Lockstin & Gnoggin
Hey! hope you watched this first: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bvaLHbLTWuI It 's always WAY cool to work with @TerminalMontage and you should watch everything he and his team do. :)
1:09 okay whoa can u explain, or are you just kidding?
hey man whats the song that plays at the ore beetle explanation @ 12:55 please and thank you if you can find it
Does anyone have the source for the YOU FOOL line?
"Snorlax needs to try to eat her out" - yeah he said that
Hey so why was the water column so weak it made out of water so the only way to stop it is to block the source right? Or is it made out of ice?
Like all the others, this was REALLY fun to work on! :D
You guys do terrific work!
OMG ITS TERMINALMONTAGE IM YOUR BIGGEST FAN
How many are you when make anumeyshun
And even Maga pokemon battle royale
hats off to you guys. next you should do a starter battle royale, icluding forms and the lets go two.
I love that Hatterene just sits there having a panic attack and then just unleashes divine punishment on everything around her. I've loved Hatterene and have kept her on my team since I caught my first Hatenna early on in sword. Honestly, if it weren't for the fact that she moves slower than dirt, they would be terrifying.
It’s me: the Pokémon
That's why I want a rainbow holo of her some day. Beautifully wicked✨
What was the first background song at her part?
But at the same time, that also makes them super threatening with trick room teams.
3:55 “She is cake. Snorlax NEEDS to try to eat her out… of existence” That was pretty dang fun
I spat out my soup when I heard that line
Fun fuct: all the screens move in doubles reduce damage by 33%, the damage gets cut in half only in single battles, but it's still very useful
Not Aurora Veil, it strangely has no reduction in doubles for some reason
That’s the most useful thing I’ve learned about since multiplication
Some interesting details about the gmax moves is that gmax eevee can make everyone from the opposite sex fell in love and gmax pikachu can paralyze even ground types with gmax volt crash. I know that they technically don´t take into consideration movesets for these battles and focus on pokedex entries but the effect of some more of the gmax moves should've been portrayed for the battle royale. Even if they did show some of them. It would've been cool to see the gmax moves at least a bit more. Well, it was cool to see that even like that they still were able to show gmax meowth and gmax urshifu signature moves. Also rillaboom fuses with its drum set when it uses gigantamax.
@Athena Not really. The gmax move only works on pokemon of the opposite gender. But it's still a pretty powerful move for a battle royale in my opinion.
Eevee can make Pokemon bisexual
@Giboit eh well they were going on for more poke de X entry based ones or what they've seen from the anime that they can do
Something that would likely change... The literal finals is that lapris doesn't ever get Arora Veil...
Not gonna lie, "What killed the dinosaurs? THE ICE AGE" Before dropping a planets worth of ice on someone was amazing. Well done
Gave us an Earth flavored snow cone.
@Kagura🔞👇 *HEY WTF*
Thats my favorite part
the "You Fool!" line is what I would yell when I used Urshifu against Dynamax Lapras, so I'm pretty pleased that others feel the same
I honestly thought there were hidden references behind Tyranitar, Dragonite, and Golurk not getting Gigantamaxes besides just "They should've gotten one" and I thought it was a reference to the unaired Pokemon episode with a Giant Dragonite (Aka Dragonite not getting an official Gigantamax), a reference to the gen 8 Pokemon anime where Goh catches a very large special Golurk (But it's still not big enough to be Gigantamax) and the Tyranitar was either just a simple reference to Godzilla or a reference to the large Black Tyranitar in the manga which was super powerful (And probably also a reference to Godzilla anyway) or I could be wrong and they're all just Pokemon that didn't get Gigantamax forms even though they would be cool
For those wondering, in the official battles also called VGC, the best Gigantamax Pokémon right now are Coalossal and Venusaur with Charizard, Rillaboom and Blastoise following close. Both Urshifu are very good too, they just tend not to Gigantamax that often. Many people tend to agree that, as the metagame develops into double restricted Pokémon allowed (you can use 2 of the hardest hitting Legendaries per team), Venusaur is probably the all-around best Gigantamax Pokémon there is.
I dont know if anybody mentioned it already but as you know Alcremie evolves when holding a certain item and spinning in place thats why it came out of a curve Ball. I just found that little detail neat
Imagine this entire match happening in 3 turns before Dynamax runs out

@Rafael dos Santos Costa true
18:08 I think Lapras dont die because it have water asorb (Heal 1/4 HP when hitted by a water type move) and urshifu use surging strike (A water type move) so Lapras heal instead of die.
