Unique objective tower tiles, helipad/landing pad, large gauntlet/open tiles. One story buildings with containers or cargo or smaller buildings on top with a removable roof for fighting inside. Maybe an arena (KT) building in the center with a complex surrounding it, how cool would that be?

I've seen your modular dungeon tiles, but i'd like to see a layered castle, potentially modular, with battlements and all. Including walls around the outside and such too.

11:30 I highly recommend doing 8 inches and not 9 inches long walkways. 9 inches long walkways are tedious to make because the rectangles inside the walkways are not round digits. While if you do 8 inches walkways, you leave 1/2 inch for the sides, 1/2 inch x2 for the gaps (for a total of 2 inches) and then you got yourself 3 squares of 2 inches wide for the centers. (which by the way is the same square as the towers, so you get a really even and good looking walkway)

@Wyloch's Armory No worries ahah, love your videos, I chanced upon this video by a stroke of luck and decided to give it a try, it's really time consuming but highly satisfying to make those, I just realized this little quack when doing walkways, but overall, I'm really satisfied with your tutorial, keep it up ! (though, you're on hiatus I believe?)

That's a good insight. I did 3" because of the tab size being 2", but you could also reduce the size of those.

Loved this video... great insights. Using the cross stitch plastic sheets for floor grating is great. However, it may save a step if you buy it in the black color rather than the white. I'm currently using it for a massive ALIENS style sci fi build.

I really like how much of a step up this is, a cut above "dig Styrofoam out of the bin". Not to disparage that aspect. It's handy. But this modular design is truly a cut above, I'm. Deffo gonna have some terrain like this. Except for the soup cans, thought they were a bit obvious. In terms of ideas, I would absolutely have a scene where the space marines actually have a full defensive wall, like imagine the devastation of Baal but with Primaris instead of blool angels haha. I believe some tyranids don't bother with measuring verticle distances? I could be wrong on that though so it would be interesting

Has anyone thought to turn these into files for a 3D printer? the design is simple and a printer should be precise enough that they clip together. You can scale up and down, produce more of each section you want and produce tons of this really quickly.

Vor 4 Monate
Frank Smedley
Frank Smedley

Hello Wyloch. You asked, in the video for ideas for the clip on pieces. I do have a suggestion. How about a section of those 12" long walkways, covered in mesh? A protected tunnel of sorts. Instead of the rigid and thick mesh you were using for detailing, I recommend using mesh gauze. This is obtainable at most craft stores that specialize in sewing crafts. Barring that, a cheap alternative is, of all things, hankies. Yes, the roughly 1x1 foot cotton cloths some people knot the corners of and wear over their bald heads. For using hankies, just remove every other thread in the mesh of threads along two sides. This leaves an open mesh of fine threads that can be molded into almost any shape desired. So, this new mesh material can be laid over a scaffolding of the craft board stuff, or other materials used as the supports for the mesh tunnel... perhaps even bent floral wire, or thin plasti-struct rods. Just before laying the mesh in place, paint it with a 50-50 mix of white glue and water to make it more pliable, and lay it across the supporting structure. If done right, it will look like tightly woven wire mesh over small support piping that is mounted to pieces like the lower halves of your railings, allowing the entire mesh tunnel to be clipped into position easily. The benefit of of this design is that it is very light weight, and easily removed to position models on the walkway, and later move them along the walkway's surface as needed, or desired.

Miniatures are definitely the stars of the show, but you're 100% right that the stage is another character. When I was studying stage design for theater they told us exactly that. The table is the third player in the game. I would love to see the ends of these walkways. If this is an industrial complex where are the walkways going? Machinery or holding tanks on larger bases, that's where! They could form anchor and center points for the terrain. They would also be the centerpiece for modular terrain like this. Have a giant tank with a creature in it? It's a bio lab! Have a giant crucible full of red hot metal? It's a Manufactorum! Have a giant crusher/grinder and some scatter "junk" terrain? It's a reclamation center! Definitely make some control panels, they'd make great objective markers. I also love the clip ons for the railings and accessories, they look like the bracketting that would be used on metal walkways like these.

This is awesome stuff giving me all kinds of ideas. First thing to make extra is corner and 180 stairs modules. Then bigger platforms. I am sloooooowly working on a production/refinery/space port thing, this fits perfectly. I have 3 armies, Ultramarines and Tau, both on the same jungle planet, the Tau are attacking the planet the Ultramarines had claimed but it is rather insignificant thus far, so it is a relatively calm transport hub, but now of course it is clearly more important. Anyway, the Ultramarines will have the more factory floor bases and mud bases, where the Tau have muddy jungle overgrowth bases, they will attack through the jungle. The Tau are mostly a metal which is copper color based metal army, coated in black, armor plates is green digital camo. Wear and tear from the jungle will first go through digicamo, reveal green base coat, then black undercoat, then the copper. The black coat over the copper burns away with heat as well. And my third army is relatively dry light brown desert themed AdMech, steel and copper mixed army. They mix it because steel is less abundant on their world and that is used for integrity, copper for the rest, and it was a way for me to use the same scenery with all armies and also copper would be just about everywhere except for the Ultramarines, they have their shit together, they don’t need to use that inferior copper material. I will almost certainly use quite a bit of this.
