Usually we are attacked more from one direction – in this cases both ends of the spectrums are really upset. Anything relating to nutrition is very controversial unfortunately. We tried very hard not to do that and get a real understanding what the health effects of meat are. We also did not have a particular bias, we have vegetarians, flexitarians and meat eaters in the team. And in general, since our first meat video many of us have reduced their meat consumption or at least try to. Others in the team have not changed at all and don't plan to. We don't have an overarching agenda here, one way or the other. There is a video about milk in the making right now and we also just started a video about veganism. One of the really important details missing from this video is something that can be learned from the Health and Fitness industry, specifically Bodybuilding. That fact is that "Everyone's Body is Different" and no one diet will work for everyone. Some people really do need to reduce their meat intake and many others need to dramatically increase their intake. Some of these changes may be due to genetic predispositions toward certain diseases and a good deal of dietary needs will be different depending on what goals you're trying to accomplish. It would have been valuable to point out that a person's diet may need to change depending on what they are trying to accomplish. For example, Carbohydrates are a non-essential nutrient. You're body does NOT need Carbohydrates to survive. Also, the most reliable way to reduce bodyfat is to reduce or eliminate your Carb intake. Ketogenic diets are a good example of this. One neat fact is that a purely meat-based diet eliminates the need for Vitamin C and destroys the argument you provided regarding Scurvy since you need FAR less Vitamin C in your diet if you're not consuming carbohydrates. So, let's say your goal is to lose weight, a High Protein and Fat diet with very low or no Carbohydrates would be best. Let's take a look at another circumstance though. Say you want to build as much muscle as possible. Carbohydrates are fantastic for Bodybuilding and tend to be a staple in any gym-rat's diet. Carbohydrates supply much need glucose to the muscles very rapidly and make a great post/pre workout food option. The body can't convert protein or fat into sugar as rapidly as it can Carbohydrates and so Carbs are the go-to food source. Fats...these guys get a bad rap based on misinformed preconceptions regarding proper nutrition and what causes obesity. Your brain is roughly 60+% made of Fat! Fat is an essential nutrient that body NEEDS to have. It insulates all your organs, makes up many of the tissues in your body, and is a very good source of energy. The problem that we've had the past 50yrs or so is a misunderstanding of what leads to obesity and Fat took the fall for it. When it comes to weight, Carbs are the real bad guys: Our brains are addicted to Sugar (Carbs are the quickest source) and we tend to crave it, leading to overconsumption of Carbohydrates, which results in consuming more calories than our bodies can burn/use, or need, then causing the excess energy to be converted and stored as fat. Now, all that being said. Not everyone responds the same to certain diets due to allergies, genetics, and macronutrient needs. Not everyone has the same activity level, or type of activity being done, etc etc. Some people have certain preferences. Each individual is going to require a custom tailored diet to achieve the specific health outcome they're going for. This was very long-winded, but let me say thank for another well done video. I disagree with you in general that meat intake should be reduced for most people (for the reasons I gave in the first paragraph amongst others), but for some it is good info.

I've been on the carnivore diet for 3 months. It cured my chronic fatigue, weakness and severe gut problems I was having. Eating red meat does not cause disease. Eating red meat does not increase your risk of cancer, diabetes or stroke. That is utter nonsense!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but spinach doesn't have more iron than meat. The original study that found this in the 80s had a misprint with the decimal point in the wrong place when describing the amount of iron in spinach. It still has more iron than most other plants, but far, far, less than meat.

@Raviteja Pula I disagree that non vegetarians are creating more deforestation than vegans/vegetarians. Large swaths of forests are being destroyed for omniculture produce farms that take an entire season to grow compared to animals that eat grass/hay which grows much quicker. Edit: I do believe though a balanced diet is better for your health, not just eating one or the other.

STOP, moderation is good. If you just eat vegetables, it is likely you will have zinc and various mineral deficiencies which requires a large quantity of plant massacre. Eating plants counts as killing. Meat made our ancestors smarter and became what we are today. I am not here to stop you from being or becoming a vegetarian, but I hope people are becoming vegans for a good reason, not an idea they obsessed with and say “OH meat sucks I am vegan I am best, I never harm life!” THERE IS NO ABSOLUTE in science or philosophy, and no matter what you eat, accept the TRUTH: if you don’t KILL or consume the DEAD, you don’t LIVE. So why not moderation, it’s a perspective too. And FACTS have perspectives, STOP TELLING PEOPLE TO BECOME VEGAN BECAUSE YOU WANT THEM TO LIVE LIKE YOU, don’t get people to obsess with ideas, convince them for a good reason. I'm glad to see that not eating meat is made an open and popular topic. Often culture is to blame as well. For me it was simple : just try it for a month and see how you feel. I felt better without meat and no problem to leave it out. Then 5 years later I decided the same thing to see if vegan would give me problems; Well I have to admit to miss cheese a lot and we have our own chickens so eggs are still in. But I managed well and I'm now proud to say I chose to have a vegan diet. Often people ask "if I am allowed this or that" which completely illustrates the 'unknown' about diets; It's not like you join a club or religion that prescribes you their rules, WE DECIDED TO USE OUR BRAINS. That's all.

Pretty disappointed with this as I've read some papers on meat/fats/carbohydrates. This video completely ignores that your diet is the biggest factor in your metabolic process and what you combine meat/fats with is the biggest factor how your organism reacts. Judging by this Ketogenic dieters would have cancers all over and suffer from diabetes, while it actually cures type 2 diabetes. Giving up on meat might be healthier in your opinion , but you actually break the cycle of nature for the “health” you are looking for.

It is. But every substance has a limit to how much u can consume. You seem to have a good diet, but eating protein, dairy, vegetables, and water is also essential. Short=yes eat fruit but don't become one