@Father Alexander Anderson Absorption abilities still activates when triggered when you are Dynamaxed/Gigantamaxed or against one of those.
Absorption abilities are nullified with Max Moves, tho. I remember using a Jellicent with Water Absorb in a Ghost monotype run once, and it still got hit by a Max Geyser
Something that wasn't mentioned, but could actually be significant with sandaconda is that it gets sand veil. Sand veil increases its evasion in a sandstorm, and given the proper item, and setting up with minimize, it becomes unhittable.
@Mµvh 773 Because they are kind of useless in Doubles, *specially* now with the always-hit Dynamax moves.
@Bonza The Bear * in Smogon rules only.
@wooy yes, however dig will help it evade attacks.
max moves always hit no matter evesion
and that is why evasion moves are banned in competitive
I always think the endings of these royales are interesting and take a lot of creative thinking with wondering who would win. I don't think I've ever really seen the final combatants or events of the last minute or 2 coming.
Question, If Eternatus was allowed in, how would it be? and if the Urshifus, being fellow diciples (of sorts) joined hands until the end, how would that have changed things?
I find it so funny and sad that Garbodor realized that it had nobody who loves it and committed not live via Gengar. We need justice for our stinky boy :(
oh i use this thing a fair bit, i dont usually use defensive pokemon but this guy is an exception, it can also be nasty physically attacking, i do enjoy the bulk if i want to stall for a turn or two.
One man's trash is another man's treasure.
Ah, you saw his Unova journey too, didn’t you?
@Anthony Rios figured its a censor like a trigger warning of sorts
We need justice for Gengar, got killed by an attack it’s immune to
These battle royale videos are so fun, i hope next gen pokémon also has a gimmick so we can get more of them.
This was a really good video! One thing I want to say is that RS Urshifu is MUCH better in the TCG than Lapras. It has been meta relevant for most of its time in the TCG and has much more usefulness while Lapras has always incredibly mediocre and lacks the support of rapid strike cards unlike Urshifu. SS Urshifu also sees a lot of competitive play.
Orbeetles power is overwhelming so I see no reason that it can’t mind control every other non-dark g-max Pokémon since there is no limit to its power.
I was kind of expecting the pollen to combust into a massive fireball because of charizard.
to be fair, saying "what killed the dinosaurs? the ice age" is much cooler (pun intended) than saying they got crushed by a giant space rock, got carbon monoxide poisoning or starved
@My life is Amazing what
Idk man, going out via asteroid seems pretty badass
Which sounds cooler: Prolonged very cold weather made them starve to death or A giant massive meteor wiped them all out on impact ? Yeah as you can see, wording will already influence your perception of what you just read, so nicely done there in your comment smh But honestly, without semantics or any bs: Ice age or Meteor? I'm siding for the meteor 100% :D
"Snorlax tries to eat her out" ... "of existence"
You always do such great writing for these. Seeing the first one on TerminalMontage was the thing that got me into your channel in the first place. I sure love to see the crazy lore/Pokedex analyses
The amount of hard work and research that you and Terminal have put into this series is simply incredible.
Love the breakdown video and animation combination. Always an entertaining watch. Thank you for the great content!! . . I know it can get too convoluted taking abilities into consideration, but it would have been really exciting to see Coalossal’s “Steam Engine” taken into account when hit by Drednaw’s water move. An exciting display of speed rather would have been a little more fun than 4x move = OHKO
Melmetal’s defeat really felt like “ maybe if we make it a reference nobody’ll notice it was too easy”
@Lapisberrii I think you mean bases
I didn’t even notice he was gone :/
Maybe. Lots of conventional acids are actually partially metallic Apple Acid, on the other hand…
I loved both the animation and How it was explained! I wonder if they will do another collab on a Regional form battle royale after Pokemon Arceus is released.
would not the pollen in the air make some kind of explosion when any firetype move has been used around it? just a question
I absolutely love these analysis breakdown videos. This series has been a blast to watch
Hey man, dynamax is allowed in some official formats (some seasons the dynamax was even not allowed) but yeah, Lapras at some point was one of the most common gigantamax used
I love the difference between Singles, Doubles and All v. All. In singles Lapras and Urshifu-R aren't the best by a good margin compared to other options, but in a format with more pokemon they have the ability to synergize with others and drastically get better.
