@King in the North me too. The Broncos only issue is QB. The Colts on the other hand have an atrocious o line. Wilson playing better is much more likely than the Colts o line suddenly not being awful.

I think he got a lot of his flaws hidden for a long time being on a stacked team. But I also think that the freakish longevity of Brady and Brees kinda made people forget that a QB in his mid 30s is probably going to be declining.

@BronsonBAMNAllen statistically Brees was still playing great but only played 12 games in 2020 and 11 games in 2019. 27-4 td-int and a 74 comp% and 116 rating is still pretty great for 11 games.

Brees was a terrible quarterback for the last three years of his career. He didnt play great into his 40s.

When the Seahawks were superbowl contenders, Russel Wilson was a complimentary piece. It was the defense that led the way. But I guess over the years as there's been turnover, the team has had to rely on more on Wilson to go out and win games which has led to what we've got today. With all the Broncos gave up to get him, I think they'll run out of time before they can be good with Russ.

As a Seahawks fan I was originally upset about the Wilson trade as my thinking was that Pete Carroll is in his 70s and would probably retire before Russell so it made no sense to pick the coach in a dispute. But now I can rather happily admit that I was an idiot and didn't know what I was talking about! The Seahawks are pretty whatever this year and I don't really expect them to make the playoffs but the Broncos aren't going anywhere either. Seattle is "winning" the trade pretty much just on how each team is playing to expectations. The Broncos were supposed to be contenders with the addition of Russell and they suck. Seattle has Denver's first round pick in the draft and it could very well be a higher position than Seattle's which is hilarious.

Draft picks are a good thing for a team to have. Now, the Seahawks have many, and the Broncos have few.

I understand that it's early in the season and I understand it's a new QB working with a new offence, and vice versa position players working with a new QB. With all of that being taken into account, I am STILL shocked at how poorly Russell Wilson has been playing...He's consistently making the wrong reads, and he's missed wide open guys multiple times which is why I think KJ Hamler reacted the way he did when he wasn't thrown the ball when he was wide open...It's insane how terrible the Broncos' move for Russell Wilson is looking already, going to be interesting to see how the rest of the season plays out for them.

That play blew my mind. Hamler should have been first read on that rub route and he was wide open. Maybe SB flashbacks scared him away from it?

Really what it is is his decision making is bad because he's not a well rounded enough player, and, additionally, he has a chip on his shoulder. Combine that with his inflated ego and it makes for a QB that doesn't grow. He has talent, but doesn't work to make himself a great player and instead always works to showcase his strengths. He has natural talent and is a hard worker, but is not a great player and never has been a great player because of his approach.

You could literally get most any game manager qb in the league backup or otherwise to run that team especially with that impressive defense. No doubt his salary will impact the salaries of others on the team. He could be replaced with anyone and the X factor people expected isn't there. Cooper Rush is a better option and cheaper.

Sure, the offenses were terrible without a doubt, but both D's brought serious heat as well. And the Broncos D was without Randy Gregory last night as well. As a lifelong Seattle Seahawks fan I definitely understand about the running the ball instead of passing in the end zone. And I'm not defending Wilson at all here he's 100% to blame for everything going on in Denver. But people fail to mention the fact the receiver he wanted to throw the ball to originally slipped and almost fell. So he waited to see if he would get open a little too long.

Don't forget that as late as 2017, when Kaepernick was let go by SF, there were rumors that the defense in SEA wanted management to sign him as a backup, but the front office was worried that it would undermine Russ because the defense had been calling him a boat anchor for years.

Bobby Wagner didn't find out through twitter that he was let go, he found out through seahawks staff but PC and JS just hadn't contacted him yet. The way wagner tweeted about it, made it seem like he found out through the internet, but he later went on the eisen show I think it was, and clarified. As far as the little whispers about wilson from ex teammates and how they felt about him. Doug Baldwin, who was Wilson's go-to receiver for a long time, didn't even shoutout wilson in his retirement speech, he shouted out tavaris jackson, but not wilson at all lol. Wilson was coddled in seattle, I understand why, he was a franchise QB, those are far and few between, but that didn't sit right with the rest of the team when the PC message was supposed to be accountability. It eventually festers when you preach accountability, and then you have an exception in one of the most visible players. Pete Carroll and Bevell did a masterful job of hiding Wilson's deficiencies, once RW3 had enough accolades, he wanted it to be more about him and an MVP run, he wanted to cook, because he thought he could cook, like a Rodgers, or Brady. But he isn't as good as the truly elite QBs. He's got a good deep ball, and is super accurate WHEN he can make the right reads and see the right receivers, but he doesn't consistently see them or throw them open, and his wheels are fading with age so he can't manufacture explosive scrambe plays as much.

