I feel like if english classes made people study on kendrick lamar or someone that is relatable to our contemporary generation, people would be motivated to do their work more.

In my english classes poetry unit we had to choose a song we liked and do a full depth analysis on it. My teacher let me do the entire TPAB album and gave me %100 on it just for how much passion I put into the paper.

Kendrick Lamar truly is one of the last real ones left. Everyone can see that he really views Hip Hop as an art unlike these other sellouts who see it as a way of getting a quick paycheck, But then again you can't blame them. At the end of the day there can be only one Kendrick Lamar Duckworth

Nobody is probably going to see this, but.. I’m 31, can’t hold down a job, live with my parents, I just got fired on my 2nd day working at Amazon. I’ve been playing this song on repeat for the past 20 minutes, it’s 3am where I’m at, I pull into a McDonalds, in the parking lot with this song on repeat with my gun on my lap tears falling down my face, it’s pouring outside, and then I look over and it’s a homeless guy in the middle of the parking lot, in the middle of the rain with a blanket around him. All these cars going through the drive thru don’t give a fuck and just pass by him... anyways, as My face is flooded with tears listening to this song on repeat, ready to end it, suddenly Tupac’s KRAZY comes on and pulls me out of that suicidal situation I was just in. PAC has saved my life many times and this is just another instance. So as I try to stop crying wanting to end it all I look at that homeless man while krazy comes on, I get myself together and go through the drive thru to buy him some food and and a drink. I say all that to say, you may think you have it rough or you just want to die, but you really don’t have it that bad. It could be WAYYYY worse in life. Be grateful... anyways, sorry, my mind is going a thousand places right now. Can’t think straight . Pray I make it another day. We will see:.

I feel this sentiment all too well, been dealing with ptsd since as a teen after I saved a dude I knew from a brutal stabbing and got drenched in his blood where he had wounds to his heart and lungs and most other major organs, a friend's mom was the first person to see me directly after i saved the dude and she literally screamed and ran from me kus i walked into her house drenched in blood, I was like 13, almost got the boot from my high-school for disciplinary reasons with almost no support for my issues then almost failed out, and what form of support I did have was a therapist who seemed more shocked and distraught from the shit I said than I was telling the story, therapist just diagnosed me with anxiety then tried to give me pills for depression and ignored the ptsd making me exponentially worse, then landed a relationship with a suicidal narcissistic psychopath who was exactly like amber heard and i had to break it off in a psych ward after their roughly 10 attempts at suicide as a way to take revenge for me trying to leave, then my best friend got murdered, all the while my adult career had been as a first responder in shitty hard as hell areas, so death and trauma and substance abuse were essentially my bread and butter, my brain chemistry tells me to die daily, i never necessarily entertain the idea its more intrusive than it is intentional but hey, that's my burden, alcohol abuse is rampant in my life and i live a super self destructive life style unintentionally, i never really get suicidal per say, I just do not give a single fuck if I do die, but art keeps me going for sure, nowadays I'm in a healthy relationship and no longer a first responder but I still have all that baggage and it's harder than ever to try and deal with it but I have a solid support system at my back and I feel like there is a horizon, I hope you see that horizon yourself

I listened to this album when it first came out when I was 12 and now that I’m 18 I can feel, understand, and contextualize this album so much more. I’ve listened to it on and off throughout the years and it has only gotten better and god damn (no pun intended) Kendrick is a musical and lyrical genius he has been the best rapper from this gen by far (plz Kanye and J cole stans don’t come at me this is just my personal opinion). All the complexity, pain, art, production, lyrics, and meaning to his music has helped me get through so much and understand myself as a person his music has impacted me on a personal and artistic level since I was little. I can’t thank Kendrick enough for what he has done for me and many other young people who can relate to his music and appreciate it for its artistic and lyrical value. Even till this day I still try to figure what he’s trying to tell us through his music it’s so inspiring and motivational I just can’t thank him enough.

