What an amazing and meaningful career. When I was a child I wanted to study elephant or gorillas and live with them. My life took a different route but if I could have a redo to study elephants I would. For now I will continue to support conservation efforts and learn about them through literature and videos.

Anytime you enter wildlife habitat, You're on their turf. No, they don't run us because we have dominion over them. Sadly though, we've taken it too far When we've taken too much territory and ran wildlife completely from their homes. We've gone too far and have abused our God-given Dominion over the animals. Dominion doesn't mean get greedy. I where God-given Dominion is meant to be used reasonably, not abused

This is an amazing compilation of wildlife nature stories by 60 Minutes. Saved in my Favorites folder playlist.✔ Thanks to the zoologists, naturalists, veterianarians, biologists, researchers, park rangers, zoo keepers and all the scientists and animal lovers involved in the study, preservation, care and reintroduction of such fragile animal species. Over the centuries, humanity worldwide have encroached so intensively and harmfuly into what once was their pristine animal kingdom and ecosystems, bringing detrimental effects in their reproductive, roaming and hunting patterns and processes, resulting into the extinction of so many now lost species, leaving other surviving but to the brink of extinction too. And because of all abovementioned and as the uppermost sentinent and cognitive specie on the planet, it becomes our responsibility to nurture them and guarantee their longevity as animal species for generations to come 🐒 🐺🐹🐯🐼🐘🐋🐝🐨

For one's own safety in the woods of Montana, it is very important to never surprise bears and to carry some form of defense in case of an attack. For instance, wearing bells (to avoid surprising a bear) and carrying bear-strength pepper spray are both suggested. Also, knowing the differences between the Grizzly and the more common Black Bear is important. Analyzing bear scat can help distinguish between these two species. The Black Bear's scat is usually smaller and contains the remnants of fur (squirrel, etc.) and berries. However, Grizzly Bear scat is much larger, clumpier, and often contains bells and smells like pepper.
Vor MonatJB6789
@Shandele Broyles Jokes aside, I do hope you know that black bears can be brown in color.

Have you ever considered talking to your elected officials about the possibility of building biking and walking enclosures so people can travel safely through the woods? Those enclosures are just an enclosed path with windows. If built right, they can accommodate those on bikes or on foot. One side can be for hikers, the If the other side can be for bikers There may need to be some reasonable accommodation in the woods for this to happen. Inside those enclosures can also be benches off to the side. Again, rhe woods would have to be shaped in such a way to allow this kind of structure just like some places allow for you to walk up under a uniquely designed aquarium, or actually through it If it's made into somewhat of a tunnel . Imagine some of those places I'm talking about . You should be able to walk right through areas where the bears are without them being able to touch you. Structures would have to be built a safe distance back away from Bear Habitats while at the same time you can still see them from a safe distance . Imagine some of the places where you can walk through a tunnel aquarium area and see everything from all sides, even underneath that tank. Now you get the idea of what I'm trying to point out Because this would inspire something to be built in the woods for those Because this would inspire something to be built in the woods for those hikers and bikers to safely pass through. Structures can even be built to accommodate small picnic areas If you pack a cooler. If the structures built just right with the windows I suggested, no bear will be able to get in. Such a structure would need a locking door, so There may need to be someone overseeing The Doors of these passage structures. Building these type of structures would require careful planning, structure and strategy. Bear-proof structures can be as simple or elaborate as you want without leaving much of a footprint. Having safe structures through the woods means lower risk of death and injury. We can see the wildlife without paying zoos and We can see the wildlife without paying zoos and sanctuaries we don't need. If you ever wondered why some of the wildlife in those facilities have certain behavioral problems, it's because they don't belong in captivity. To those of you who wondered about the owl that got away, he proved he could survive in the wild. "Owl survive in the wild!" 😊

After the incident that was the Schiaparelli runway this week past, it’s awesome to see these conservation stories and documentaries take centre stage and light up the algorithm. I had my weekend class sit in today (the weather is absolute chaos in NZ at the moment) and I was surprised that one of my students wanted to cast this up on the tv for everybody to watch as we drew big cats. I try to take every opportunity to educate them but not force it, so it’s rewarding that they’ve made these choices on their own and taken an interest in wildlife conservation. It was very encouraging to see all the positive attitudes (for the most part) expressed from the citizens of these places understanding there is a balance sometimes good, sometimes bad but overall how imperative animals are to the ecosystem and even our own survival. Some don’t understand this, and people are afraid of what they don’t understand which in this case and as seen in the documentary results in mass killings of keystone species. This is partly why I’ve made the choice to eventually study lions throughout Tanzania, Zambia and Botswana, there is still so much to learn and people to educate.

@Randi Bagley-Goodwin No, not real furs and skins, though Ami Zarug (The designer of the animal pieces) does have real furs and skeletons he’s acquired in order to better replicate true detail. It was more so the image his heads on garments portrayed and perpetuated. On their own his works are stunning but they served no genuine purpose on the runway other than for show. There was no effort or mention toward conservation or the rapid decline that apex predators like lion and snow leopard are facing in the wild.