Broncos will be really good next year. Someone said they are plug and play team and no one stopped to think if thats true or not. They'll get a veteran coach in the offseason and as they do have a good team they will be what they are. Its similar To the lakers when lebron first got there, but its much much more of a team sport. Didn't think they would look this anemic, but they had NO evidence that they would be great this year... its a process. I don't like denver but live in the area so have a fair amount of exposure.

Straight up, Russ was always going to fail here. I appreciated him as a Seahawk but once he lost his ability to extend plays and run on occasion, he became a mediocre NFL QB. His height hurts him so much when it comes to the short to mid range throws in the middle of the field. And now that hes not a real threat wuth his legs, teams just need to protect deep and the sidelines. If you look at the Seahawks for years they tried to get him a TE to give him a guy who can exploit mismatches and get him easy first downs. It never worked.

Imagine giving up 3 players, two 1st rounders, two 2nd rounders, and a 5th round pick for a player giving your team the same (slightly worse even) performance as the opposing team's QB, that they only gave up a 3rd rounder for.

As a 49er fan I'd take Russ in a HEARTBEAT I've seen what he can do multiple times a year.. every year. Pair him with Shanahan instead of a rookie head coach and he'd be an entirely different qb than he is right now.

The worst part is George Payton should have known all of this before trading for. When Seattle was a top 15 passing offense, they finished last in the nfc west. Russ looks good If you watch highlights, but if you watch games you see he misses throws cause he can't see open receivers through his line, he has gained weight, moves a little slower and is much less accurate down field than he used to be. I'm not a hawks or broncos fan and I knew these things. George Payton gets paid millions didn't see these things before the trade that set Denver back then doubled down before Russ played a down with a contract that all but guarantees no SB chance in Denver til at least 26

Seattle fan here. We had to build our O-line around Russ. We opted for fast lengthy guys to acclimate to his backyard BS. And they STILL couldn't block for him half the time. His game almost requires the play to break down, and that's when he gouges you. Going somewhere with an established offensive line, I just had a feeling he would struggle outside of that system, but it's even worse than I figured it would be. Now he's trying to stay healthy, so he isn't running nearly as often, and that was a massive threat in his first 2 seasons that is no longer feared or respected in the NFL.

I live in the Seattle area and have been a Bronco fan since I was 10 years old. I’ve been calling Russ a fake for at least ten years and saw that he is an average NFL QB. I was happy to see him leave Seattle where many wrongfully worshipped him but so sad to see him go to the broncos.

Russ is talented-you have to be to make it this long in the NFL. That said, he’s always been shielded. No, he never got MVP votes-but he never got blamed, either. Pete Carroll took the hit for his Super Bowl losing INT. The team took the hit when he wasn’t winning playoff games. Then he said he wanted to cook, and didn’t have any ingredients. So he went to what I was told was a fully stocked kitchen and he set the damned thing on fire. I'm with you on this. As a Hawks fan I will be eternally grateful to that Superbowl winning roster including Russ. He keeps himself out of the news and stays positive. I wouldn't be surprised if he lights it up one of these games and catches fire. Part of me is of course happy that the Seahawks look better in this trade but part of me will always have loyalty to Russ. If he's not injured he'll figure it out. Russ is absolutely not mentally weak. He stays positive and the negativity will fuel him. Doesn't mean he'll be amazing but I would never close the book on him. When he's on, he's on. Guys, I’m not saying Russ has been anything short of disappointing this year, but he’s also a QB playing with a team that is adjusting to a new HC and a new QB in the same year. Still not sold on Hackett, but these things take time to build. Not sure what Bronco fans and the rest were expecting, Russ has been playing exactly like this for the last few years if not his whole career, fortunately for us hawk fans squeking out some close wins, this really shouldn't be surprising.

people do not realize the physical strength difference between DK and sutton. Russ's last resort was chucking the ball in hopes that Sutton could overpower an excellent coverage by Gilmore. Maybe that was also a habbit russel had in seattle, but clearly there is a difference in skills and physicality between DK and sutton.

Let’s not forget… Seattle wanted to trade him years ago for rights to draft Mahomes and Josh allen the other year. Both had high ceilings but not sure things. I really wish that happened.

And they obviously didn't care if Russ knew they were looking at other QB's. They probably wanted him to know so he would ask to be traded to one of 4 teams.

