I had to text my children to ask them had they listened to it. I need them to break our generational curses.

Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers distills the themes of Kendrick Lamar’s entire discography to communicate a conclusive message to all the people he’s touched: “I choose me, I’m sorry”. This line is a direct response to the shame & guilt-fuelled questions posed with songs like “Sing About Me; Dying of Thirst”, “U”, “How Much A Dollar Cost”, “Blacker the Berry”, “Mortal Man” and more. Oklama’s 5 TDE albums have been a cohesive yet chaotic stream of consciousness, one man’s attempt to convey the story of how he saved his own life, along with friends, family and hopefully millions of fans, solely through his faith and love for music.

It took me a bit for this song to become my favorite track of the album.

I love how this album ends...this beat reminds me of "real" and again it ends on a real note.I absolutely love this album already upon first listen. I seen a lot of ppl already bashing it but with the very mature subject matter it mightve struck a nerve for some and made them feel very uncomfortable.....remember this is a mature kendrick now...you want "bops" go listen to someone else

What he's trying to say is, instead of releasing an album when we wanted him to he chose himself, his mental health and his family. He's apologizing because he knows his voice is needed in this world. When he says "you won't grow waiting on me" he's saying instead of waiting on him to drop the album focus on you, your growth, healing and family. Don't just depend on him for guidance, depend on you and focus on where you are going. I love this song he really bared his soul.

This is probably Kendrick’s most personal album and listening to it all the way through made me realize how much goes beneath the surface that you wouldn’t even imagine. We’re placed in Kendrick’s mind as he talks about his past and current struggles as well as a few things he’s done as he’s worked on overcoming those struggles. This album serves as a reminder that we all struggle, whether it’s been many years or for just a couple of days, we all struggle, and there’s a bit of beauty in that shared struggle because it’s one thing that makes us all alike. This album might not get as much of a positive reception off of the music itself but as a work of art, this deserves a 10/10 and will surely become a classic not just for Kendrick but for music and art as a whole.

This being the last song on the album and the last song of his contract with TDE, it reminiscent of the end credits to a movie, following such an important song off of the project, "Mother, I Sober", which as you listen to the storytelling feels like a movie. You could see him walking into his home to his family and the camera pan out. This album was a masterpiece.
