As a Finnish citizen, I can confirm he actually is exactly like represented on this interview. I notice he isn't quite as well-spoken in English as he is in Finnish, but he's been super nice to everyone around him. Then again, Finland has had very similar history as far as the presidents go: not confrontational at all.

@Froggy Legs Saouli is very smart WHY Russia had to launch a special military operation. And I think he knows very well. So joining NATO? It's just a formality. Finland has been participating in a partnership with NATO for at least a decade, it has been informal if for a long time only a document has not been signed. Erdogan already has his reasons for not allowing them this official entry, given that he has been flirting and cooperating more with the Russian Federation than the EU for a long time and successfully balances between the USA and the EU, it is clear to read that he is a very careful and wise leader of his country. Considering that members of the Russian Federation prevented him from being removed from the head of Turkey and even attempted to assassinate him, he personally and the entire Turkish nation owe a lot to the Russian Federation. I think that this connection between the Russian Federation and Turkey will continue to strengthen, both militarily and economically and geopolitically.

As smart as Saouli might be, he should know WHY Russia had to start the special military operation. And I think he knows. So joining NATO? Makes me wonder what they really will gain from that. Erdogan is already ok with what HE could get out of it.

This is why countries like Finland are as good as they are. Incredibly down to earth, none of the unnecessary posturing and constant drama. While some governments get stuck in an endless cycle of blame and redirect, riling up people against each other, countries like Finland just, you know, move on and make good things happen.

@Gee M Well, you are making some interesting points. I guess I haven't had the experience of freedom of speech being low in Finland during my lifetime of close to 40 years or heard any stories strongly indicating that from my family/relatives a couple of generations back or any other secondary sources etc (a matter of definition what "low" means of course, and I am really talking about post WWII, since it is around that time my parents were born and I don't really have access to primary sources from before then. My intuition/limited knowledge indicates however that any lack of freedom of speech before WWII would be more because of outside forces than Finland/Finnish values itself). At least when talking about it from a legal point of view or when comparing to the rest of the world at large. I guess I was also making the point that a "conformist culture" (whatever that might mean) does not automatically translate to a lack of freedom of speech, but I am fully aware that I may have misunderstood something about your argument or some nuance about it.

@Jack Oh Hello my British friend!! I believe it's up to all of us to love all people. It would be great to meet some day. Consider coming to Seattle and Las Vegas and we can go to the best MLS football team, Seattle Sounders and then to the best NHL team Seattle Kraken!!!! Whenever I meet a Brit, I always become friends!!! You are great people!!! I have been to the UK about 20 times and I've loved each time!!! You are great people!!! The US stands stands with its greatest ally: the UK. It's like they say: Australia, Canada, UK, and USA... You mess with one and you get all four. I hope for peace, but we cannot allow Putin into our countries...

@Jack Oh I think the United Kingdom is one of the best countries I've ever been to.. Although I've never been to Northern Ireland, I've been to England, Scotland, and Wales and I absolutely love how everyone is proud to be from the UK, but they are very proud to be from their own part of the UK!!!! What a great place the United Kingdom is. When the UK was suspected to be attacked by terrorists, I was in the US. Americans were absolutely furious and demanded the US got involved. The UK is one of the countries the United States will stand behind. I don't think a lot of Brits, Scots, or Welsh know that, but the truth is the United States loves the UK along with other countries in Europe. I just don't understand why so many Europeans hate Americans. I've lived in both Europe and America and I have to say this whole "America vs. Europe" thing is absolute rubbish. We need to build a world where we can live together and allow the freedoms that people deserve. I live in Seattle now but my wife and I are building a home in Las Vegas. We are also looking to build in Brasil, the UK, and South Africa. It would be great if your family and you would come pay us a visit in Vegas!!! Just so you know, people in Vegas absolutely LOVE the Brits!!!! I remember a time a few years ago when I was down in Vegas a few years ago at Caesars Palace and two gorgeous women asked me if I would take a picture of them. It quickly became evident they were from England when they asked for a photo in front of the Celene Dion theatre. I gladly took their photo for them and as I turned around, there were about 20 people clapping and starting singing "God Save the Queen"!!! I took 14 people out to dinner that night and the British women were so thankful. It was great because nobody said a thing about what nationality they were from but instead we were all just happy to be together as humans!!!! Jack, I have a buddy from Hilversum, Holland and friends from Darmstadt, Germany who will be meeting me in Vegas this summer. It would be great if your family and you would join us. Everything would be on me. You will pay for nothing. One of my favourite things in the world is to be with family and friends and I don't think people do that enough. Please consider my offer my friend!!!

