As a former band person, the bit about drummers is so accurate tho. It would drive so many people insane because if someone was a drummer, they were drumming all the time. One of my friends would curl his pointer fingers and drum using his knuckles on books, desks, the walls, etc. So there is a stigma, but it is the most deserved stigma ever.

actually if you think about the lie itself, changing the family member prob wouldn't have made a difference. The whole point of lying was to seem like she had a famous family member to get in with the popular crew. And so if you make up one that nobody's heard of they'd be sus. The movie passed that over by attacking tess' ego insinuating she wouldn't know this famous person, and ofc she won't admit she's wrong so that part could have worked if she changer her mom to an uncle in the lie. But they still would have found out her mom was the cook regardless. So tess would have made fun of her for that and expose her as a liar anyways...and then prob come to the conclusion she was lying about her uncle too so it wouldn't have mattered as long as her mom was there. The only way she could have successfully lied is to make sure her mom pretended not to know her and she used a fake name so nobody could make the link.

Ok, I got an answer from my friend a few days ago. It should have taken a day or two since we talk pretty much every day, but some unexpected family stuff is happening to me which derailed things. Sorry to keep you all in suspense. His very anti-climatic answer is that, yes, they did teach us scaling up ingredients and he's ~pretty sure~ they taught us about adjusting the cooking time and temperature.

IIRC, We were taught to go through a process of converting all the individual measurements to something that could then be collectively multiplied. We would often have to arbitrarily up or downscale recipes just for the practice.
