Honestly, this means a lot more than apparent on surface level. Not only does it display that young voters face issues usually inflicted by older generation that politicians are ignorant to, but that if enough people are behind a common cause they can defeat "major parties". One of the biggest issues of political landscapes during our time is people believe that voting for a independent or minor party is a waste of a vote and vote for someone who doesn't truly represent their views just does more than some other major party. I think this proved quite well that independent can accomplish great things if enough people are behind it.
