Once again I would like to thank you for all the knowledge you share for my two BMWs. I have an 850i (6spd freshly painted original silver), and a 750il (freshly painted original Schwarz II black, both 1992). I do most of my own maintenance here in Texas. You've provided some invaluable insight to help me complete their full restoration. I lived in Germany for six years and learned a lot about BMWs. Many thanks again.

Just be careful using a vacuum in a fuel tank. You will be sucking fuel vapour through an electric motor, which is a potential fire hazard. Always good to see cool cars getting some love though :-)

I went to sleep at 2am watching his video and ended in this one I refuse to fall asleep to some insightful situation so I paused the video and came back to this morning and I’m glad I did that because knowing the shady shit mechanics do he points out the mistakes and “bypasses” mechanics do to get customers to pay a lot for basically no actual labor and cost. Wish we had more mechanics like this guy around! That other mechanic is a piece of shit charging ~6k ($) for wrong fuel lines, wrong spark plugs and putting in the fuel filters backwards. Some of this is down right dangerous for the person driving and engine.
Vor 29 Tageundertree mechanic
In 30 years we wont see any of these struggles, with these small 3 cylinders engine hahahah
Vor 29 TageK Kiely
In the US we have a product called POR15 for rust prevention. You can zinc spray the rust then cover the area with the POR15.
Vor 29 TageK Kiely
If Euro cars have catalytic converters, you shouldn't use silicone spray on the fuel lines. It damages the O2 sensors and cats.
Vor 29 TageSteven Ruiz
I watch the whole wagon series last night where he turned a “not expensive daily” to a M series. I honestly love the way he works and is informative and gives his knowledge out what’s right, wrong, and great for the car. He sticks to a lot of oem parts if he knows it’s still good for the car. He cracks me up the way he throws stuff around though! 😂

I am an ex Master ASE certified mechanic so I can so all of the wrenching myself and make sure it is done properly.
Vor MonatChris Himself
Oof someone needs to get you an 11" flex-head LP90 ratchet by SK. It's one of the best I've ever used and saves me from terrible swing arcs like the one you busted your hand on. On Porsches you can break a really expensive air/oil Separator housing, and coolant barb fittings associated with when you're working on the front of the engine so it's become an old friend. I also keep a drawer of those coolant barbs now.

Is there any way these videos get to the original mechanic? You said this was work of professional BMW service provider - it would be more beneficial if they saw issues with their work so that they can educate themselves and not make the same mistake with more customers. If I was the former owner of this vehicle, I would mail these videos to my mechanic and demand explanation.

Vor MonatSigurður Þór Bjarnason
Hey man love the video but you really should not use a vacuum cleaner for the fuel tank that is really dangerous because the petrol is still vaporizing and that will go through your hot vacuum cleaner and if there is sufficient heat it will explode, I am being extremely serious the bag in the vacuum cleaner will collect all of the petrol and create an explosion. I am not saying this to sound like a smart-ass it is really because a mechanic shop burned down in my country when the owners son was doing the same thing as you and it did explode.

I heard something a long time ago that's stuck with me all these years through my own car projects: _"Professional_ just means you paid somebody to do it." 5,000€ for backwards fuel filters, bad coils, and the wrong plugs doesn't surprise me at all, unfortunately. The same people who could afford these cars new tend to prefer writing checks to getting their own hands dirty, and there are other people who are happy to take that money and do the absolute bare minimum. In my experience, 95% of the work I have to do on a car I own is _undoing_ what's been done to it before I got my hands on it, including lots of things done by so-called "professional" mechanics, fab shops, tuners, stereo installers, and so on. My current toy car is a "professionally built" 650hp Audi with ~$75k worth of parts and labor dumped into it. Previous owner is a legit millionaire, and he just sprayed this thing with the money hose. All the best parts money could buy. Time, depreciation, and his desire for newer/better/faster cars meant a regular guy like me could afford it (less than the cost of a new A3). It's a monster, but the more I dig (for general maintenance), the more cut corners, shoddy craftsmanship, and lazy cheap incompetent "professional" work I find. This guy was duped by a shop he gave PILES of money to, for years, and he never even knew it! He sang their praises and pushed his friends their way for business. Meanwhile, he was getting fleeced.

I love your videos. My only concern is when you used the vacuum to clean out the gas tank. Yes, the liquid fuel may have already been soaked up, but fumes can still exist in the tank. The vacuum can suck up those fumes, and put them next to an electric motor can can spark. Just don't want to see you go kaboom.

I don`t know construction of this engine, but how is possible to fire up without belt. In most of these cases the engine will be gone due to beat between valves and pistons, may be here is different situation. Or may be there is a chain about sync the shafts and this belt is only for the additional stuff like water pump, AC ect.
