We as normal people can walk outside and do whatever we want without being judged by millions of people, while he can’t even leave his house without people taking pictures and getting all up in his business.This is the cost of fame and success. I’m 14 years old. I grew up on Eminem. He never once disappointed me in his music or his actions. I remember listening to Not Afraid and feeling like I could do anything. I feel so bad for him 😥. He poured his heart and soul into this song and this entire album. You can hear his voice shaking (3:10, 3:45, 3:50, 3:56) because of how much this song means to him. He was probably so excited to finally unveil to the world what he had been working tirelessly on for four long years. He was probably also terribly nervous, anxious to see how the world would respond to by far his most vulnerable and “real” project yet. So I can’t even imagine how painful it must of been for him to see his masterpiece, the album he worked harder on than any other in his career, get ripped to shreds. It must have been so painful and embarrassing to see his pain, his sadness, his grief, and his heartache get mocked. To see his insecurities and his his fears get clowned on. Most of all, it must have felt horrible to see his “fans” turn their back on him when he needed them most, after everything he’s done for us. This was him at his most vulnerable, he finally, after 20 years, fully shared with us the deep, raw emotions that he keeps bottled up inside. He exposed how much the burdens he carries truly affects him. Remember that much of his life has been a tragic rollercoaster of hurt, suffering, and regret, mixed with some extreme, unsustainable highs (literally and figuratively). I’m a grown man and I cry every single time I listen to this song. It saddens me to see this album get hated on just because all people want is a catchy beat and fast lyrics like” Rap God” that they can blare out of their shitty speakers while doing donuts in the high school back parking lot while snorting cocaine. Just remember that he, and any other artist, is human too, as the chorus says.
