As much as I love happy and poppy songs, sometimes I need an album that understands the struggles and challenges am facing in life and makes me feel less alone in it. Ed Sheeran has done it again

I love Ed Sheeran so much but when my fiancé passed away 5 years ago I couldn’t listen to him without crying. And now with this album I can finally listen and it’s happier tears. Crazy how you can learn to grow with the artist that perfectly describes your feelings.

When I first heard just a portion of this song, at the initial listen, I thought it was just a routine break-up song, but after taking a closer look at the lyrics and looking up the backstory behind this (and discovering that this is actually about coping with death and grieving), it just hits completely different now. Just beautiful.

Has he lost someone?! Ohh I hope not a baby. I just don’t get this song and this big soft toy.. ? and that beginning when he seems drowning.. really disturbing. Weirdly, a couple of days ago my LO invented that “game” in the pool.. 😑

I lost my dad to suicide 16 years ago. I’m 23 now, this song is a very accurate and beautiful way of describing what it’s like to lose a loved one. The pain never fades, we just grow and deal with it differently

This has become my new favorite song. I watched the documentary on Disney+ and cried through most of it. Ed has an amazing heart on top of all his talent. It’s incredible. I’ve lost too many people I love and I’ve had a few very rough years so this new album really speaks to me. Thank you, Ed, for your vulnerability making this album and the documentary!!

Ed you will probably never read this but in the tiny chance you will i want to say i am not a die hard music listener but you’re music gets me hooked to listening over and over and enjoying every minut of it. Amazing song from another amazing album. Hope life finally go’s up for you again. You deserve it so much! This grief also translates to anxiety always feeling like there’s something there with you judging you always following you and having an overbearing weight that’s hard to escape. It’s such a beautiful song and is relatable, portrays emotions and it’s not just some song that can make the most money for you it’s real.❤️

So it is always watching and trying to help, but when we try to hide from it, it doesn’t work. Embrace it and try to live with it. It may never go away, but you can learn to cope. ❤

I’m sorry for your loss. I lost my Grandpa in ‘03, my Mom in ‘06, a dear friend in ‘15, my Dad in ‘19, and my grandma in ‘21 so hearing this song did help me. Pop songs are great, so is rock, but sometimes you need something you can relate to and this song just… I don’t have words

The scene where we see everyone else being followed by grief just hits hard. Its the reminder that we all have to go through this eventually, but it is also reminding us that we are not alone with our pain.

Edward is definitely a creative guy, especially the way he expresses himself through his music on his personal emotions. I also sensed nostalgia from this video to previous ones such as Drunk, Bump and Give me love. When he makes down to earth, soul-inducing songs, this is true. But in recent years he's made music mainly to please the larger audience which means his music is very much like everything else being produced. But I'm hoping subtract will bring him back to his early days of song writing, which to me, was the peak of his lyricism.

I lost my Dad just over a year and a half ago, not long before Visiting Hours came out. As sad as it makes me every time I hear it, there's some sort of comfort knowing other people have been though it too - especially someone I look up to. This song is the same. I went to a concert of his in 2015 and he’s still to this day the best artist I’ve ever seen live. His voice is so good that it actually sounds better live because a recording studio cannot do him justice. Like imagine being that good of a singer that your voice cannot be captured in its best form.

Ed, I am so proud of everything you have achieved and I am so happy I bought that + cd from the supermarket in 2011. If I hadn't done that, God knows what I'd be doing now. I wrote my first song when I was 5 years old, having just listened to Small Bump. I haven't been able to get any of the other albums, but I ended up buying the CD for - the other day. You inspire so many people, you save lives and you make this world so much better just by being in it. All the way from Drunk till Eyes Closed, and whatever comes next, you are a superstar, if you didn't already know that. I commented on the I Will Remember You video a few months back, and that was when I took time to listen to your whole catalogue over again. I realised ther are a few songs on = that I love to have a cry to. I Will Remember You, One Life, First Times, Visiting Hours and strangely Overpass Graffiti. You have changed my life, saved my life and God knows what else, but just know, we Sheerios love you and we all know that this is going to be another timeless Ed Sheeran masterpiece.
