I love this show! Cobra Kai is the best example of how to handle a franchise in the right way. They expanded the story a lot, they gave importance in the right amounts to every character, old and new. The show is not focused in only one character, there are many important characters. This show is not only great, but it also gave more replay value to (and even enhanced) the classic films. It's the complete opposite of what Disney did to SW with the sequel trilogy.

The show is the greatest thing ever put on streaming or otherwise. It makes us 40 something and older ex martial artists feel cool again. I love mma but the local martial arts dojo rivalries that spanned from the 50s into the 90s were very real and awesome. They were the most spectacular movie theater parking lot fights you`d ever see in your life. Were we idiots? Yep. Were we fighting pointlessly ? Yep. Were our teachers sometimes the instigators? Yep. But, was it it fun and sometimes ended with respect? Hell yes it was and it did. We had local tournements and everything , but we never would "save it for the tounement". Our rules in the streets were no weapons, no attacking a guy when he`s with his girlfriend or family , no sucker punching. Breaking those rules meant all your respect was lost for good and even your own dojo would run you off. Now when mma came along we all quickly realised we were under evolved and we stopped all our nonsense and started doing mma together , but ill never forget the local small town dojo wars where nobody ever got seriously hurt, everyone knew their place in the pecking order and we all respected eachother on some level. Oddly though, none of our teachers ever fought eachother , and even though they sometimes instigated fights they were always very nice to eachother in person hahaha. Sorry for my long stupid comment. This show just takes me back to a simpler time where the world made sense, most fights were settled with fists, nobody got shot, we were all allowed to think we were badasses and we didnt really care who won. It was ok to say hello to a stranger, people didnt pressure eachother to be whatever the internet says they should be, it wasnt cool to be jaded and cynical, nobody was in a hurry, most people got along regardless of color, and there was still magic in the world. Someone tell me how that wasnt a better world.

Ralph Macchio being such a skinny wimp who obviously put very little into practicing martial arts always bugged me, too. It really took me out of the first movie. The skinny part is fine, especially him being so young, but you at least have to learn how to move. Still, I was surprised that to this day, a guy co-starring in a martial arts series would show up with little grandma shoulders.

Just finished season 3 and I am still impressed with how great this sequel show is! I nearly fell out of my chair at 6:31!

William's acting style is amazing... He literally seems like your everyday guy that is not an actor, but just does stuff, and the camera follows him around. It's so real it both feels like it doesn't belong, but fits perfectly at the same time.

Honestly the whole calling the police thing felt sensible then Amanda tried it and it didn’t work and I figured “oh I guess kreese has them tied on all the cylinders” but then the house fight happened at the end of season 3 and the big vandalism of miyagi-do and I’m like “yeah there should be imprisonments on several levels.”

Not to mention the school fight was just ridiculous and went on way too long. No way would that have been able to happen.

One thing I like about this show is that even though it’s a sequel to The Karate Kid movies you don’t have to have watched the movies to understand what’s happening because they do a good job at explaining it. Some of the stuff that happens might more exiting if you’ve watched the movies but the show works well on its own.

I do agree that they were rushed, but he still had little fleeting moments of second guessing himself. Last episode was him contemplating everything he thought about the last couple of episodes and deciding no, Cobra Kai wasn't worth it.

Kreese is the real villain when you combine all three films and the series, a grown man obsessed with getting revenge on a teenaged boy and his teacher, all because the boy won a karate tournament.

Yes thank you!!! For a show that preaches against bullying there is ALOT of bullying!!! It’s quite disturbing, although I know they used it in inverted way to show everyone’s failures and need to rise up and forgive (which is good message) but still.

I've been watching Cobra Kai and at some point I was just like "why have the cops not been called?!" I really feel like the senses of either dojo would be strung up on charges for like violence or inciting violence. Someone would tell him you can't teach anybody anymore cuz look at what all these kids are doing? Not just the school telling them they can't do that but the law.

This was a great example of reviving a great series. Getting the original actors and paying respect to the original characters with a good plot line.
