My mom did something similar with the money I got both from inheritance (literally in my grandparents will and she tried to give me only half) and also from when I did modeling as a kid. It's not an okay thing to do and I've genuinely disowned her and cut her out of my life after realizing that her behavior was just one of many not okay things from my childhood. Amazing comedy skit and genuinely brilliant, but I can't help but feel really bitter for everyone in here who had a parent steal their money and also gaslight them. It's abusive.

How I try to avoid my parents “put money into the bank”: 1.Do not tell them how much you get, and do not tell them how much each relative gave you (because they will try to pay the same amount back) 2.Buy everything (better to buy things that looks like related to study so they cannot question you) When you ask them to give all the pocket money, they will say “it is so hard to raise you up” and will never give it to you.😂

I used to teach Chinese children online and they’d always be excited about getting red envelopes on Chinese New Year, but almost every time I asked them what they bought with the money they got they said they gave it to their parents.
