Man i played ark for 4k+ hours now and seeing players enjoy the game as you guys are beings tear to my eyes, it reminds me of the time where tek wasnt a thing and i just started playing the game

I started watching a long time ago when I was playing a ton of rust and your content has always been top notch. I love the ark content tho, it looks like a really fun game, I love watching videos of people playing it.

Tips: you should put your game difficulty to 1, you can put Pretzal onto "Ignore Group Whistles," get resource harvesting dinos, and you can use dododex if you want

being a ark veteran, these videos are so fun to watch. seeing new players explore the game and seeing all different types of creatures and wondering around the map exploring. what i wouldnt do to go back to this. keep these videos coming!

They can’t there’s no creature in ark that can carry a platform and go underwater

i speek of expiriens that you do not want to go swim in the Oceans of ark there are sharks, squids, eals, yellyfish and more

Pro tip: tickle chickens have one of the highest melee damage per swing of the entire game. And a fast attack speed. Also, there is really no point in taming low level dinos once you get a few basic dinos. Taming a level 10 versus a max level 150 is only a matter of more arrows/darts and more food. Been playing this game with friends since early access, and started over many times on public and private server wipes. Even when we don't have a single dino and are going for our first (a ptera) we run the beach until we find something at least 135 or above (official servers dino levels are in increments of 5). Thirdly: the favored early-game way to knock out a quetzal is to have someone fly a ptera behind it while a second player is in the ptera's talons and shooting the quetz.

@game stuff I tamed one by carrying a Scorpion with an Argy and having the Scorpion hit the Quetz.

I usually start with a Griffin and then grab a Quetz

Not to mention use of bolas for PTs lol

Just eat rare flowers and the passives will attack you. Use it for Taps and Quetz.

I love that Porgie is only leveling movement speed because that's exactly what I did the first time I played Ark. It annoyed my brother to no end, but being able to run faster than pretty much everything is a pretty effective survival strategy

only get health, fortitude, attack strength, and weight (maybe stamina if you don’t get Dino’s early but normally not) everything else is useless

@HedgyGaming Humans actually ignored speed, and instead focused on endurance more than almost any other animal. Humans are persistence hunters, which means that we would pick an animal and literally just walk at it until it had a heart attack or couldn't run away anymore. Because most creatures are made for short bursts of speed, they need long recharge times between activities, so by constantly tracking them down and forcing them to move, we would cause them to run themselves to death. It's actually likely why we tamed dogs specifically, them and horses are some of the only creatures that can keep up with humans over time.

@HedgyGaming We were more endurance than raw speed. Sweat glands baby! No really, evolving sweat glands and losing the fur greatly enhanced our endurance.

Awe man I love watching people learn this game, it's so great. Also if you have struggles tameing something don't be afraid to use Minecraft tactics to trap it, if there body sticks through walls you can hit them and they won't be able to hit you.

Never before has a game been so... almost great

I love how you are so happy for taming super low level dinos. Also you can use the whistle system to for example tell your dinos to attack the target you're looking at. And for larger amounts of smaller predators I'd highly recommend some melee weapon like a sword or pike. Even a hatchet does decent damage and you don't waste ammo. Edit: "Monkeys meet their maker" I know where this is going.

As a 6 year ark player its awesome to see one of my favorite creators learning the game. Pls make more vids on ark!

With multiple rust youtubers getting their first look at ark I would really like to see them possibly get together and try pvp in a closed ecosystem. It would be really cool to see how a group of players who understand the mechanics from a similar game work out and learn the fundamentals of pvp alongside other inexperienced players.

@Kg anyone who is as inexperienced with the game as Welyn and Spoonkid clearly are in these videos they are posting I would consider "new to ark" regardless of if they played a handful of hours years ago.

I wouldn’t say they’re getting their first look at ark. Many rust YouTubers, like the majority in the comments, have probably heard of the game before and have played it once or twice before stopping due to other reasons

Tip: you can jump from the argy mid flight and use a grappling hook onto your argy, along with a parachute to stabilize your aim, then, use the "go to" command to follow the quetz around. On higher levels you can just use a net projectile from genesis and it gets stunned for a minute.

Over the years since the game came out I’ve built up 16,000 hours and it’s so refreshing to see people who are new genuinely enjoying the game, the pvp on ark is even more toxic than rust and I hope you can mentally prepare for it if you do it someday. Thanks for the refresher!

Huge pro tip for collecting cementing paste, look for beaver dams. They give like 2 stacks of it

My quetzals tend to be war worthy as I play on pvpve servers so I usually have machine gun turrets and some ballista’s, it is super strong but I usually have a couple fixed cannons for anything that’s too tough to handle. I would recommend it for a second quetzal and then have 1 be a mostly industrial with some turrets

Quick tip: Ankylosaurs are amazing at mining rocks, obsidian, and metal. They produce way more of the stuff and significantly reduce its weight while they’re carrying it too. Just use their tail attack on any nodes you find.

@Jack Moorman no, that doesnt work. you gave to go into the ini settings and type OverrideOfficialDifficulty=5.0 for level 150 dinos

@kauri nah, it starts at 0.2 of 1 (outing the difficulty up to one will change it to the intervals for each map, ie some maps may have intervals of 4 instead of 5)

I thought 150 is just base difficulty.. aha But yeah, having high level dinos is way more fun.
