Prise de vue remarquables ! Lumières très chaude et théâtrale....Orchestre très soigner et rigoriste ! Capuçon je n'est jamais apprécié, mais là je doit admettre qu'il excelle ( mais ce n'est pas non plus Jacqueline Dupré !!!) Quand à Järvi, du talent toujour du talent et surtout une modestie passionnés..... Quand à la présentation vestimentaires, c'est quand même très honorent de voire c'est belle tenues ! Ce n'est pas comme les concerts du Louvre ou la démagogie prend le pas sur tout ! Bravissimo......

Sublime interprétation, dans la tradition du violoncelle français : classe, élégance, classicisme, lyrisme, raffinement, sans le côté enflammé et surhumain d’une Jacqueline Dupré. Ce concert est un moment rare... On ne voit pas qui pourrait faire mieux que Gautier Capuçon aujourd’hui, qui nous livre ici le meilleur de son art... Excellente prestation globale de l’orchestre galvanisé par son chef, malgré des détails: départ raté de l’adagio par exemple.

I love how he does that majestic part at 37 minutes. Most cellist blast throught that way too fast. It sounds so much better when you slow it down, broaden things a bit.

I think it’s because of his height. He is shorter compared to average so for his technique he holds his cello a bit differently (longer endpin thus a different angle).

Let us all thank Victor Herbert for inspiring Dvorak to write this wonderful piece. It's true, go look it up, using your favorite search vehicle!

When he came to the United States, Victor Herbert was on the staff 0f the Music School and had written a Cello Concerto. After Dvorak heard it, He decided that he should write one, too. And did he ever!!!!

He's gotten even better in the last five years. I heard him tonight with the NY Philharmonic, playing Dvorak. I had a front row center seat directly in front of him, eight feet away. It was a shocking surreal experience. And it was without doubt the finest cello playing I've ever heard. Perfect intonation every second and he played with the most gorgeous and FULL POWERFUL tone imaginable. I'll never forget it. Most astonishing was his utter command and breathtaking expressiveness. And he was as calm and cool as can be. Not a bead of sweat on him. (Like we see in this video.) I have no words for the level of devotion and confidence he exuded playing this piece. I could LIVE in such moments. If only there were more of them in our musical world today.