The thing with our Finnish president is that he sees himself as equal as anyother finn and is not above anyone. Care about everybody else. This was really seen a few years ago when he travelled from Finland he was in economy class on the aircraft reading a newspaper or when he went on a for him interesting event at a auditorium and the seats were full so he saw that and sat down in the staircase and was 100% fine with that and didnt want to disturb anyone or when he was as a president shoveling snow from his own home and journalists photographed him and basicly told them that its fun to do these normal things. Theres alot of high rank people that can learn from him!

Many people have read the thirty-eighth and the thirty-ninth chapters of Ezekiel, and have wondered and longed to know what those two chapters can mean; what it is to which they refer. And, all this time, the first verses of these same chapters of Ezekiel tell definitely what is referred to; what nation of to-day is meant in those two chapters. Read the verses: “Son of man, set thy face against Gog, the land of Magog, the chief prince of Meshech and Tubal.” In the Revised Version it runs thus: “Son of man, set thy face toward Gog, the land of Magog, the prince of Rush, Meshech, and Tubal, and prophesy against him.” And the same connection is found in the third verse, just following, and also in the thirty-ninth chapter. Now, we shall not attempt an exposition of these two chapters; we simply point out the meaning of the names that are spoken, that all may plainly see what nation is referred to, and that that nation is Russia. MON 26.2 The text reads: “Son of man, set thy face toward Gog, of the land of Magog, the prince of Rosh, Meshech, and Tubal, and prophesy against him.” MON 27.1 Meshech was one of the grandsons of Noah. He passed up from the country of the Euphrates, through Mesopotamia, into what is now Russia, and became the origin of the people who settled in the place and built the city which is now called Moscow—the Muscovites—“and who still give name to Russia throughout the East.”—Rawlinson. MON 27.2 Magog was another of the grandsons of Noah. He peopled all of the north of Asia: that part which in ancient time was called Scythia, and in our days is called Siberia. MON 27.3 Tubal is another of the grandsons of Noah. He settled in the region which still from him bears the name Tobolsk. MON 27.4 Now, the “prince of Rosh” is the chief of all these; and that word “Rosh” is the root-word from which comes Russia and the Russians. 5 So, the thirty-eighth and the thirty-ninth chapters of Ezekiel are the Word of God to all people to-day, concerning the place which is occupied by Russia, its position, and its career, in the last days, and up to the very last day. The account says definitely that it shall be “in the latter days” (Ezekiel 38:8); the great feast of the fowls of heaven, of Revelation 19:17, 18, is mentioned in Ezekiel 39:17, 18; and the six plagues are referred to in Ezekiel 39:2, margin; and the seventh plague, in Ezekiel 38:22. See Revelation 16. Throughout Ezekiel 38 and 39 this power is spoken of as coming from the “north quarters.” And by looking at the map it is easy to see that russia does occupy the north quarters of the greater part of the whole eastern world. MON 27.5 There is another prophecy which comes in, in this connection, and which makes plain to all people the connection between this power—Russia—and all of those western powers of Europe that occupy the territory of Western Rome. There comes next a scripture that shows a blending of all these: not a blending in unison, but a blending in their interests, which causes continual jealousy and contention among them. It is the prophecy concerning!!!

He speaks way more directly in English than in Finnish as he lacks the nuance of a native English speaker, and the speech patterns have to be simpler. I feel like it's easier for a foreign journalist to get a straight answer out of him for that reason. His Finnish speeches tend to be very subtle and contemplating. The calmness and the thoughtfulness comes through in any language though.

I think you can basically sum this up by the saying "It's better to be safe then sorry". He doesn't necessarily think Russia would attack Finland but he's taking the safe option that also puts Finland in a better position to make a positive change in the world and lead humanity to peaceful times.