Out of all of the little details, my favorite was when Drednaw took down Blastoise like a dreadnought, personally.
Love both the vids! Really good job! But if I remember right, Lapras’ veil is only 30% instead of 50. Just a bit of info!
Snorlax trying to eat out alcremie is not something i expected to hear today
I had to do a double take on that one lol
I want to see the 3% situation where snorlax wins by doing nothing
Another great video! You never fail to entertain us. Amazing channel and keep up the good work!
I hope y’all find another way to make a new battle royale they are my favorite combo to watch the animation then the explanation it’s so good
I really enjoy these videos a ton and did anybody else catch him calling Drednaw Coalossal at 9:00?
#1 and #2 on trending, congratulations to you both!
I would like to say that these collab videos is absolutely amazing the research and the animation and funny jokes and references are just dam on point Just a quick question by that logic that GMAX orbeatle could that also apply to GMAX Gengar? 12:54 to 13:10
Great job on this! Maybe you could do a starter battle royal, or a regional variant? Keep up the good work!
6:54 Not only that, they were also impenetrable to cannons. These were used when wooden boats were the most common warship.
What makes urshifu a legendary Pokémon isn’t is inherent status, it’s the fact it made itself a legend through rigorous training and adopting 1 of the 2 styles single strike or rapid strike
@Alexandria Smothitel Lore-wise Urshifu is Legendary because it's called the "Secret Armor of the Dojo", and cuz his Gmax forms look like huge god-like eastern guardians. The fact that Rapid-Strike (and by extension Single-Strike) invented a fighting style is just an extra.
@Alexandria Smothitel because why would the others do that? If you're a one-of-a-kind pokemon like urshifu, you don't have any natural predators and you don't need to worry as much. But if you're a common pokemon like machoke, then why would you enhance your already strong enough self when all you do all day is eat berries
But like, why can Urshifu do this but not other humanoid fighting types? Just doesn't make sense
So it's basically the pokemon version of goku
@Heros Diaz Both is basically the "Legends: Arceus" battle system. That poor thing had to choose one while any pokemon can do both nowdays... xD
If you're here watching This and feeling inspired then keep going grinding away! We are all in the same boat here looking for ways to help all our channels. keep up the good work and Never Give Up!!!
Actually Lapras isn't the most used Gigantimax in VGC, it's Venusaur. And the best Gigantimax Move isn't Aurora Veil, but the multiturn damage move that Venusaur, Charizard, Blastoise and Coalossal have, these four are the few non legendary, non suport type Pokemon still relevant in the vgc 2022, almost soley because of its power. And Urishifu is still top tier above Lapras, but they almost never Max in battles Instead wanting to take advantage of focus sash or choice band or choice scarf. Also only Urshifu's signature move when non maxed goes through Aurora Veil by critting, their Max moves just goes through Max Protect, but doesn't ignore screens(Lapras's Gmax move or otherwise). One last thing, Single strike is slightly more used in VGC mostly due to dark typing being really good. Even not considering typing, multistrike also has downsides such as hitting static or flamebody, eating multiple Rocky Helmet and Iron barbs chip, and giving opponents the chance to eat their berry to recover when one hit would've been a clean knockout. Overall the two Urshifu's are about even, with Single strike slightly ahead in usage.
@Ian Taakalla *sad noises*
And naturally once again Ice-types suck
I loved this work and analysis! A great watch to have as always!
I love how you pay so much attention to the details of Pokémon, Lockstin! This was fun to watch!
Amazing video as always! I wonder if you two will eventually make a smash bros battle royal as well, once the Pokémon battle royal thing ends.
The time was worth it like always
In competitive, Urshifu (S) is actually stronger, being in the Uber tier while Urshifu (R) is in OU Also, the ability bypasses protect. The move only bypasses stat changes (which aurora veil counts as, so it doesn't really matter)
You just gotta love how many thought was put into the making of these. I have watched it like 8 times and still could not get everything.
Honestly, good for Lapras, getting the respect they deserve. An unproblematic fav is ever there was one.
what happened to the reply section
I love that whole dinosaur ice age thing, it and that whole video was so entertaining and fun to watch, and to tol it all of theres the jokes, gags, references, its just all around a really great video. 👍
Dude that gengar story was creepy. Loved it
3:55 "Snorlax needs to try to eat her out...of existence" Nice pause there lmao
The explanation of habilities and stats in the Lapras vs Urshifu fight was great :) 👍❤️
"Snorlax needs to try to eat her out... Of existence." Nice save.
