@Трубник We had the crashes in F1 with 70-80 G-forces deceleration , but the car didn't brake in two and the drivers are not dead and not injured. In 2021 we had more dangerous crash in Formula 2 with Fittipaldi - 72 G but he is ok. The crashes in Indycar each year are even harder. Most trained humans can stand till 100 G without big problems. So no, he wouldn't be dead from that impact. If the car didnt brake in two it will be no fire, and all we had to remember from this crash is that "Grosjean was an idiot". That's all.

Yes. Some drivers were complaining about that safety bar or halo as they said it affect their driving vision and hard time going out/in of the cockpit. But that was before the accident. This is one scene from Drive To Survive that was in no way dramatized. I legitimately thought I watched someone die in that crash. Romain walking away from that is nothing short of a miracle and complete badassery and, no pun intended, a will to survive. Still gives me chills to this day.

Vor Monat
Frederik Usterud
Frederik Usterud

Saying that it was in no way dramatized is simply wrong. They streched it out way further than the actual "event" was, they used radio that was supposed to look like it was GRO during the crash which again is misleading since he didn't say anything on the radio. The commentary that they use (except for crofty) is as im aware, made by themselves after the race likewise with all the other commentary that they use with that "radio" voice. They also used footage of Gene from another race (which you can see from the two in frame not wearing masks), along with a few other things. I know these things seem like minor details but they all contribute to making a 27 second miracle look like a 5 minute instance of a man burning.

Vor 6 Tage
NLBastiaan
NLBastiaan

Horrible as it was for Grosjean this was also unnecessarily dramatised by Netflix. In reality the medical car parked up 9 seconds after the crash and he was out within less than 30 seconds. Here the car takes 30 seconds to arrive and they edited it to look like it took at least 1,5 minute until he was out. This event is horrible and exciting (in a negative way) enough as it is, why stretch it out?

This is a Tribute to all the work that went into designing equipment that can withstand such forces as to enable Romain Grosjean's to stay conscious and walk out of the crash alive, to the driver's safety cage, The seat belt design, or the fireproof P.S.E. , Plus Grosjean's training and survival and a lot of luck and perfect timing all coming together in harmony. It's incredibly rare and quite amazing to witness this event. When you look at the Math and all that was involved as well as the probability of all those factors falling into place to achieve the outcome that occurred even boosted by the skills of professional engineers and designers is still incredibly rare, it's thrilling and shocking, but unbelievably amazing and it's pushes the boundaries of the feeling of relief, .... just to witness.

If the energy is not breaking or deforming a car - it's breaking or deforming it's driver. Senna's car wasn't broken in half, but Senna's body was pretty broken, especially his brain, exactly because of that.

@Chris Finegan Great and true comment!! I have heard it explained like this: "It's god who allows and gives the human the ability to do these things, without him would nobody be able to do anything." LOL! In short, no matter what anyone does, is it only because of this god. :-)

Vor 25 Tage
Chris Finegan
Chris Finegan

This is absolutely an outcome that resulted from the good work of an untold number of people, both over many years and in the moment itself. Design changes, technological improvements, updated safety requirements, the training and reactions of stewards and first responders and the reaction of Grosjean himself. There’s no reason to believe that a God played any part in this. Why do people diminish human achievements by giving credit to God? If this had happened even 5 years ago, Grosjean would almost certainly have died purely because of the absence of the halo. The impact would very likely have been fatal. Was God less good a decade ago? Did he only want to carry out a miracle after the design of the car changed? We might water it down and say he was lucky, but he had an exponentially higher likelihood of being ‘lucky’ thanks to all the pieces people added to this puzzle.

Vor 25 Tage

@A i t o m a r u I sort of agree with you, but still do, I think it is dangerous to be so deep in a faith that a person genuine think it's 100% god who saved him. If he didn't managed to escape by himself there was no chance for anyone to help him in time. I think there is need for more than just few man with fire extinguishers. Something like few small and fast fire trucks

I'm not a huge Formula1 fan, but the series Drive to Survive watched great and I think is interesting for the casual viewer. The episode of Man on Fire made the biggest impression for me, and the fragment from 4:41 I watched several times. Dramatic but amazing moments! However, life writes the best scripts.

@Venti’sCameraRoll some people would rather be faster in responding than resonating. What’s the real miracle is him staying conscious from that crash. They missed the real point. When i was watching this video, i really thought he was it. I saw how helpless these poor fire fighters were in that situation. How they couldn’t retrieve him in that big fire ball. Technology, miracle and his physical and mental strength is what pulled him through that one. Thanks for your comment..

"I don't know!!!" she said with even more fear. She saw it live, and she was petrified. I remember her talking and getting concerned about it like Romain was one of our family members. We were so happy to see him getting well afterwards. DTS is great because it got her very much into F1. Now race week end at home is a big event we never miss. That is amazing, thank you Netflix.

@elisterr The hit will be worse? The highest recorded G hit...in an IndyCar....highest closed course speed record...in an IndyCar. Max Verstappen said last week he'd be too afraid to run in an IndyCar on an oval. Hamilton said the same thing. Might want to listen to tbe drivers at this point. One of the most dangerous things you can do in a race car os IndyCar on an oval. Nico Hulkenburg did an IndyCar test this week. He had heard theyre extremely difficult to drive but didn't realize they'd be THAT diffcult cuz he had that mindset like you that "its not F1 so it must be easy"....After these guys drive an IndyCar they say they never realized how easy an F1 car is to drive in comparison.

Vor 2 Monate
elisterr
elisterr

@InvisibleTeeth Then again. Every single driver would say that Karting is even more difficult and takes a lot more skill to be better than others. In F1 you have so much more speed and risk involved that when you make a mistake, the hit will be worse than ever in indy. Not to mention the challenging part of managing a high tech machine. You literally have dozens and dozens of buttons and settings on your wheel that you have to control mid race - ofter even mid-lap, each lap, to have the best result - and yet, the car doest drive for you. It is only so well planted on the road because of its aerodynamics, not specific electronical gadgets. --- also the reason why nobody comes from Indy and succeeds in F1. Because its just so challenging and you are not up for it. Just like Mazepin is not up for it. Ever. But that doesn't change the fact that you can be an IndyCar fan. you should be! Racing is awesome. For me, its WRC and F1 and nothing else comes close to it. Maybe next to it is the Paris-Dakar Rally that is literally a suicidal event every year.
