Grim Reaper Game (or 13 seconds). This was a legendary performance by Mahomes. Allen was really good. Brady Manning never had a playoff game where both of them dominated at the same time like this.

This was mindblowing - the ability to continually overcome impossible odds and make exceptional mundane was breathtaking. Also, this was the most competitive division round weekend that I've ever seen. The last time I saw such emotion and will to win was when Kellen Winslow was dragged off the field in the Dolphin's 1981 divisional playoff. Incredible.

If you go look at the throws Allen made to him, each one was either 1) a great read of the defense, 2) going through progressions and seeing the field well or 3) both. Either way, it was outstanding quarterback play from a guy whose top 2 favourite targets were held to 16 yards combined.

Knox (or Sanders or whoever) and Diggs are not in the top 10. And those 2 combined for 16 yards in the game. 16 yards. Still Allen found a way to keep pace with Mahomes, while Bills defense allowed Mahomes to throw to Hill and Kelce all day.

Without their #1 defender in Tre White though. Still a good team, but when you're playing an offense with as many weapons as the Chiefs, you need as many good corners as you can get. Whoever the Bills had left, Levi Wallace/Dane Johnson or whoever they were, definitely couldn't hold a candle to that offense. Similarly, if Chiefs had Honey Badger for the whole game, I think their pass defense would've looked much better too.

The Bills defense stalled at the end. You could see how tired they were. That was the painful part to watch. Gabriel Davis put on a show, but the defense couldn't seal the deal.

What all of these former coaches fail to understand is (and it is why he is a former coach and not a current coach)...if you swap the squib kick for the first play to Tyreek Hill, it would have been the same field position and the same amount of time off the clock as the play that they ran. They guy that fields it returns it to the 35 or 45 and it runs off 4 or 5 seconds...or what if the kick goes out of bounds...same thing, it's a penalty, dead ball and the Chiefs get the ball at the 45 to start and still have 13 seconds. With the squib kick, they would have still hit Kelce, and still had a timeout...and Buttkicker would have still hit the field goal.

@Eric Hemmelgarn No it would not. The clock starts when it is touched. Hill or anyone could have downed the ball instantly with no time off the clock. Now you have an even shorter field with 13 seconds to go.

@AlvaCuh - Dude the CLOCK DOESN'T START ON THE KICK. If they squib kick it and a Chief falls on it at the 40....they are in the same place that they were AFTER the Hill play and have MORE time. Not to mention the risk of accidently squibbing it out of bounds, being penalized and the Chiefs getting the ball on about the freaking 50 with no time off the clock. All that I'm saying is that when you have the #1 defense in just about every category, you push them as deep as possible and believe that your defense won't give up 45 yards in 13 seconds.

Not only that IF the chiefs return the kick to the 40 or 50 chew 7 seconds off. Pat mahomes gets 1 play for 15+ yards to kick a game winner…. Then again we coming in here and saying the Shoulda Coulda Would of’s Again for that scenario. Praise mahomes and Reid and That’s that.

the kickoff was not the issue, 13 seconds is not alot of time. who really thought that was enough time to get into fg range. it was just crazy, maybe not dropping defenders so deep keeps those gains shorter

you can grab/kneel in 1second. We've seen squib kicks go out of bounds. We've seen the other team grab the kick right away before it gets back there. so maybe 3 seconds but again they are starting at the 40ish. also tyreek hill could take it to the house and it's game over. It's not a certainty. KC had 3 seconds to scare and the kicker could make it from 15 yards further than he had to kick it from.

Two games and the number 13 made Cowboys fans feel even worse than they already do. It only took 13 points to beat Aaron Rodgers, and 13 seconds for the Chiefs to run 3 plays.

3-5 seconds is beyond a stretch to expect that much time to come off the clock, due to a squib kick. Possession down 2 max.

Rex hit it on the head at the end of this video - the play is to cover, like they did, but you gotta man up the studs. Put a guy on kelce and hill, and zone everyone else, rush even two not even three, and let mahomes throw down the middle to none of his best options, or run like dak cause that's the only play. I know people don't relate to madden as much but in clock management theres something you can do. 6 seconds left guy is about to throw the ball in the endzone, he's inside your ten. hes going for it. well instead of blitzing (lets say he has a few timeouts to call if he gets sacked and kick a field goal on you to end the half), what you do is man and zone guys, including the de's. Maybe throw one of the de's in the spy. whatever you do, you want that 6 seconds to come and go. If he's looking around for options, and he does so for a bit more time and doesn't want to force a throw, then the no pressure setup allows the play to run. You gotta manage that time better if you're buffalo. they got a bit timid and tried not to show it with the normal kick or didn't think. then they got too average when it was time to buckledown and make kc run out of time.

This was the "true" Super Bowl. All of the remaining games will pale in comparison to this game.

Ravens-Steelers AFC Championship game that ended with the epic hit on McGahee was better. 2006 AFC Championship Colts-Patriots 38-34 was insane. I can think of a few other equally entertaining games. Not even counting some incredible Super Bowls. This one was right up there. One thing to remember is that "Terrible Secondary Play By Both Teams" does not always equal "Best". Otherwise the Big-12 is the "Best" NCAA conference, when we all know it's the SEC.

It’s hard to call the non-squib kick a mistake. It doesn’t matter if you’re the Jets or Lions or Jaguars. No NFL defense should lose when they’re up 3 with the opponent in their own 25 with 13 left. And the Bills had the top passing defense in the NFL. McDermott put faith in his defense. The bills did all they could on their last possession and the kick. Their biggest mistake was keeping outside leverage, 1-on-1 with Kelce at the end when the Chiefs still had 2 timeouts. The corner was playing to keep him in bounds, which doesn’t matter at all if you’ve got a timeout in that situation. Whole stadium and everyone watching knew that ball was going to either Kelce or Hill. And the Bills didn’t press either of them.

The last couple of minutes of the games this weekend remind me of Chess legend Mikhail Tal quote, “You must take your opponent into a deep dark forest where 2+2=5, and the path leading out is only wide enough for one.” ...

I'm sorry everyone, but the entire NFL nation lost on a wonderful game between the Bills & Chiefs. The NFL overtime rules suck so bad. These are trained athlete professionals that played a wonderful back and forth battle. With these rules, the Bills had no chance to march back down the field and score within a time period as the game has always; fairly, been played. It would have been the same if the situation was reversed and the Bills scored first in overtime. I feel the whole NFL nation was robed by these NFL overtime rules. Thank you so much Bills & Chiefs. You gave us such a wonderful show. And shame on you NFL for robing us of an honest conclusion of such a great back and forth war of a game. Change NFL overtime rules!!!!

People are focused on the 13 seconds left, but Mahomes actually did that in just 10 seconds! *TEN!!!* He left the Chiefs with 3 seconds remaining to setup & kick a FG. That's what amazes me even more... Such perfect play calls, optimal execution & optimal clock control. I don't think any other team or QB (aside from maybe Josh Allen last night) would've been able to pull that off.

@Deuce Spades Prescott really needed to slide a few yards earlier. Would have bought them some extra time to get setup for the spike play. He got greedy and kept running just a little bit too long. Cowboys paid him $75 million this season. Jerry can't feel too great about that after seeing the end of the Chiefs game only a week after Prescott's terrible clock management.

That makes it even worse for the cowboys then because they couldn't spike the ball in 14 seconds
