I've been a fan of Def Leppard for many years & seeing that Joe Elliott is a fan of GHOST really made my day. Beyond Cool!!!

Apparently Phil Collen played the album. And Joe started liking them. And this album is Def Leppard inspired.

sort of like saying "Britsh punk" as snotty gruff accented rock songs that are under 3 minutes, even though much of that came from like, NYC or California

@Michael Hawkins i haven't thought about it too much, but i guess when i think of NWOBHM i think of melodic/lead heavy stuff like Judas Priest, Diamondhead, etc(as opposed to aggressive stuff like thrash or something). i realize that's a big spectrum, but i'm used to that these days.

@Hinoirocks Def Leppard are from England, yes, they often get mistaken as being a band from America lol ., They were classed as heavymetal band but had elements of hard rock at least on there first 4 albums , Iron Maidan and Black Sabbath were also from the UK but , how would you classify "British metal" is it where they are from , or how they sound? because most of these bands sounded American , and didn't sing in their native accents , like Def Leppard are all from a town called Sheffield, in south , Yorkshire , England

@Michael Hawkins when they kicked off i was -5 years old, but i've always heard they were some kind of overlap between glam rock stylings and british metal.

You cannot just drop a track like this and then walk off like nothing magical ever happened. We need a behind the scenes video. Some context here like holy hell!

@Grabble yeah but you can hear joe singing too and it’s exciting! Lol maybe it’s a small detail but I grew up listening to bands like def leopard because 80’s is all my mom would listen to and it influenced me. It’s just fun to see older artist celebrating newer artist like this rather than just trying to relive their own glory days. My heart almost exploded with joy seeing this version of the song even if it’s not all that different.

@Ricky Mohl There are many parts that are just Joe. 0:22-0:40, for instance. His inflection at the ends of words is certainly different than Tobias, however their voices do match quite a lot here

If I'm not mistaken, Joe starts in the second verse from "Your desolation" and he sings the rest until the last chorus, where Tobias comes back to finish it... Such a great collab

@bjorn.ungen On the second line, Your desolation, is Joe. Then they take turns and some are in unison. Those of us that have been listening to Def Leppard for 40 years can definitely tell the difference.

I'm a 51 year old metalhead and I love Ghost so much. I'd been aware of them prior to Prequelle, but it was that album that really made me a fan. So good. I was blown away that Impera is even better. I spent about a month listening to it over and over on repeat. Just great song writing all around and so catchy. In fact, I have been urging friends that may not like metal but do like rock music to check them out. My 15 year old son and I saw them last January and they did not disappoint.

@Got no darn clue Metal took a turn towards Thrash in the very late 80s. Much of this melodic and masterpiece Metal was disappearing fast during that era. It's so refreshing to hear a band that isn't persistent on upping the tempo to be heavy than the last band. Like Alice Cooper had said about much of the music back then, "I hear you are angry but where is the music?" Ghost makes music. Metal doesn't have to be double-bass the whole time. Ghost make unpredictable changes in their songs, very creative and original. I can't even imagine what they learned from the guys in Iron Maiden while on tour with them. What an opportunity that was for Ghost.

They just played this on BBC Radio 2. I'd never heard it before but was thinking "Ooo, this is good!". As a lifelong Def Leppard fan it was a thrill to hear the DJ say Joe's name at the end of the song!

Great record. It grows on you. One for the CD people! I like having something physical to look at, read, hold….lyrics. I know I can get all that online…it’s just not the same. And a CD just sounds better than streaming to me.

That’s the prob with this album, too much deff leopard and no black sabbath influence.

Sounds like what they have done is just have Joe do the main lead vocals. All the layers of backing vox are still the original. Listen hard to the centre and you can definitely hear Joe. Tobias' vox are still on the sides.

I was really hoping to get a little more Def Leopard-style flourish from the band but nope same track new vocal layer. Glad people enjoy it though.

Def Leppard is one of my favorite bands and the reason I discovered Ghost. I went to Exit 111 rock festival in 2019 to see Def Leppard and Ghost performed the same day. They quickly became my favorite band. Amazing collab!!

Was a fantastic night. Shame the festival was only a one off.

Great show!! Wish they would do it again. I think they had to compete with Louder than Life not far away. Such a much better venue at Exit 111

I love how nobody can recognize Joe's current voice, he's streamlined his vocal technique since the 90's since screaming an entire setlist into your 60's is not really practical nor possible. You can hear it on the 2013 re-recorded version of Hysteria and Pour Some Sugar on Me.
