which is literally the opposite effect of cancel culture, where someone with bad morals is shunned out of society so their hate can fester. i always love the story of the black man who intentionally made strides to befriend klan members, and personally converted dozens of them away from that ideology just by being friends. if everyone thought like him, groups like that would be eradicated. modern day people would just attack those guys which would only push them farther into their group, only growing its influence.

I get that and that not everyone thinks for themselves, but it's still so frustrating that people have to be taught not to be morons. I know that sounds bad. But I was questioning a lot of the things my elders would say and do since I was a kid and that's why I ended up so different. I don't know how people can't be critical and logical in their thinking. I guess that's why I can't help but see it as an excuse.

Mine adopted me, my real parents were shit and my granma and grampa didn't want me as a baby to die due to dr*g exposure. I'm one of the lucky ones and I can openly admit that. I'm just using that as an example how grandparents are always amazing. I'm 24 and still going strong thanks to them, who I call my real parents and I thank them daily for raising me right. They've kept me since I was a lil baby. But they were never racist, I'm mixed race myself and they thought that was pretty cool, cause they got to learn more about my background. My boyfriend's mother was extremely rascist.. she wouldn't have liked me at all 😅😅 that's a personal problem of her's. Anyone who is racist to anyone is obviously miserable themselves and strive to bring anyone down with them.

I'm half black (visible minority), and my BFF is white. My dad is white, and my mom came with a black daughter when she met my dad. His family took my older half-sister in with no quelms. I was fortunate to have the accepting family, and my Grandma made your difference feel beautiful. She said she only wanted two things in life. To see on top of the fridge (she was 5'2") and my curls (I used to put my hair over her head and she'd take pictures) like she had my hair.

Sometimes we just have to give people a chance to correct and check themselves. Offer to educate or show compassion. Give chances. If people constantly choose to do things wrong, yes they deserve whatever karma or consequences that are coming to them. But if you see people trying to change and do better, then we should support them not cancel or obliterate them.

The same thing happened in my family. One of my loved ones had a racist Grandfather by marriage. All of his step daughters. Had kids by black men. The grand children opened up his heart. He was so kind to us the Christmas b4 he passed away. It took those beautiful mixed kids to break down those walls. He was taught hate as a child.

which is literally the opposite effect of cancel culture, where someone with bad morals is shunned out of society so their hate can fester. i always love the story of the black man who intentionally made strides to befriend klan members, and personally converted dozens of them away from that ideology just by being friends. if everyone thought like him, groups like that would be eradicated. modern day people would just attack those guys which would only push them farther into their group, only growing its influence.
Vor 3 MonateJordan Ferguson +71
I get that and that not everyone thinks for themselves, but it's still so frustrating that people have to be taught not to be morons. I know that sounds bad. But I was questioning a lot of the things my elders would say and do since I was a kid and that's why I ended up so different. I don't know how people can't be critical and logical in their thinking. I guess that's why I can't help but see it as an excuse.

Kids are the "best part" of who we are as people he is a reflection of his grandpa he wasn't really a quote unquote racist he just didn't really know any black people, but his grandchild took care of that you're never too old to learn from the babies!

The same thing kinda happened with me. My first white friend had my family shook. "Why you always playing with that lil white girl?" I was with her every chance I got because she was fun and our weirds matched. When she started sleeping over every other weekend I noticed my family wasn't as tense around her anymore. After they got used to seeing her around they included her. They would tell me "go get your friend so we can play hide and seek on teams" 20 years later, we're still like sisters.

great example of how racism goes both ways but it’s most often a simple misunderstanding of the other race. At the end of the day we’re all people and we all have the same minds regardless of color

This is why its important to let people grow from their mistakes.
Vor 3 MonateLuna +21
better than cancelling and shunning them to extreme levels. stuff like that only makes it worse.
Vor 3 MonatePaypalMyMoney DFS +6
@Luna Exactly!!
Vor 3 MonateMLC +3
@Luna completely depends. Racism was learned before, nobody is raised that way anymore the people who are cancelled nowadays are usually entirely too grown to know racism is wrong. It's deserved imo
Vor 3 MonateSupernaturalLove100 +4
@MLCPeople are absolutely taught to be racist, lol. Parents that say racist shxt, indoctrinate their children w prejudice etc in areas shielded away from diversity. it just ain’t the 40s anymore 🤷🏾♀️ Social media definitely makes it that folks should know better

Grandchildren have a way of changing people, that no one else can, my grandpa smoked for over 40 years, no one could get him to stop, until I was 3 and told him I didn’t like it when he was stinky, he stopped immediately after, miss him everyday. Love you grandpa❤
Vor 3 MonateMehki +25
I smoked. Meet hubby and he told me that night he didn't. Stopped that night, because I didn't want to be stinky. All previous bf smoked and we cancelled each other out.

I found out my grandma was racist before I was born. I'm mixed and once I was born they said she stopped. I didn't even know until I was an adult about it. She never said anything bad about black people to me growing up.