It makes things even worse when you don’t play a single snap during preseason. The Chiefs are in the AFC championship every year and their starters played quite a bit of preseason. Why the hell did Wilson not play at all in preseason? It’s a new QB AND coach.

The shortened preseason, new team. Absolutely I think it makes a difference. But the big salary and high expectations set the stage for a huge disappointment. This in conjunction with a new head coach that has made head scratching decisions and poor clock management. Yeah disaster. I still think it is early and thing may work out. I guess we will see. I really think Broncos made a mistake going with Hackett. You can't tell me Sean Payton running this team wouldn't be in a much better position.

Wilson has played in 1 offense his entire career. He's hit a learning curve. It's possible he overcomes it.

On that opening clip, russ stared at that one receiver the entire play. Thats like jv quarterbacking. Even if he did plan to throw to him the whole time, he should’ve started looking to the right

As a Bills fan I was worried that there is a lot of great QB's in the AFC, but Russ isn't performing well with his new team, Carr is slowly coming around to learning he CAN'T lean on Adams, Tua is not in a good way with his back to back concussions, Matty looks to be on ice,........like I said I'm a Bills fan so I see it as KC & the Bills as the top tier and the only thing that can keep either of those 2 teams out are injuries or a complete meltdown.

Mahomes, Allen, Jackson, Herbert, and potentially Watson. I’ll be rooting for the Bills to finally win it this year.

i was such a huge fan of Wilson, even after he cost me a few grand with that int in the SB, i really think he lost his drive and competitive spirit. has the $$ the wife , doesnt really need to excel anymore. That scenario could've played out with Brady, but that's why he's the goat

I was shocked when Russell Wilson got the contract that he did. His time in Seattle he was completely carried by that defense. Don't get me wrong he's a decent quarterback but he's not one of the top tier and never has been as they've tried to portray him as. Also doesn't help that he's a diva. It was fun watching Sherman go in on him.

Russell hasn’t been the same since he threw an interception instead of handing off to Beastmode for what should have been his second ring. It has been a steady downhill slide since then, both with his playing and very noticeable deterioration in his leadership skills, which I attribute to his arrogance. Denver bragged so much about finally getting a “franchise quarterback again”. Instead, they got an arrogant ass whose best years are behind him.

Russ has always been six inches too short and a half second to slow on his releases. He still needs to learn the routes and his receivers. The team should be built around his experience.

Russell Wilson usually plays well in the beginning of a season but then falls off a cliff in the second half. To see him like this now is concerning.

I don’t think he will become elite but I do think it’ll eventually get better. People don’t like hearing it but it is a completely new thing and takes time to develop. Tom wasn’t this bad but TB didn’t click until late in the season. I think by seasons end the offense will be manageable but not great. I don’t think he will play to the level to warrant all that went to getting him - but realistically anything besides being top of the league in performance wouldn’t warrant ir because they paid such an immense price in the trade and contract to get him there.

@DD Mahomes may be the exception. Time will tell. For the most part though it's almost over for a team after their star QB signs a insane contract. I've yet to see a team operate like a dynasty such as the Patriots with a Russell Wilson or mahomes or Rodgers contract. It just doesn't happen really if at all. They may make it to the playoffs but winning the Superbowl is a different story

I feel that he needs to get more experience with the team but if he isn't doing anything by next season there's gonna be some problems and with Nathaniel there were other good coaches we could've chosen and if he doesn't change the team by next season I'm sure he will be gone.

As a rams fan, I always hated the “we’re trying to go 1-0 every week” type talk. RW never felt like a genuine human and this change/performance has kinda exposed that.

Seahawks fans have seen the decline the last few years, especially as he scrambles less. Denver got fleeced with that trade and I hope Denver and Russ continue to implode. He is so phony, almost robotic. It's no wonder so many former Seahawks can't stand him.

Wilson is awful now. It's crazy. There have been some questionable play calls but that team was pretty good before Russ...

One thing I have learned over the years watching the NFL is most teams think they will be great and are excited about their new players...or at least the fans do and are. But they only think about their team and not the fact that every other team has the same mindset and goal with a fanbase just as hyped up as them. So I learned to let the season play out a bit before I ever get excited about my team.

You’re right the NFL is so unpredictable(obviously) I couldn’t fathom my Giants being 4-1. You just never know if/when teams will click.

Wilson forced his way out of Seattle the Seahawks didn’t want to trade him. Wilson is now seen as a traitor in Seattle. I am still shocked that the Bronco’s gave up all the compensation and signed him to the big contract before Wilson ever played a game.