I can't help but think orbeetle was being slept on here, its mind control capabilities should probably be an instawin against a majority if not all of the competion... Though admitedly thats not as entertaining. Well done to everyone involved with this.
Also if you have a item that strengthens critical hits on urshifu R, then it’s signature move does a lot more damage Also I don’t know if it always hits as a crit as a gigantimax
I love how fantastically wrong Pokemon, and by extension you, got the Dreadnought reference. Ironclad ramming tactics were spot on, though. Good work.
Would've love to have seen the Coalossal Steam Engine ability in action 😆😆
This is actually an incredibly close approximation of what the darkest day could have been like if the doggos and their heroes didn't intervene in the canon story of sword and shield.
@bonk It’s so annoying, twitter seems to have the same problem too.
@Satisfactions in Screwing if you think 4 bots is bad, I once saw 16 in a comment section
So many bots, my god.
When golor tyranitar and dragonite were on screen golurk was just thinking wait I'm included while the others were wondering where they were what's happening golrk was just happy to be included
I was expecting the Sinnoh starters to get giga forms. Empoleon would ride/command a whale shaped glacier. Infernape would form a fire version of durga & Torterra would be absolutely massive. But instead they planted a tree on snorlax... I took the last one personally.
I didn’t catch all the easter eggs or even know all the Pokémon versions and descriptions with them, but I do know that battle was pretty amazing.
I was talking with some friends and we agreed you should do a pseudo legendary showdown, I said T-tar would win based on pokedex entry but if you ignore the dex it'd be close between T-tar dragapult and garchomp
I liked the Matrix joke at the end and Snorlax´s "Nom" when eating Alcremie, but the funniest to me was the Mr. Freeze line :D
@Pikamarmot That is 100% TF2 Heavy. They use a lot of his lines in the animation
Funniest parts for me was the TF2 Heavy lines for the coal pokemon and all the dialogue between urshifu and lapras.
@Pikamarmot I thought the nom was by Heavy from TF2
@Pikamarmot Interesting, didn´t know that
That Nom sound came from League of Legends, specifically Chogath. Snorlax puke sound was also from the game but from Tahm Kench.
Imagine if we get regional variants in the next one
Neat analysis! I can't say I agree with all of your conclusions, but I enjoyed it, & agreed with a good portion of it! Thanks for uploading! Also, what's your Outro theme called?
I love how Alcreamie's examination is very suggestive lol She's got that cake, Snorlax is into her and wants to "eat her out...of existence" lol Not sure if it was intentional, but I love it ^^
I feel Rillaboom should have one shot Drednaw due to the 4x weakness it has... I feel that was in error... T.T
11:25 To be fair, that card was pretty much the gold standard for the first 4 years of the trading card game (9 if you don't count ex's), but now Wailord exists, and now we can Dynamax Wailord.
And even though rapid Urshifu was considered vastly Superior to single strike Urshifu I STILL see more single strike than rapid strike and ranked battles.
If Gardevoir is already able to create black holes in her normal form, I cannot even imagine what she could do in a Gigantamax...
I sorta understood why we can't just print money, but recently found out when I played a game of Settlers of Catan. Everyone had way too much sheep, so no one was able to barter with sheep
Wow, ok, didn't know aurora veil was a thing. I'm trying something out with that on showdown definitely.
If Scarlet And Violet have transformations,I am looking forward for that animation and explanation if so
Im surprised there was no mention of the fact that Lapras learns freeze dry which is an ice type move that is super effective against Water types
I love the "OHOHOOOO" on the Kingler, he's also one of my favorites Gigantamax
To be honest, before the ball of ice exploded, I was expecting to get a DBZ-esque thing with Urshifu holding the ball of ice back and Lapras needing to detonate it manually. I'll still believe that's what happened, just unseen.
I thought that was gonna happen too.
It would be fun to have another Eva reference of Urshifu holding the ball up while one or two other Pokemon arrive and attack/"destroy" it, causing it to explode on them.
When I saw Grimmsnarl running, all I could think of was Neon Genesis Evangelion so think that the synchronization episode was referenced and it completely flew over my head makes me a lot more appreciative of going back to watch this video
I was disappointed Cinderace's fireball didn't cause a dust explosion when it comes in contact with the giant stun spore cloud
Charizard gets a lot of love from the creators and large amount of players But man Pikachu is so much worse. To the point where even though it is not the final evolution it's gets a special Z move and a Gigantamax but Raichu is forgotten
I know a lot people won’t care if dynamaxing goes away forever, but I hope that the gigantamax forms will return in some way along with mega evolution, because I would hate to see those nice designs disappear.