Man, Kendrick Lamar really dives deep. One of many examples: On "u" Kendrick reveals the mind-state of someone who is suicidal and mercilessly attacks the chores of his identity ... he is known for being humble he attacks that he is known for being about unity he attacks that etc. It's like if a tabloid decided to expose Kendrick in an attempt to expose him as a fraud but he does it on himself. Its not the fake generic introspection we hear in many rap songs. The introspection is so deep he is near disowning himself because of the pain regret and shame. He doesn't just slap power love and positivity on it which in any case is a simple conclusion for a very complex problem. And him actually vocalising those internal screams many suicidal people experience because they been holding back for so long is soooooooo well thought and placed. And just like with his other songs the video enriches the experience and provides clues
Vor 6 MonateHoward Mingo Jr
This leads right into DAMN. During "For Sale" we see his life split into two possibilities. The blue where he gets baptized (that's the Kendrick we see today) or the red where he is surrounded by lust (sin). The red path leads right into the album DAMN. Notice at the end he is walking down the road in his black outfit from the scene with the nude women. This is the path where Kendrick walks into the blind woman who kills him. The album DAMN then explains the shortcomings that led to Kendrick's damnation in this alternate life. Now notice that on the damn cover he is in front of a red wall. In his Spotify profile pic, Kendrick is in front of a blue wall. This means in real life he took the blue path, which was his salvation. This ties in with the blue scene here where he is baptized. This duality of choosing the blue or red path is why Sounwave posted a picture of Morpheus holding the red and blue pill on social media.

@aphyTTR This is something I sent to someone in this thread a very long time ago. - " Nah My speakers were on. I actually listened to it in my Car when it first dropped and absolutely enjoyed it. I don't mind the slowness but some songs were "Eh" to me personally. Regardless, i was vibing and enjoying the whole album. I know the message behind 4YEO. I appreciate the Theme, Production, Lyricism, The Sound, The Delivery and The Impact of the Album. That still doesn't change the fact I feel it's one of his Weaker projects. It's not a bad project; just one I enjoyed and I play every now and then. Music is subjective which you & everyone should know by now. I respect your opinion of thinking that 4YEO is his best project to Date. I Personally prefer and think FHD is his best. KOD follows closely behind. 2014 FHD is an album that made me cry during my first listen. January 28th brought out those tears. A close friend of mine who is more like a brother was shot and killed while chilling in his Car. He was born January 28th. That first verse touched my heart. 03'adolescence, Apparently, Love Yours. All songs that hit me on a more personal level than anyone can understand. Same with KOD. That album hits me harder than FHD. Tracks 8-11. Those tracks are simply wonderful to me because those are things I Seen growing up and still do. Those are things I went thru. I didn't get that same feel from 4YEO but i will say songs like Ville Mentality, Change & 4YEO were beautiful songs to me. Especially 4YEO. I played that songs 11 straight times and was shook every time. Til this day that song gives me chills. I appreciate 4YEO as album. A Good album. I just hold it lower than his other projects."

The world don't need you, don't let them deceive you Numbers lie too, fuck your pride too, that's for dedication Thought money would change you Made you more complacent I fuckin' hate you, I hope you embrace it I swear— [Hook] Loving you is complicated, loving you is complicated Loving you is complicated, loving you is complicated Loving you is complicated, loving you is complicated Loving you is complicated, loving you is complicated Loving you is complicated, loving you is complicated [Bridge] Lovin' you, lovin' you, not lovin' you, 100° proof I can feel your vibe and recognize that you're ashamed of me Yes, I hate you, too [Skit: Jessica Vielmas] House keeping (Knocking) House keeping ¡Abre la puerta! ¡Abre la puerta tengo que limpiar el cuarto! ¡Es que no hay mucho tiempo tengo que limpiar el cuarto! ¡Disculpe! [Verse 2] You the reason why mama and them leavin' No, you ain't shit, you say you love them I know you don't mean it I know you're irresponsible, selfish, in denial, you can't help it Your trials and tribulations a burden, everyone felt it Everyone heard it, multiple shots, corners cryin' out You was deserted, where was your antennas again? Where was your presence? Where was your support that you pretend? You ain’t no brother, you ain’t no disciple You ain’t no friend A friend never leave Compton for profit Or leave his best friend, little brother You promised you’d watch him before they shot him Where was your antennas? On the road, bottles and bitches You FaceTimed him one time, that's unforgiven You even FaceTimed instead of a hospital visit Guess you thought he would recover well Third surgery, they couldn't stop the bleeding for real Then he died, God himself will say, "You fuckin' failed" You ain't try [Part II: For Sale?] [Intro: Bilal] Oh, oh, oh, ohhhh, ohh, ohh Oh, oh, oh, ohhhh, ohh, ohh (Breathing) What's wrong, nigga? I thought you was keeping it gangsta I thought this what you wanted They say if you scared, go to church But remember, he knows the Bible too [Hook] Now, baby, when I get you, get you, get you, get you I'ma go hit the throttle with you Smoking, lokin', poking that doja 'til I'm idle with you 'Cause I (want you) Now, baby, when I'm riding here, I'm riding dirty Registration is out of service Smoking, lokin', drinking that potion, you can see me swerving 'Cause I (want you) (I want you more than you know) [Verse 1: Kendrick Lamar] I remember you took me to the mall last week, baby You looked me in my eyes about four, five times 'Til I was hypnotized, then you clarified That I (want you) You said Sherane ain't got nothing on Lucy I said, "You crazy?" Roses are red, violets are blue But me and you both pushing up daisies if I (want you) [Bridge] Now, baby, when I get you, get you, get you, get you I'ma go hit the throttle with you Smoking, lokin', poking that doja 'til I'm idle with you [Verse 2: Kendrick Lamar] You said to me You said your name was Lucy I said, "Where's Ricardo?" You said, "Oh, no, not the show" Then you spit a little rap to me like this When I turned twenty-six, I was like, "Oh, shit" You said to me I remember what you said too, you said "My name is Lucy, Kendrick You introduced me, Kendrick Usually I don’t do this But I see you and me, Kendrick Lucy give you no worries Lucy got million stories About these rappers that I came after when they was boring Lucy gon' fill your pockets Lucy gon' move your mama out of Compton Inside the gi-gantic mansion like I promised Lucy just want your trust and loyalty Avoiding me? It's not so easy, I'm at these functions accordingly Kendrick, Lucy don't slack a minute Lucy work harder Lucy gon' call you even when Lucy know you love your Father I'm Lucy I loosely heard prayers on your first album, truly Lucy don't mind, 'cause at the end of the day you'll pursue me Lucy go get it, Lucy not timid, Lucy up front Lucy got paperwork on top of paperwork I want you to know that Lucy got you All your life I watched you And now you all grown up to sign this contract if that’s possible" [Hook] Now, baby, when I get you, get you, get you, get you I'ma go hit the throttle with you Smoking, lokin', poking that doja 'til I'm idle with you 'Cause I (want you) Now, baby, when I'm riding here, I'm riding dirty Registration is out of service Smoking, lokin', drinking that potion, you can see me swerving 'Cause I (want you)