@jane coe You've got a point but they would argue "They were not here when I moved in, they were planted here by the State in a Grizzly program" Which rings true in many areas because the grizzly was almost extinct in the 1970's when Folks started discovering Montana. Some bears were airlifted into Montana from canada.
Vor 21 TagJoseph Shields
The folks they interviewed are not representative of all Montanians, There are ranchers and hunters who are lobbying for Grizzly hunts and a few who exaggerate the Grizzly danger and swear their numbers are tenfold and are killing everything in sight and if you don't agree with them you are a "tree hugger" or "Gar dang environmentalist" . factcheck There are no 1000-pound grizzlies in Montana, in the lower 48 or even Canada. You have to go to Kodiak Island or along the Alaska Peninsula like in Katmai National Park but in those cases, they usually aren't referred to as Grizzlies (since the term "grizzly" refers to inland Brown bears) but just brown bears. Basically, anything over 550 pounds would be considered to be a big bear in Montana (maybe even lower like 500 pounds)

Behaviors displayed by wild mammals, especially predators, and even herding animals of the fields are definitely NOT like that of human beings. They behave like animals, as they should. People who display behaviors similar to any animal clearly have behavioral health problems due to some kind of mental health issue or a major neurological injury. As humans, we are the natural caretakers of all the creatures and all of creation on the Earth. This is the way God made the world to be. Natural, healthy, non-mutated animals understand that perfectly, as they understand how God made this world. The only mutants that shouldn't have even existed in the first place are diseased, violent for nothing, majorly brain damaged, unnatural, and unessential, and unnecessary vermin mutts.

Yes grizzly bears are apex predators, everyone knows that, so we should respect their environments & habitats and steer clear of them and use non-lethal defensive methods in emergency situations. The best thing to do is to do everything you can to never find yourself in that situation. Funny thing to mention, grizzly bears are largely vegetarian but of course they will hunt fish & mammals.

It sounds magical and wonderful but...I would lose my mind if they were poached. So much so that it would change me in the worst way. God Bless you lady.

Wolves are a keystone species. So it’s great that they went in and helped the ecosystem at Yellowstone.

There's ghost ridin' prairies whistlin' through the air There's dreams on main street broken dead and bare And a river and a mountain grow older with the sky Lookin' for some friends like those from days gone by While the cowboys and the Indians rode across the range The poor Buffalo die for silver change While the renegades and the wranglers Drank up half town damn if some pilgrims Didn't tear the Wild West down Circlin' like a vulturea all they'd pick the land to bits Tearin' out its heart forcin' it to quit Like an old ancient rustler the west just died away Strangled by progress that greedy beast a prey While the renegades and the wranglers Drank up half the town damn if some pilgrims Didn't tear the Wild West down

They are right about trying to keep the bears away from people. Some people even feed some bears. That is a wrong thing to do. It's very bad to teach bears to get food from humans. It always ends bad for the bears. I love bears especially cubs. It said when they have to be put down. The wolves are just amazing. I'm glad they brought them back to Yellowstone. But winter is the only time the bear don't steal their prey. Beautiful animals. Thank you for this. It was great.

Bless all the Chinese who are saving the pandas…and I bet that is every Chinese child and adult. For your dedication I have been privileged to get to see your pandas on YouTube. Thank you.

Wow Taunton Massachusetts I am a mass native and I lived in Taunton for years never thought watching a 60 min Australia I would see someone from my area doing something so wonderful

A 5yr old male grizzly under 400 lbs is a very telling affect of human & livestock populations disabling territorial habitat. For every new homestead, the accelerated evolution to smaller bears is sad. In Whistler & Pemberton B.C. the bears got smaller & smaller as the skiing got bigger & better
Vor MonatDana Sarokon
i love ALL these animals but, when i see how the Chinese are all excited and even the younger kids are even sooo excited about it. I just think thats awesome and i wish that i could make that happen all over the world , my dream to help all animals around the world

The Wolves part was great! Rancher said, "There's something romantic about a wolf, right? Unless you've seen it chewing on a live cow." 😀

The problem with the wolf reintroduction was they brought in Grey wolves instead of the Timberwolves that were actually native. The Grey's are bigger and more aggressive. They are terrorizing the moose, elk, and deer populations. But they are definitely a beautiful animal.
Vor MonatBarry Obama
There was an over population of Elk before the wolves

Well said, Jerry. I like the way you mentioned the Grey/Timberwolf difference, a fact that was left out of this "documentary".

❤ this. And, even as a vegan and animal lover, I respect the hunter shown in the wolf section of this video. And the ranchers. They need to protect their way of life as well. Nature is about balance. And balance was destroyed a hundred or so years ago with the killing off of wolves.
