@mamba I was just saying that like nowadays people don't know the purpose of a real MC anymore craftmanship went outta the window in Mainstream rap and that the shit that the L O.X member Jadakiss was talking about. He top 5 MCs dead or live .Now don't get turn up music is dope also as y'all call lit music ok cool that's the lane Young boy and Yak and Lil Baby rolls in. But don't get it twisted because I seen lil baby actually rap on the John Marent commercial I'm like this nigga need to come outside more in that field. And see this the problem that I have with Down South rappers right now Mainstream wise we don't know if the really can rap our not is because they always singing. It was a point and time when Southern MCs could flow with the best . Them wave of Southern MCs like Juvenile B.G Trick Daddy 8ball MJG Pastor Troy T.I Outkast UGK Scarface Lil Flip Lil Boosie Lil Wayne Turk Master. P C-Murder Project Pat Juicy J the whole 3-6 fuck it Slim Thug Lil Scrappy Ludacris Chingy J-Kwon them artist you can put in the booth and they flow to just about any beat. The XXl freshman class nowadays Cypher are trash nowadays because they pick the wrong people. They are not picking the right MCs anymore and promoting them. You can tell because soon as one of these Bubble gum rappers get on the scene someone who really can rap or challenge them they feel threatened. I seen with Kodak black and that 12 year old girl about 4 years ago like she had real bars that little girls was a problem. All the real rappers that are problem on the Mic or even in a rap battle they are underground. And don't get me started with how you really could tell if someone could rap you had to battle rap another nigga back then to get a deal lady's also back then anybody could have got that work. But yeah in these era its overpowering off of turn up music for the most part.

@elite manning_2-0 lyrically Jay Electronica is better then all of them and please let's not mention NBA Young boy when it comes to real lyricism. To much singing going on. I mean I know he can rap back in the days but he done moved into all that singing I'm confused. Don't get me wrong NBA young boy and Kodak lil baby can rap niggas got to come over on the otherside. Like when I think of MCs who can really rap I'm talking about Benny the Butcher J.Cole Kendrick Lamar Westside Gun Conway da Machine Rome Streets Boldly James Earl Sweatshirt Chance da rapper 21 Savage Y.G Mozzy Game Jay Rock Schoolboy Q Ab-Soul Vince Staples Flatbush Zombies Joey Badass . As rapper if you not doing what anyone has or still doing on that Wall of Rap then we shouldn't be talking about them .

Same here bro, I never met my father but the way they painted him to me was unfair to me, they told me the worst about him and I didn't get too much support in a family of only women, I became the man they tried to prevent, but I'm striving to make these changes and hearing this song just confirms that I'm not alone when this whole time I thought everyone had it better.

I wish I could personally thank Kendrick for this song. I cried my eyes out when I heard this for the first time. I’ve never felt so seen by an album before, and this song solidified it for me. Every word is so raw, like a confession. Kendrick has a way of completely revolutionizing the way we feel about music and the concepts he speaks on. When he says that women deserve a break and that there are grown men with daddy issues, I felt so vindicated. I’m a woman who came from an abusive home. My mom was too naive, exhausted, and depressed to protect me and my younger siblings from our father. He could be kind, funny, brilliant, and so supportive. He taught me things I will be grateful for all my life. But he also came from a broken abusive home, hard drugs, and unspeakable traumas like being set on fire in an empty field in a farm town when he was a kid and nearly dying. As an adult my father was an alcoholic and a malignant narcissist with bipolar I. He refused to admit there was anything wrong with him and lied about his mental illness. The things he put me through, the burdens he placed on me, were unforgivable. I tried as a young adult to forgive and make it work. After his mom died, he even apologized for things I never thought he’d apologize for. But he just kept getting sicker and more bigoted and extreme as he got older. My younger sister and I cut ties with him when we were in our early twenties. My younger brother wasn’t strong enough to survive the abuse and is a hateful bigoted man now himself. A few years after I cut off contact with my father and brother, I had my first manic episode which is when I learned that bipolar has run in my father’s family all this time and he refused to warn me. I was able to learn from my estranged aunt that my uncle who died when I was young, his older brother, was suspected to have bipolar with schizophrenic features before he drank himself to death. It was especially devastating to learn I have bipolar so late in life as I already have BPD, probably because of my upbringing. I’ve been in therapy for years and have been making amazing improvements, but learning I have bipolar II means I will always be on medication and have to reconsider children of my own. I’ve decided it’s my mission in life to heal and try to be happy, and that’s it. I love who I am now, I know I’m kind, and I know that I will always love the parts of my dad that were once kind, but I’m proud to be at peace with knowing that man is long gone. My father wasn’t strong enough to stop his generational curse, and the curse will unfortunately be carried on by my brother, but it dies with me. Kendrick expresses that raw pain of being everything your father doesn’t want and raising you to be angry and competing with the world. He talks a lot about being a father himself on this album, there’s even the line “he broke the generational curse, say thank you.” He understands what generations of cold fathers can do to the men they leave behind, and by acknowledging that there are GROWN MEN with daddy issues just like us women, and in fact this is an epidemic we all deserve compassion for. If you bothered to read this, thank you. I know it’s weird to bare my soul like this but it just feels so good to hear a song like this and get it off my chest.

