After scratching phones for the past 8 years... now its time to figure out how to remove scratches and make phones look brand new again. The machine we use is this one: shop.rewa.tech/detail/refox-a... This video is not sponsored. In this video we see how much work is involved with getting minor scratches removed from smartphone displays. Can we remove a level 6 scratch? We'll see what levels of scratches this machine can get rid of.

Technically if you run it in the machine enough times you should be able to remove level 9 depending on how thick the screen is since the machine is just removing a small layer each time.

I'd be interested in using this to get the scratches off of my phone honestly, the only worry I have is by making the glass thinner it could crack more easily. BUT at the same time you're getting rid of those weakpoints so maybe it wouldn't?

I don't think it's too much of a risk with the UV glue in place. So many phones these days are water resistant that I don't think the glue is even needed in most cases

One more important thing- removing a layer of the screen thickness just making it more thinner, that mean easier to crack! But gluing of glass screen protector just improve durability of the screen!

The problem with this machine is that, by removing a thin layer of glass, you not only lose the oleophobic coating, but, also, makes the glass thinner, in other words, more likely to crack in a fall

Vor yearjon L
Very informative and good thing to know something like this exists! Thanks for sharing!
Vor 11 MonatePotatoPirate
The actual depth of those level 6 scratches is microscopic but due to the highly polished surface it’s very easy to see due to changes in the refraction properties of the glass in that area. If you made the same mark on, say a matte plastic surface you wouldn’t even be able to see it. For this reason I don’t believe it will compromise the strength in any meaningful way. The level 9 groove has actually removed a substantial amount of glass rather than just disrupting the refractive properties of the glass, so the buffer machine would probably never be able to buff it out

Had almost all my phones without protectors, only phone with a protector was a Sony Ericsson Xperia - the first ever. The protector was so shitty that I scrapped it and today a s9 and 4 years in use, the front glass is perfect , well those non visible scratches, but the back glass is broken on several corners and cracked in different directions. But for a conclusion, the phone is still a practical piece of hardware and it doesn't really lose its practicality with those scratches. I've made a mend with myself not to throw my phones and If I do, I'll cover the costs - you can hold the shit on a stick for just so long until it drops. I'll better enjoy the outer dimensions and the visual aesthetics as long, rather than cover it with something

This is great, all phone repair shops should invest in one of these, faaaar cheaper than replacing screens, and easier. Good engineers bring awesomes working tools for the professionals of phone repairs. I guess, if prices of a such a task is reasonnable, it could influence people in a more durable way, choosing to repair instead of buy new. Edit : but, i think it would be a smart thing to know what the exact thinning measuring is for every type of glass per minutes of use. Cause in the end, i guess it may damage the screen or make it tactily unresponsive (for the little i could guess of phone glass)

Not sure how you are about answering questions from your comments but here goes @JerryRigEverything, where did you get and what is the oleophobic coating you used? There is obviously a limit to how many times this can be done, what is the recommendation on a limit or number? Does this process affect the hardness rating of the glass? It makes it thinner so does that change the rating or would it take 10x to affect it or 18x?
