@mjdryden I’m on my 4th screen protector for my iPhone 7+ and it needs to be changed as I type. I can assure you my screen would have required replacement on at least 3 of those drops, even wrapped in a protective case. I even had my battery changed last year without the tech needing to remove the screw cover.

I’ve had the top of the line human sized version of all the iPhone generations and aside from the year I first got the freakishly large version (never again), I’ve never managed to break anything. Typically each iPhone stays in use for about five years through the in-family eco-system and most of them have made it all the way to my archive of old but functional disused Apple hardware without much wear. That being said, I still appreciate the entertainment value of this durability test! A durability test that would actually make a difference to me, given how I use my iPhones, would be a test of iPhone cases. I’ve tried going off-brand for more extreme supposed durability and I’ve tried both clear plastic, silicone and leather cases produced by Apple. For the cases, I’ve found that Apple leather cases seem to last about as long as I use the particular iPhone – a year or so. All non-leather cases I’ve tried have started smelling bad before the year was up. The worst of the bunch was a supposedly waterproof case I got for one of the last iPhone models that wasn’t in it self waterproof. The silicone plug over the charging port prevented moisture from escaping but somehow didn’t keep moisture out. The leather cases, on the other hand, have reminded me that I shouldn’t handle my phone while rinsing fish, processing game, or just generally being covered in mud and/or sweat – thus the leather cases have stayed fresh longer and also done a better job of protecting my iPhones.

I’ve been a fan of Dbrand for a while, since the s10, now I’m using it on my iphone13. Best case hands down, the grip is an actual grip. (They have improved the case design since the s10) Honestly the case is as only good as the grip. I’ve broken my screen with otter box and UAG. Case is good but only helps so much(same with dbrand).

Vor 4 Tage

4:28 "for the time being" I laughed because, you're more than likely right. Soon enough they'll rid the charging port and tell you to go buy a third party (or Apple made) wireless charger. All for "creating less waste for the environment" while their dubious anti-repair and activation lock schemes are causing tons of e-waste.

I’ve owned Apple phones since the iPhone three. I’ve never had a screen break front or back. ,I’ve had the phone completely bent were rocks on flat surfaces, and the screen was still OK. I’ve had a corner smashed in the screen still fine. In most circumstances, using recycled products increases the cost.

@Aveka Kristianto you gave a faulty extrapolation. And who says you can't eat your cake, anyone can have their cake & eat it too, who says you can't, that silly old saying. I'm talking about the nuisance of needing to charge a watch as opposed to never needing to even change a battery on my solar powered mechanical watch with a perpetual calender (i.e. never needs to be manually adjusted - it's always accurate automatically) and a waterproof rating of 200m.

Samsung galaxy watch pro lasts for 80 hours in normal usage. And can last me a week in low power mode and not keeping the bluetooth always on. On Android bluetooth connectivity is seamless so that's no problem and one week is pretty good. Even in heavy usage 3 days isn't bad either. Just charge it twice a week!

Vor 4 Tage

Vor 4 Tage

@Levi Guyan no, not "nah mate" - I say low power mode doesn't count, since those fancy mod-con features are excluded in low-power mode. And if you need to charge a watch every day (or thereabouts) bloody hell, afaic your're a brain-dead fashion victim. Adding to our already complicated life we now have to keep track of the nuisance of charging a watch for two hours? Fu_k that shit. Go jump in the lake matey 😆 PS: and you use what, sleep tracking & an alarm ROFL I don't need anything to track my sleep, & my alarm is already on my normal watch

Vor 4 Tage
Levi Guyan
Levi Guyan

@Axel Foley Nah mate. Really a non-issue for me as a Series 7 owner. First off, the battery life is probs 1 1/2 to 2 days even though it's advertised as 18hrs. And I just take it off and charge it when I have a shower in the morning and get dressed etc. The fast charging usually tops it back up to 80ish% from the 40%ish charge it's on when I wake up (I use it for sleep tracking and an alarm). I've never run out of battery with it. So I assume this Apple Watch Ultra on Low Power Mode could last like 4 or 5 days depending on the actual usage.

Unfortunately it seems Apple is still locking out parts with Firmware. Im guessing when they release the parts for repairs under their repair program it will be just as expensive as the 13 was. I wish they would stop artificially making it inconvenient to repair their stuff in an attempt to get people to say "fuck it" and upgrade, rather than repair. Fortunately with enough care you could mitigate most damage to the phone, but the battery will wear out eventually.

Great test again always through and with lots of satire thrown in there it’s always fun to watch these durable test done on the new phones that come out. I will say that apple users typically keep their phones longer than Samsung and they also keep the software up to date for those that want to keep their old phones but still want an update on the OS. So yes sometimes Apple sticks to the same or similar design while improving the tech to make it work. It is more about an ecosystem where if you are in it then it makes sense. You tend to lose some or most of the configurable like other phones and to those in the Apple ecosystem then it is something that makes sense to them. It also good to have choices and each to their own and what they like. So if you like it then you like. I’m still using my Apple iPhone 8 and will upgrade to the iOS 16 (5 almost 6 years old) thanks Apple !

The fact that Apple - as one of the most successful and wealthy companies in the world expects people to pay for a service (SOS) after two years is wrong…..

zack, i would love it if you used a zippo lighter for the burn test. you could work in a a litle gimmick when in every episode you light your zippo with a new trick. i would love that

Awesome like always from you 👍🏼 Would be nice to see how the Matt glass on the pro models behave with scratches at level six and deeper grows at level 7 😉😊

Since new aluminum production is fundamentally "running electricity through dirt" it has always been pretty easy to use alternative energy sources for it - Alcoa has used geothermal power in iceland for 40+ years, with no carbon footprint beyond shipping the bauxite in and aluminum out. (That's long enough that it primarily happened because it was actually cheaper, too, rather than environmental concerns...)

I never understand the purpose of scratching and bending the phone with full strength I mean, even the theif of your phone won't do that. but I myself watch all videos of this channel😂

Did Apple put in an in screen fingerprint sensor yet? Its surprisingly if they didn't since Samsung has been doing it since 2019.

When iPhones get heat, the tend to drop their brightness(like some Androids, when they run heavy benchmark or game)

What a coincidence with Apples repairability when EU is pushing new directive for mobiles phone sustainability and repairability 🤣

I love that guy. I wouldn't really be a fan of such a system anyways, as even if I get lost somewhere, my first priority would be survival and relocating to a better area to call for help. Not whether or not my phone has signal to call the satellites on me. Despite that, this is a situation I'll never get in. But the fear of getting in that situation will get into the brains of most Apple consumers and force them to pay a subscription... for nothing. Of course, if you've ever lost in the wild right before the time to pay your subscription, you can instead become an animal's next gourmet meal. So how about we see if the iPhone 14 paid it's subscription and will have the satellites come help it when it's burning. If it was me I'd use a hammer in the bend test.

I think the brightness wasn't broken at the low level, it only did that safety thing that puts the phone on battery saving mode. At least it seemed to be bright again at the end
