@Glen McGillivray Clocks do not rotate automatically. No item does. I don't think you can "pause" a clock in any way, either.

Vor 2 Monate
Glen McGillivray
Glen McGillivray

@TheDream64 but. Do clocks rotate automatically. Or just display a graphical representation without any intelligence. Because programming clocks to rotate to the relevant time of day would have been a clever feature. Almost as big brained as letting me send a signal into the item frame to 'lock' a clock for entirely cosmetic effect. Say a haunted house build. (Although I suspect you can do that with a armour stand, because we can accomplish just about anything with that thing)

You could also try to play with wool. just put wool on every but one side of skulk sensor, and it would activate only while you walk in front of this open side. So if you have it on one side of door it only "hear" you walking in or out. or maybe placing one wool between skulk sensors?

Vor 2 Monate
ICountFrom0
ICountFrom0

Combine the wool on the sides and bottom, with a thin entry passage with it's own door triggered by you entering and exiting... Say, 10 long passage, The sensor is under block 5ish. A 3x3 door at block 7 opens up, and purposefully takes a few moments to open (and is insulated from the sensor with wool undernieth. Behind you at block 3 another door goes UP into place behind you, that is likewise soundprooted and does not trigger the sensor.

Vor 2 Monate
Sh3phrd
Sh3phrd

Yes, I think the best result would be to keep the sensors 7 blocks down, but with a 3x7 wall of wool between them up to the ground. Keeps the detection area small and will always only activate the sensors on the side of the entrance he's in.

Hey Etho, love the technical videos! Remember when you built a movable storage system with minecart chests? With shulkers it may not be necessary but I think it would be a cool novelty to have a base where sculk sensors detect your presence, then call the storage system to the location you are at. I'm certainly going to try this myself.

Vor 2 Monate
TackStash779
TackStash779

If I've learned anything from engineering, if one sensor is not enough add more. Since these are so compact, you can use a vertical stack of them and take the average of their outputs. You can also use a horizontal line of them, along the traveling path to gather data to determine traveling direction more accurately. These are really cool

I had the same double subtraction idea as you, but your explanation gave me another idea: Just subtract 3 when it's sunny. You can remove the redstone torch from the AND gate and just put that signal into the piston that enables the connection from the barrel to the comparator going into the side of the other comparator. BTW, it should also work to not have barrel→comparator→block→comparator, but just barrel→block→comparator, but maybe there's also some updating bug then, I haven't tested that.

Hey Etho, you could use wool to block the sculk sensors and make the detection range more linear without needing to have the sensors so far down. I would imagine it probably only takes about 2-3 blocks tall walls of wool on either side and one in between the sensors.

If I'm not mistaken, that mechanic where villagers don't close their trades is actually used in Ilmango's peaceful challenge to exploit a bug that happens when you open the trading window w/ a wandering trader and unload the guy. Hey Etho! I’ve got a suggestion to that sensor that may solve the issue of staying in the zone for too long! Instead of having both sensors so close to each other to see which ones win.. you can separate them into zones so for example a zone would be in the chest room, and another one would be outside of the room. This way you can detect which zone was triggered last (as long as you make it so the detection radius don’t intersect!) This may be less compact but may also be more versatile! Cheers

I wonder, how many of Etho's viewers still remember the Dragon Hole. And how many recognized it, just from him falling down.

I love how Etho is really the only guy to use locking repeaters casually

Take all the time you need with the trader! Since you have talked about them making grinding a bit too ‘easy’ (paraphrasing) it makes sense to instead put the time into the creation of the machine to even it out, sort of! Love the episode already!

I love the Walk-In/Out Detector Mechanic! There's so much that could be hooked up to these to reduce constantly running systems in bases. Lights? Easy. Moving decorations? Check. Forgot to turn off a farm before leaving? Not anymore! You could even rig an alarm system with this - just enter or leave through the right doorway to arm/disarm the security. It seems like a simple gadgety mechanic, but there's so much potential... Thanks for fiddling around with old and new redstone things, I appreciate these episodes so much.

I don’t know the name for the specific type of decoration, but your villager trading system reminds me of those liquid filled tubes on the side of jukeboxes, with all the bubbles running through…

This brings back memories of the old mob sorting system in the fortress base. And was that the actual dragon hole! That was an episode 😂

This reminds me of your older videos so much. I remember spending hours pouring over the video of your storage room and recreating it.

December 7th, 2010. A legendary series was started and its amazing to see that its being continued to such an extent. Almost twelve years at the time of this comment, not a single episode being boring or lame, always amazing to watch over and over. Keep up the amazing work of blessing us with your videos Etho.

another way to update the door system with skulk sensors is to just have each sensor cover the 2 separate "areas" you care about and have the signals feed a basic RS latch, so have one only hear you when you are inside the room or maybe ALMOST inside and have the other cover the area outside its entryway with no overlap, this method will always work even if you stop right at the midway point as your not relying on timing, even if you shift inside your room and then make some noise it will still work because the whole room is covered, no pistons, no piston noise needed, just pure redstone

Etho somehow genuinely makes it interesting to learn about how daylight sensors work under different circumstances. I'm really interested in making one myself now despite the fact that I have no use for it. Great episode as always!