If Kendrick Lamar dies it's because he taught and spoke the truth. There is a possibility that he could lose fans because of who he really is. All his music is for everyone to understand and if you don't you're either not a fan or a lost soul. TPAB is a masterpiece.

@DeepmedZ you feel me bruh ! I been a avid listener of his music from the first time I heard him. Not to compare him to hip hop legends or anything but he is the closest thing the new generation has to Pac. People always wanna converse about music but for some people it's just honestly not for them. If you don't fw music heavy then just find a new hobby. Because actually listening to the message artists present to listeners means a lot.

+Rashad “Shad da Caro” Ingram Let em know....us kendrick fans gotta unite....tpab was better than gkmc and people dont see that...it was better...more content and different flows...not because we have different opinions on which album was better, should we divide...we all support the same artist...i personally think kendrick has gotten better with time...every album has been better and better....i already wanna hear a new song from him and i know that aint happening anytime soon because he just dropped tpab and TDE takes forever to drop music and will be focusing on ab soul schoolboy isaiah and sza this year....which they should... because those 4 need to drop some new shiit!! with that being said TDE all day everyday motherfuckaz!!!!!!

+Jacob Boone why you gotta hate on the kid man it's his own interpretation of what Kendrick was saying that he used to help himself out. How do you know those weren't metaphors? I'm not saying they were or weren't but you can take just about anything and make a metaphor out of it. Music for the most part is up to the listener in terms of how they interpret it man

In the first song "U" Kendrick shows his inner struggle with being successful. This takes place after his release of GKMC after finding out that one of his best friends had just died and that he decided to go on with his tour rather than postpone and go back to LA to see his friend, to at the very least see his homeboy who was shot and in the hospital. So he feels guilty for making it out of the hood while all his friends are still in the hood dying, so after learning that his friend died he just drank himself to a rage in 'that hotel room.' He really puts his life into his music

Listen closely, after he says something about his or someone else's brother dying, he starts crying. I think this is a song Kendrick made to let go of all that anger, sadness, grief. EVERYTHING. He is going through multiple stages through the song. AT first, he is just drunk and screaming, then it's more of a relax state where he is yelling his words out and then we have when he starts to get sad and his voice starts to crack. Then of coarse we have the crying, and finally we have the final segment. He seems empty, almost depressed, He goes to church and the same thing, almost as if nothing changes.. Almost as if going to church didn't change anything. He is letting people touch him and he doesn't have a reaction, after the hangover, he just seems empty, as if he doesn't want to be in that club. The ending sequence is him finally accepting and moving on i think. He gets baptized, and that's the ending scene. this song just like all of his songs have a deeper meaning. I'm interested to know about Lamar's past. It seems dark. ANYWAYS, HE NEEDS TO DROP A NEW ALBUM
