the incredible thing about fall out boy is the fans grew with this band. I started listening when I was in 7th grade. I'm 29 now with fall out boy tattoos that I hide under my business casual attire at my job lol. I can't wait to show my kids these guys. They will always have a special place in my heart. It feels like they all finally got on the same page again 🥺 bc I know Joe was not exactly thrilled with Mania as a whole, but the band (especially Patrick and Pete, from the interviews I’ve seen) doesn’t want to just copy their old catalog. So balancing experimentation with their rock roots is a win all around 💯

@Ash Baker i was originally pushing for only a IOH and/or Folie sound but now I’m so glad they still kept some elements from their post-hiatus music because this is definitely more exciting to hear. I’m glad they’re still comfortable experimenting and trying new sounds, despite the harsh criticisms from the last two albums. I think as long as there’s no compromise on the guitars and drums, they can’t disappoint. Musical geniuses 😍

And I’m so glad Patrick pushed for them to work with Neil Avron again 😁 to me, the synth instrumentals at the beginning at very MANIA, the vocal style and melodic lines are very SRAR and AB/AP (especially the echoing “whoooaas”), and the stronger guitars and drums are a return to IOH and Folie ❤ I think there’s lots of ways to “hear” this new style though bc it’s an evolution of all their prior work!
