Excellent video, well presented and entertaining. One question however. I do wish tutorial creators would include the anchored first comment of the videos to be their product list. I mean what is hodge poge? What is Spakkle? As an English man I've no idea what you're referring to. And I'm sure a non English-speaking (not first language) would likewise be confused 😕. Otherwise keep up the good work. And thanks. Also what grout and green pain was it.

I use fabric dye for colourig sawdust for scatter material. I use the same dye mix to colour several batches of sawdust, each batch becoming a slightly lighter shade as the pigment is absorbed. Works out cheaper than keep buying different paint shades.

A couple technique suggestions: Put a cup hook in your drill to loop the wire on instead of trying to chuck the wires in the drill each time. At the other end, there are cheap vices around that make holding that end easier also. Harbor freight has one that goes on sale once in a while at about the $15 price point that you can clamp to the table so it stays put. I've used sisal twine to do the same kinds of builds, but I think what you are using works better. Really liked the idea of the foil as exposed trunks, I'll try that the next time I start building pines.

I'm becoming more interested in automotive dioramas so basically I'd just make the trees taller and the branch effects a bit wider for a 1/24 scale Jeep or Bronco in the hinterlands.

looks great. just 2 notes. Christmas trees are not pine trees. they are usually douglas fir. but thats just me being annoying. also though i do think your initial moss flock was perhaps too light little patches of brown is very normal. I keep moss as a plant and they do brown up.

Great vid. I am trying this for the first time now. I watched the flocking vod you mentioned and I think the only difference is you put the flock into the grounder after you painted it. That's what exposed the wood colour. You have to ground it to the final consistency then paint it and not ground it again.

Please NEVER touch Fast Dry Caulk with your fingers or get it on any of your skin! It's TOXIC. Read all labels! It is absorbed by your skin and gets into your bloodstream and it can KILL you! It has petroleum distillates which affects your nervous system and your immune system. I speak from my own pathetic experience. After a near-death experience with the stuff, I read the label. Here's hint: read the labels first and never deviate. It takes at least 2 weeks to detox, if you live long enough and even then, who knows what will happen to me in the future as a result of this. FYI.

Man I love your trees! So awesome. You're right to an extent about the farmed trees, but its not even natural for those to grow in a cone shape. Christmas tree will be spaced far away from the others and pruned to grow that way as well. They have workers go in a month or two before the trees are cut down and the trees get pretty little haircuts, haha. A tree farm abandoned and allowed to grow wild will eventually produce semi wild looking trees, but probably with more lower branches than the truly wild trees you showed growing next to the clear cut. Thicker the forest, the more bald the tree trunks. Stretching up to reach the sun. Thats why my sad little tomatoes grow way too long when I start them inside and wait to long to transplant them :,)

When I was a teenager my buddy got a 3ft model of the USS constitution you know huge wooden craft anyways there were several hundred crew men about a half inch tall that you were supposed to paint and like all the rigging you had to do there's these little blocks that go where ever ropes go on all the masts they were about an eigth of an inch long two holes and there were sheets of them in the kit anyway what I'm trying to say is that as majestic as this ship might have been if done correctly it just too complex for a couple of teenage boys if I recall it's only aquatic achievement after a month of gluing was too be set on fire with some gas that we got out of a hose at a closed gas station you know the hose is always good for a cup we then transported said ship to the arkansas river here in colo set said ship aflame with all its unpainted crew and no sails put it in the river and then blasted the crap out of it with bbguns the point of this parable is that the simplicity and realism of your forest was refreshing and although not a train guy I do make miniature scenes that hang on the wall or sit on a shelf for extra cash the trees were fing cool

A better option compared to painting over the flock might have been to use washes and thinned inks to create shifts in the flock colors. Normally that works extremely well for making things blend in there.