@mos flow ✔️ Many people have read the thirty-eighth and the thirty-ninth chapters of Ezekiel, and have wondered and longed to know what those two chapters can mean; what it is to which they refer.

It's interesting to see how nice CNN interviewer is to the interviewee while they both are white, and not the other way when the interviewee is Chinese or could not speak the same way as the CNN reporter could. I still remember how insulting it was when CNN interviewed our Chinese ambassador in the US. What a bloody constrast. Finland has a long history with Russia. They were already at war before the start of the world war 2 officially. And so when Hitler attacked, they joined (but they were not the Axis). I have respect to the Fins, a lot of respect given that they told Hitler they just wanted what supposed to be theirs and so once the line was reached, they stopped moving forward. A word from a true man. And consider how small the country is, everyone is trained as a soldier just like the Singaporean. Russia can not just walk on Finland easily. Probably the only country that can fight in the winter. I doubt Putin will do anything to Finland. The goal is still Ukraine, Putin is very clear. Putin is very calm. A man like him does not do rash thing. This has been carefully calculated and planned. At the moment, Russia is toying with Ukraine. If Putin's objective is like what Zelenskyy said, killing as many Ukrainian as possible, he will not need to send in troops, just throw in a couple of expired nuclear stock pile onto Kiev and case close. That would be a true extermination - but Putin has not done that. Why? Is he "really losing" the war? It's so naive to think Russia is losing the war. Yes, they are losing the war on the news media becoz I dont speak Russian, I can only read English based newspaper. I don't read Indian newspaper, and I cannot read arabic newspaper, so my view is also being steered by the western media. Hence that negative feeling on Russia all the time.... but what strikes me was, who is getting the benefit out of this war? Always go back to the question of motive. US may not have pulled the trigger, but they effective sold Zelenskyy out and Zelenskyy either is stuipid or selfish to sell his own people out. When you piss off your next door giant, this is what you get in reality. This is not a TV show or comedy he made. The collateral damage is his people, not himself. I feel really sorry for the Ukrainian people, being caught in the middle of a proxy war between United States and Russia. Soon many other countries will be dragged into this.... and the weapon manufacturers are the happy campers. I think the weapon manufaurers in US should dish out some of that profit to the poor and ask them to fix the bridges and medical system in the USA. That would be a fair share of social responsibility. I feel sorry for the poor people in the US who does not have access to decent medical care (while I could get that coz I have the money and I am Chinese and I could travel to US to get whatever treatment I want coz I sit on top of the food chain - so unfair, isn't it? Also a big insult to the ordinary people in the USA). Again, just an example of my point. Just that not many people can see thru the scheme behind all this. Many of us still believe the pure black and white and thought the world is just as simple as Captain America wants it to be.

@Bambina Forever Putin called him. National leaders are going to need to & want to know what another one is calling about, and take the call. They can't ignore it bc they don't like the person calling. They have to apply diplomacy or they could create an international incident, and even war, especially with someone like Putin. & They might call so as to use diplomacy & prevent action being taken or to find out what is going on with relations between countries. Finland was getting 20% of their energy from Russia & that is ending or just has ended, and that had to be discussed. & Maybe he wanted to tell him he didn't think the invasion was justified or that Finland would not put up with one either. Bc of the shared border, Putin might get ideas, & he's known to act on stupid, destructive ones. Leaders have to talk to fascist leaders sometimes. And then probably often need to hit the sauna and steam out the ew. 😂

Vor 2 StundenB K
Vor 5 StundenFroggy Legs
As smart as Saouli might be, he should know WHY Russia had to start the special military operation. And I think he knows. So joining NATO? Makes me wonder what they really will gain from that. Erdogan is already ok with what HE could get out of it.

This is why countries like Finland are as good as they are. Incredibly down to earth, none of the unnecessary posturing and constant drama. While some governments get stuck in an endless cycle of blame and redirect, riling up people against each other, countries like Finland just, you know, move on and make good things happen.
Vor MonatMarkus Lautkoski

Vor MonatEric Weiler
