NOTIFICATION: On paper, I think this might be the single most action packed Abroad in Japan episode ever made. We certainly ended Journey Across Japan with a thud. Literally - goodbye ear. It's now healed fortunately but it took 6 long weeks of hell to get there. Still it was a blast at sea and a lot of fun watching Ryotaro and Natsuki battle it out once and for all! Funny how those things happen. Met my first Japanese buddy by randomly calling up some Japanese office in my region asking for assistance with a translation. He was super helpful and we started hanging after that. Ended up in Japan to visit the many friends I gained after meeting him.

Okinawa is amazing. I went in 2010 for a month, but I was only a teenager at the time. I can't wait to come back as an adult someday 😄

I often walk the pristine beaches of Okinawa. Granted that I am playing as Kazuma Kiryu at the time though.

After a year and a half of saving up for when finally japan opens up, finally bought the plane tickets yesterday for a month of vacation and my very own private journey across japan from hokkaido to yakushima and I just want to express a one huge thank you for the year and half of inspiration and motivation that you've given me.

Even though I read this before watching this scene, I started to laugh so hard after Natsukis line that I felt choking... I enjoyed it a lot! this is indeed paradise where you guys have been. I went parasailing by myself when I weighed 58kg. The wind kept me in the sky. The boat came back into shore where i was told to put all my weight on the left side. As I slowly descended I lost the wind behind a building and fell straight down to earth about 2 stories, smashing the air from my lungs. Winding me in the process. Fantastic experience 10/10 would get winded again.

I love that for all Chris's persona of complaining and being angry, when things actually go wrong you can tell he remains relatively calm and even humored throughout

I had a manager once who came in every day yelling, swearing and throwing pots and pans around. And that's how you knew everything was fine. Because if someone actually did screw up, he was calm, cool-headed and soft-spoken. I actually really liked that management style!

Going in knowing what happened, and that this section was probably going to be it, made Joey's question, "is that the show where people got injured?" quite ominously prophetic.

Okinawa does have some nice beaches. I really enjoyed all of my airborne jumps while stationed there. Drop zone above Torii station gave great views of Torii beach (trucked in white sand) Yomitan Castle and area.

This is some serious commitment here Even though he got injured (and surely it was more painful than he showed) he gave his all to his project. Congrats Chris, this turned out amazing.

I’ve had a perforated eardrum and they suck! It’s not necessarily the pain you expect but it feels uncomfortable and you have to avoid getting it wet which is a pain too. Mine healed up but now I have hearing problems in that one so hopefully Chris’ healed better than mine did.

The man is like a machine. He can´t be stopped 😊

I don't know what it's like nowadays, but in the mid 2000's, Osaka was AMAZING. The food in the seemingly lowest-end cheap hole-in-the-wall type food places was such high quality! I love Osaka.

For anyone who has that water/ear issue, swim ear is a alcohol drop you can put in your ear and it evaporates the water out, it's helped me so many times. Other countries might have different versions of this, but if you sea swim it's an absolute must have life saver.

If you ever get the chance to go back to Okinawa, I'd love to see you visit some famous places, like Shureimon Castle and it's famous Shuri Gate (as featured on the ¥2000 bill, even in the watermark, according to my favorite manga/anime, Azumanga Daioh), Cape Manzamo, and Iriomote Island, famous for the critically endangered species, the Iriomote Mountain Cat (known as the Yamapikaryaa or Yamamayaa in the local dialect; it's said that there's no more than 100 specimens left in existence). It doesn't have to be Journey Across Japan, but there is much more to Okinawa than the little taste we got with this season, that it leaves me wanting to see more of your adventures and experiences in Okinawa Prefecture.

Sweet! I was just there early last month. Glad the place is getting some love. If you visit again, I highly recommend doing one of the night sky tours (especially the one with the music) and Taketomi island.
