Thanks a bunch Leland. You amaze us with new stories and adventures. I hope to see more studio tours in the near future.

What a privilege - a tour around the old A&M studios (so much history), catch Gregg Bissonette getting ready for the session. Oh yes, and our guide for the tour was Mr Leland Sklar! Unbelievable! Thank you.
Vor MonatDavid Nelson
Very cool. Always great to see the behind scenes action!!! Thanks Lee.....
Vor MonatRobert Dixon
Thanks for this! Great memories...I worked there in the 70s, as a tech under Tom May. To this day, I think I could still set the bias on a Scully tape machine without the book...

Thanks Lee, amazing tour round. Love it. A place fit for your inspection and for you to work. The drum sound is amazing even over the phone! Hi to all the chaps in the studio.

Last time I was there it was 1989. Wow thats a long time. Lovely memories.

I was fortunate enough to spend a day there around 2005. First thing I saw on the way in was a dinosaur hiding in the bushes and immediately loved the place. I took a picture of the hallway outside studio d lined with about a dozen tape machines and it hung in my bedroom for years. Such a great place. Thanks for sharing and bringing back some good memories.

Thanks so much for sharing this, Leland! Takes me back. I parked in that back parking lot, more than a few times, back in the 80's. I was an engineer at a private studio for Michael Hanna back then, near Willoughby and Labrea. And, my buddy, who has since passed on, was an engineer at A&M (Scott Symington). So glad to see this history still endures the test of time. And, the recordings that came out of this beautiful studio! Fantastic. Glad to see you're still crankin' out the tunes, too!
Vor MonatGRTMXR
Leland, Thank You so much for the tour. A&M was my home for over 10 years. Sadly I haven't been through those doors in over 20 years. Oh how I miss it. Looks like the old girl is in great shape. I worked several times with Bill and also Greg a few times. Unfortunately never had the pleasure of working with you. Thanks again for the tour and all the wonderful bass tracks over the years. Cheers Mike

Priceless! - Brings back SO many memories; I spent several years in the late 80s running around this studio. Now I can show my kids!! - The footage is absolutely perfect, thanks!

What a treat to have a look-see inside one of these places! Thanks so much for this and as a nurse, I find it touching that you regularly acknowledge the sacrifice and commitment that is made in our industry this last year. We appreciate seeing folk's wearing their masks 👍So excited that the entire Immediate Family is getting vaccinated! See you guys soon!

I walked passed this place back in 1985 when I lived in Hollywood. All I saw was the gate but I remember wondering what was behind the gate. Now I know. Thank you 🙏

All those tape machines lined up! I can't stop drooling! Eight A80, three A820 and 8 Ampex. I don't feel too bad in having only five tape machines at home.
Vor MonatArnold Winer
Back in the 60's and 70's, I would make it a point, if I was cruising Hollywood, to drive by that A & M sign on La Brea. When I saw that sign slowly turning I thought to myself, how cool would it be to work there. Thank you Leland for the tour of that historic site.
Vor MonatKarl B
Fascinating Lee, all those tape machines lining the corridor. Imagining all the stuff that's been recorded on them and the stories they could tell from over the years! Mind-blowing!

Fascinating look behind the scenes - Thank you Lee. Can anyone enlighten me as to why so many pro studios ( and I've been in a few but never thought to ask), have strings of fairy lights/Christmas lights festooned around the place? There has to be some kind of reason behind this fact. Anyone?

Vor MonatRock and Roll Woman
Wow, that was great. Loved all those tape machines lined up in the hall, and the fish lounge, and all that rock and roll heritage. And we got to meet Gregg Bissonette! Saw him with Ringo's All-Starr Band (with Steve Lukather and Gregg Rolie) at the Greek before the world turned upside down. I so miss live music, from McCabe's to the Hollywood Bowl and everything in between. Soon... Love the ping pong table too. There's one in the middle of the office at my campaign consultants. They win more campaigns than ping pong tournaments, but it's great way to blow off some steam. Nobody gets hurt playing ping pong.

I did demos there for an album we made in 1990 Lee. In the little studio across the hall by the table with the Chaplain book. Met my best friend and bass player there. Haven't seen it since. There used to be a giant wooden eagle hanging in the room you guys are in. I didn't see it in the vid. What a treat..Thank you VERY MUCH Lee.

Thank you Leland. I loved your videos on Jeff P!!! I have recently been checking out Jay Graydon as he is very interesting guy. I found out about him being a big Steve L (Luke) fan. I was wondering if you could do a video of your time spent with Jay as I have seen you have did some work on his live stuff in Japan maybe other places. Thank you again!!! Oh and by watching everything I could find on Jeff P I asked myself how could just everyone love this guy, then I watched some of the home video of his drumming at his Dad's school and understand why!! What a amazing talent and God send.

coincidence. i just came from visiting the charlie chaplin museum near vevey (switzerland) when i saw you playing for the first time together with judith, russ, gabriella and pedro in the mahogany hall, bern. so whenever you are near the lake of geneva, go and visit that magical place. the museum is also the former residence of chaplin and the place (and garden!) has its own kind of magic. why do i write this? because i think, you and chaplin have so much in common. the permanent humour, some cute kind of clumsiness, the geniality and most of all an unequaled modesty! or with other words: the appeal of a real star.

Thank you so much for this tour! What a piece of history most of us would not get to see. It was very cool to see all the tape machines - Greg's chart was quite an eye opener - no 8 1/2 by 11 chart there! I'd love to see what you get on some of these. Thank you so much!! Very cool!!!

When I was a music obsessed kid back in the 70's (I didn't want toys or games for my birthday, I wanted vinyl), I would always get excited when I got to see the giant billboard outside of A&M Records on the corner of Sunset & La Brea touting their latest release.

I got to say high to Greg at NAMM last year just as he was leaving a signing at the DW Drum booth. I missed getting his autograph by two people, but got to say high and that I'd see him with Victor Wooten & Steve Baily that Sunday night at the Catalina Club. I never got to go. Car problems - the front underlayment ripped out driving home; I didn't dare try to make it to the show and it was too late to arrange a rental. One of the great disappointments of the NAMM show days.
Vor MonatRik Converse
If ya gotta work someplace, might as well do it in comfort and style! Thanks for the tour, Leland! Closest I ever got was delivering Talent Agency contracts or other items to the front or meeting someone in the interior parking lot - never got further than that. Always got a good feel from this studio. I'd worked on many film lots, but the music from this place was special and they preserved the history as well as creating it in those rooms!