@Antone Wilson I think you might be misinterpreting what I am trying to say: bills (an expense) ain't got no silver spoon (privilege to afford and pay for expenses) : why would an expense ("bills") worry about having a silver spoon (" ability to pay for expenses") ? The bill is literally the expense. Replace bills with an actual bill in the line to check what I mean: its like saying electricity got no silver spoon. I get the message hes saying by this line but when its phrased like this do you get what I mean how its sort of implying bills are the objects paying for items, not people? Anyway the earlier replies cleared it up by saying there should be a comma after bills

I just broke in tears with this song. I am the son of a soldier. An hour ago, I just spoke about this with my psychologist. I have been taught to suppress my feelings, not to be a bitch. To focus, fight, disconnect, and move on. As Kendrick says, it makes you incredibly competitive. I've reached the goals I wanted to achieve. But at what price? Apathy takes over you as the bag, full of compressed emotions, has no room for more. I am tired. I won't pretend I have no right to feel anymore. Thank you K.L

I'm truly blessed to have my Father in my life. He's never tried to force me to do stuff and let me learn from my mistakes on my own. Never had to raise his voice or put hands on me to "keep me in line." He ain't perfect, but I've learned from his mistakes. Some would say his way of raising me was "soft" but thanks to him I've never had misplaced aggression that I took out on other people that would lead me down a dark path like most of my peers who were either raised by overbearing dad's or had no dad's at all. This whole album is a reflection on our culture and the things we value that have little to no value at all and have just held us back. It's time we strive to break these cycles.

I grew up closer with my dad than my mom and when I hit thirty the only thing he asked me was if I had a good childhood. That question was both a punch to the stomach and an affirmation, because a man with full grown kids and did well by them still can get vulnerable enough to ask them how they thought of those years. Made me reflect a lot on things I'd swept under the rug, laughed off, and those I don't want to pass down.

Thank you, Kendrick. In a little over 3 minutes you summed up the stigma of therapy, the false toughness black men have to portray to not get perceived as weak, lack of trust, rejection of love, the need to overcompensate to please and the fact that some of us who have grown up without a father, be it from absence or taken from us too soon, understand parental tough love but sometimes just needed a little more. I have two sons and could sense that cycle being passed down until I heard this. Again, thank you.

Vor Monatsweet memes are made of geese

Vor Monatvedanth reddy
@Nickle Spale maybe check my latest reply to antone Wilson to check what I meant
Vor 12 Tagevedanth reddy

My Dad was cold, stern, an asshole, and at 15 y/o abandoned my family and I haven’t talked to him since (I’m 23 now). This song hits, as that has been the source of a ton of pain but also the “chip on my shoulder” that drives me to succeed. This song is incredible

There's so many layers to his art, I just realized he released this on the day there was a lunar eclipse blood moon , as I wipe the tears from my eyes from this one..there has only ever been one other rapper ever who could make you cry, DMX was 1 of 1 but Kendrick is a Master of art. Thank you for blessing us again. God we needed this now ❤️
Vor MonatDarc Fenix
This album is an excellent work of art. DMX is also a legend and the main thing I loved about his music was the depth of emotion you felt from heartfelt songs like, I Can Feel It and I Miss You. The eclipse was 3 days after the album release, on the 16th .

I told my pops last year about how his absence affected me. I wanted some accountability, all I got were excuses and the coldest "get over it." I haven't been able to be real with him since. I burst into tears listening to this track. Shout out to those who found and are finding their way without guidance.

My pride kept me from mending my relationship with my father. I didn’t know how to approach it. I kept procrastinating. It’s 1 year he’s passed and I hate myself for not being able to talk to him while still alive. I forgave him at his wake but the pain creeps on me from time to time.

@Tha4704 Hard to swallow pills but you’re right. We can’t be responsible or accountable for the way our fathers treat or don’t treat us. It’s better to let it/them go and move on with our lives I agree.

This song literally has me teary eyed. Speaking on facts . Speaking on recognizing the healing that's needed , Speaking on reflecting from within and realizing change is needed . Speaking on what our fathers generation was like and understanding that's all they knew .. now it's our turn as fathers to understand the cycle cannot be repeated ...

@Cygnus L.A @adrian santibanez i appreciate the kind words you 2! really do appreciate. my kids are 1.5 and 6. and i feel like i was steering in that direction treating my 6 year old like he was grown telling him hes too old to cry and to pick his own self up. i love my kids been there for them from the very beginning. yesterday i went to my son and just held him. he had no clue. but one day he will understand. Thank you for the positivity. I hope you achieve everything you guys are working for!

@YuhhTrench as long as you can see the wrongs in how you were put through and you make your sons aware of the things but not make them go through suffering. You're already healing yourself and your sons future. Hope you are having a great relationship with your sons and pass down any knowledge you have to them. They will pass that same knowledge to their sons but with an ever greater mindset. Protect your boys.

Vor MonatTheKa89

@That0neGuy I repeat myself, you were expecting trap beats and bumper stickers, the entire album is supposed to be a sonic stage play. He wanted this album to be good if you read it, listen to it, or make it into a musical play. Nobody else has EVER done that. Vince Staples made FM, which is the only concept album that comes close.

@That0neGuy dude the production is amazing on this album. The production is NOT just bad because not every song has a hard bassy beat. It’s not always about that bro
