I waited, finally watched the movie tonight and have just come back to catch up, as it were... That bit in the end credits is weird. I thought maybe they'll get the "new 007" to take over, but, obviously, not as James Bond. But then the credits thing threw a wrench in this....

I've been waiting 6 months to watch this. No I have seen No Time To Die on Amazon Prime... I'm ready for the main event. 😎

@Corn Craig only returned because he thought the script was good. He felt very done with it after Spectre, considering he said he’d rather cut his own wrists than make a sequel. And considering this is the first Bond with an overarching narrative to the movies, ending like this makes sense. It closes the book on this iteration of Bond.

I ain't watching no female 007 movie for sure. The whole charm was the cartoonish, sexist, misogynistic nature of bond. That's why Roger Moore bond movies were the best.

@maxino38 The movie at the emd hinted that Mathilde is Bond's daughter so that means Mathilde has Bonds DNA too and can infect him. Madeline infects her father via Bond. Madeline infects Mathilde. Mathilde infects Bond. Bond will only survive if he is not Mathilde Biological Father but the ending as I said was confusing - Madeline said "Not Father" but at the end the writer seems to contradict.

The "We're not so different you and I" line got me 😂 That's exactly what Dr.Evil tells Austin Powers which is in itself a parody of James Bond.

Dr. Evil was also Austin Powers' secret evil twin brother and they actually made Blofeld into James Bond's adoptive brother in Spectre so there's that

Actually, Bond can't touch anyone, not just Madeleine and his daughter. This is because the people he touches might pass the nanobots to Madeleine.

Not true. He can move to a lesser known country and the chances of Madeleine coming in contact from there would be very low.

Too bad he forgot about his EMP watch, or that artificial EMPs can be used to deactivate the nanobots.

Actually, if he had gotten off the island they could have used EMP to get rid of the bots or any number of tricks to make him live, because it's a James Bond movie. You think when someone says something in a James Bond movie that's just how it is? Have you ever seen a James Bond movie?

What I learned from this movie: While Bond is 100% impervious to bullets, explosions do have a mild, almost unpleasant effect on him, so … they're clearly worse.

I don't understand how so many writers fail to come up with an evil goal for their villain that isn't "destroying the entire world or human race"... surely there are other steps before getting to that point

I liked some action scenes in NTTD but the villan is just absent and evil because he is evil. Screenwriters just wanted to make the entire movie about James Bond and its not right!

@zootherius hey, do you not remember how devastating them grenades were? When 3 landed right in front of him and exploded, his hearing went muffled for at least 5 seconds.

Or how bout all dem grenades he kept getting exploded by.

I love how the EMP watch was "very powerful" and blows up several levels of power and a bionic eye, but Bond's earpiece and the silo's doors worked perfectly fine immediately after

@Fearless1 this is why older cars without all them pesky computer components in them are resistant to EMPs as well....it isn't the wiring that is damaged it is the fine electrical components that are overheated and the circuits are melted

I like how people are twisting themselves into pretzels trying to justify why the EMP _didn't_ work on the nanobots, when literally every other scifi that utlized them had them vulnerable to EMPs, except perhaps the Borg nanites on Star Trek. (And _they_ had probably just adapted, same as the Borg do with anything else that can initially harm them.)

The weirdest thing with the Nanobots was that the whole point was that they were targeted, and then the villain was making them untargeted, which would make them a normal bioweapon.

There was something about DNA databases being hacked. I assume there was some selectivity.

I’ve seen various reviews and no one seems to mention the fact that using the EMP watch close to your face while sabotaging someone’s eye can also fry up the microphone in your ear that they were using to communicate all the time.

I had the exact same reaction to "secret island base". Seeing Bond gun down henchmen in a secret base is like going home.

You forgot the part where Safin told Bond that was his daughter during that conversation and Bond just had no reaction 😂

They needed to reset the franchise. Modern day bond isn't really interesting, and there's only a few stories you can tell. They'll probably set the next film in the 60s or 70s so that they don't need to keep including the "everything can be done online, we don't need bond anymore" plot point.

If you have so little expectation of blockbusters, stop watching those shitty MCU and Transformers movies.

The biggest problem I had with the movie was the idea that the nanobots wouldn't be affected by the EMP. Like, have the writers watched literally _none_ of the shows or movies ever made that featured nanotechnology? Barring perhaps the Borg nanites in Star Trek, nanotechnology is literally always vulnerable to EMPs.

So a spy infiltrates a place so that the nanomachines in his body - that can target specific people - could kill the villains. The plot of this movie is basically Metal Gear Solid.

@Mike Y nanobots, especially the more complicated designs, are modelled after proteins, and other biological compounds.

@Matthew Parker you and I must have a very different understanding of what a nano "bot" is. If the poison is a chemical, then that's just a pretty common poison.

@ricarleite emps are useless variants nanobots, since nanobots are chemical, not electronic.

The slowly disappearing smile near the end was perfect.

It's unlikely that an engaging plot has no holes in it and it's the sceenwriter's job to distract the audience from thinking about them. Still, this channel is a good acid wash for mediocre writers to make them aware of the fact audiences might be smarter than they are.

There are ton of movies with no holes in the story. Characters just have to act rationally and situations have to be created naturally. And if it is a sci-fi or fantasy all they have to do is establish rules and then follow them(or don't establish them but then don't pretend that there are some rules). Recently Finch or Dune were done quite nicely. Writers are just lazy or prefer simplified plotlines so that the audience don't have to think too much or the writers don't know the way to show the plot in a way that is entertaining.

Not sure if anyone had mentioned this. The nanotechnology dna thing was done nearly just like this in Metal Gear Solid, ps1 game, years ago! Even used solid snake to get to the target because he had it in his system. It was called “FoxDie”

Reminded me of the MGSV [redacted] that kill anyone who [redacted] specific [redacted]. Just like Kojima to revisit concepts.

To think that I actually enjoyed this pitch meeting more than anything I saw on the actual movie.

In my opinion, going this connected stories way for James Bond was a huge mistake. They should have just done one offs. That's more James Bond style.

@Mr. Stuff Doer The character arc from jaded killer/shagger machine to self-sacrifice is there but it's not the best example.

I love the sheer joy and excitement of the producer when he hears how the henchman was killed.

After spectre i thought that they couldnt have a more underwhelming villain. I was wrong , Rami malek was even more underwhelming. I dont mind Bond dying but they just killed him because it was Daniels last outing as Bond and you could feel from the beginning he is gonna die. Pity, a great villain like Le chiffre couldnt kill Bond but an underwhelming villain does.

The Twilight Series keeps me laughing. I never really liked the series but a girlfriend at the time insisted...all the points you make ring true even she laughs a little. Good stuff!

Have to say, I really enjoyed this one, and the film too

I remember in Skyfall we had young Q emphasising how silly SF gadgets were to be avoided. Yet here we have silly magic nanobots (so 1990s!).

*NANO MACHINES.... SON* THEY HARDEN IN RESPONSE TO PHYSICAL TRAUMA!

To be fair, they did do a really good job of keeping Craig Bond grounded in real life for most of his tenure. Then they got the rights to Blofeld and SPECTRE back, and, well... I guess you could say they got a _little_ carried away.

The nano bots that Bond got poisoned with at the end were actually designed to kill anyone that he touched. So him rather dying made sense.