I always underestimate how much data goes into these animations, and am do in awe of the hard work you guys put into the writing, this was another great addition to the series
intresting choice of words when mentioning what snorlax would do to the alcremie also i noticed that sneaky little pause after out 😏
Hoping that gamefreak will announce new sort of mega / gigantimax / whatever gimmick, purely so that you and terminal montage can create another battle royale collab
One of my favourite things to do with G-max Lapras is pair it with a Leipard. Have the G-max Lapras use perish song as max guard and Liepard use copycat. Liepard will perish song everything but the lapras.
@Charge basically every Pokémon learns protect. The strategy is very iffy, you need Gengar/Gothitelle + another Perish Song Pokémon on the field at the same time, because if you use perish song on turn one, they can just switch, and if you use a trapping move on turn one, it takes one more turn to kill them. After that, you can protect in 2 of those 3 turns, so that means they have a total of 2 turns to kill your trapper, and because this is doubles, that’s 4 attacks, which would be easily enough to kill the trapper.
@1ts2EZ I bet you could stall with Protect though... Can Gengar learn Protect?
@Luigifan18 yea but just kill the Gengar
@1ts2EZ Gengar's G-Max move stops targets from fleeing.
@Luigifan18 it doesn’t do anything unless you have Gothitelle, and even then they have 3 turns to kill it.
I'm fairly certain Urshifu SS is consider better than Urshifu RS in competitive Pokémon, however in a BR-type situation, Urshifu SS's 4x weakness to Fairy-type sorta justifies why it might be at a bigger disadvantage in that scenario between the two (although both SS and RS have such awful SpDef that both would probably be 1 or 2-shotted by most Fairy-type moves). But in singles and doubles, SS is definitely considered better. People thought RS would be better at first for the reasons this video mentioned, but in actual practice, most of the meta's walls (defensive, tanky Pokémon) happen to resist RS's Water-type signature move vs SS's Dark-type signature move that most of the meta's walls don't resist (not many types resist Dark-type), so SS is much more likely to actually KO its opponent than RS is.
Lockstin: "Snorlax needs to try to eat her out..." WHAT?! Lockstin: "... of existance"
Actually, GMAX Lapras isnt used that much anymore. Most GMax Mons going about now, are Chlorophyll Venusaur
Duraludon is one of my favourite Gigantamax pokemon simply down to the fact that I love The Shard.
On the Urshifu-R vs Ursifu-S discussion, I don't know about other metagames, but in singles Ursifu-S is vastly superior. Water/Fighting is better defensively, but has many top tier pokémon of different types it must watch out for, namely bulky water and grass types (Toxapex, Tangrowth just to name one of each). This also means it has no option in running coverage against both, since for example Thunder punch hits water types but is resisted by grass types. However, Urshifu-S is basically only resisted by fairy types, and it has both Poison jab and Iron head to deal with them. This means that while both Urshifus are tasked on wallbreaking and pivoting around, Urshifu-S is much harder to deal with defensively and thus much more efficient at its job. Thus, why Urshifu-R is currently OU while Urshifu-S is Uber. Of course, this is just for singles metagames and you have other reasons to choose Rapid over Single. Just wanted to comment on this since you said that most agree on fighting/water being vastly superior than fighting/dark in the urshifu context, when that is not the case in some of the biggest (unofficial) formats aka smogon singles.
also wicked blow only activates rocky helmet once as opposed to surging strikes activating it three times
don't forget how d-max is also only allowed in Ubers and I think VGC as well but I'm not sure. Dmaxing has been banned from OU since about a week and a half into SwSh's release.
That's really interesting, because it means both Ursifu have an important niche in competitive Pokemon!
@Donger Lord Both never dynamax at all and if I see them do that it usually is Rapid Strike.
@Mipho I still dont think that would put it over single strike. While rapid is better in vgc with single getting some use. Single was so strong in singles that it needed to be banned. 1on1 was incredibly more difficult to deal with than Rapid in singles.
You should do one with just pseudo legendaries or one with just regional variants.
I also thought gigantamax would be a battle royale.. Hope regional forms will be one too.
