It's amazing to see how the components that react with each other in different ways click in their minds to find the solution. You just need to have all that knowledge at that instant.

My takeaway from the video: if the contestants had been savvy, they could have saved a ton of time by just shoving their safe over instead of melting the gallium!

Find a person who would prefer knocking something over instead of getting to use an actual lightsaber.

Time consuming is not the improvement, it's the first step to bring an idea alive. That's how Apple works, mostly improvements from things that were already there.

If the government funded this guy's billions and resources just for the sole reason of actually creating a lightsaber just like in star wars, they would've actually achieved it in about a year or 2

Given that the smallest mistake can cause an accident which results in at least a 3rd degree burn, its safe to say that yes a real lightsaber is highly dangerous.

I can't wait to see what the next stepping stone will be to see you walk over to make the lightsaber more closer to the real thing.

if only there was an extremely heat resistant material like hafnium carbide that was flexible enough to be rolled and retracted into a formable tub with a cap on top that resides in the handle which is able to retract and detract so you can control the height and retain the flame. Also making it able to hit things.

It's a really good thing that you shipped it instead of carry on it cargo because the TSA and Customs can take literally anything they want and just say they had suspicion of wrongdoing, and it's INSANELY difficult to get your stuff back.

i think a way you can make the lightsabers have impact is by having a small rod extend when ignited? but hidden when its off? sorta combining the two ideas of both lightsabers you've made? i dunno much about this stuff tho

This is amazing! I know I may get flak for this but technically this is not a lightsaber..a lightsaber uses lasers instead of combustible gas. Side note that light sabers can get up to 40K degrees Fahrenheit and are contained by a force field so you can't feel their heat unless something passes through the field. This sort of technology would be harder to implement with gas and flame, than lasers.

It's a protosaber, he just refers to it as a lightsaber for the sake of marketing and ease.

What's cool is that these were actually canon before Disney bought star wars. There were lightsabers called proto sabers where there was a wire at the end of the saber connected to a battery pack.
