Excuse me miss “girl with the dogs”, but have you heard of miniature German shepherds? If so, can you help me find one? I had a full pedigree German Shepherd girl and she was the best. At almost 50, she was very hard to life into the truck when her legs went. I’ll never forget how hard it was to load her into the truck when she had cancer. I know not every dog is the same but I’ve never had such a sweet friend. I just think it’s irresponsible to get such a large dog when I’m the only one who will be taking her for care. I don't listen to that music genre, but reading your comment, I remembered I've heard that sound coming from the vocalist of a Christian metal band (I had no idea that was a thing) and a great one too. 😃 Their bass player is the trainer in charge at the gym I go to and he showed me videos of them playing. I was shocked at how good it sounded, because he did it as a way to emphasize certain Biblical verses and the technique he used sounded ultra polished. EDIT: I cared for a humongous pig at a rehab center I spent a year in. She had blue eyes and long, blonde eye lashes. I was scared of it when feeding her until I decided to get experimental and give her a belly rub from afar. She started squinting her eyes and twitching her hind legs. Without warning, she let herself go and immediately plopped on her side so I could have easier access to her belly. We became good buddies, so I named her Kathy. Months later some dude came in the morning and slaughtered her. Turns out she was there just to be fed as a Christmas pork. They put her cuts in a large freezer in our kitchen. I refused to eat anything but chicken from that day on, and we had egg-laying hens but we only ate their eggs, not them. Kathy was the nicest pig I've ever met. 😪

My neighbors had a potbelly pig that looked just like Mabel. His name was Cledus and he was awesome. He escaped one day and found his way into my backyard where my 500+ lb Hereford x Landrace sow lived. It was love at first sight! From that day forward, he would find a way to escape his house at least once a week, trot the 1/2 mile to my house and we would find him outback serenading my big girl through the fence and rubbing noses. And when he was ready to go home he would just come headbutt my front door, I'd give him a treat and then walk him back to his place. This went on for almost 2 years before my old girl passed away. He would still come visit whenever he could. He would go to her old pen, sit quietly for a bit and then come get me and we would hang out for awhile before I brought him home. He just passed away last year and I miss him as if he were my own.

Why is the world would anyone have a cow and pig mix?

My neighbors had a pet pig also who would wonder down and hang out for a while and then go home on his own. His eyes were mis-matched and located in a slightly different position on his face. I never knew what to think of him-- my only exposure to pigs is the Old Yeller/Wizard of Oz movies from my childhood but he was a well-behaved guest!

My grandma used to say that back when the city was smaller (and the bridges were functional, before the main river got tubed and covered by a very wide street with trees in the middle), an elderly couple used to walk their very large pig and their goose on the weekends. She said they were thrilled to be outside their farm and very well behaved. She didn't know if they were visiting someone on the other side of the river, or if they just went out for a nice walk. Such sweet beautiful animals.

I grew up with a friend who had a potbelly named Hampton that just roamed his property. He knew basic commands like come, stay, and even sit. Anytime we played outside, which was all the time growing up together, Hampton would come and follow us around. He never really got in the mix of us playing, but would just be near us anytime we were outside. One year, our families were celebrating Easter together. Our Mom's went out and hid eggs for the egg hunt only to find out during that Hampton had gone around and eaten all of the Easter eggs.

We used to go to this plant nursery which had a huge pot bellied pig. He was honestly one of the most well behaved, clever and cute animals I’ve ever come across. He even worked out that if he pushed into kids too hard he’d knock them over so he’d be very gentle. He was also your best friend for any food.

Hilarious 😆. I lived briefly with a dramatic potbelly named Rosie. She opened gates on command and helped feed the horses. But her best performance always came when a visitor accidentally parked on "her spot", which so happens to change daily, so nobody was ever safe from a mega diva drama and a wagnerian aria. Her best times were in the mudpool. I lived with her over the course of a long summer and she taught me a lot about pigs in general and tantrum productions in particular.

My mother had 2 pigs growing up and she told me that whenever my grandmother would run her bath water she had to make sure and close the door because if she didn’t the pigs would jump in the tub before she could. They would get in and sit and wait until someone came in to scrub them down lol. Also in the mornings my grandmother would send the pigs into my mom and uncles rooms to wake them up for school.

Reminds me of my old pet pig BeefStew. Dude was so destructive but I loved him, I remember the first time I ever welded something it was a kickass feeding trough. He ate one meal out of it before I woke up the next day to find the entire metal feeder stomped completely flat and shoved into the mud. It was entirely made of metal and it was absolutely wrecked. 😂 miss you chonky boy

@GoldenPeaches Second that. Pigs do not like being picked up. They are a prey animals. Evolution makes them never happy to be picked up. Bad outcomes usually happen when a pig is picked up. Car rides are ok. Our pig got excited whenever he saw a pickup truck in the lane next to us, or a Dairy Queen. (He had a small bite one time. After that, just like a child screaming to stop for more.)

I had a pot belly pig when I was a little girl up until I was out of high school. “Harley” the pig was the smartest pet I ever had. Potty trained, neutered, rode a skateboard, had a play pin with his stuffed animals which he gathered every day before bed and had a great affinity for beer! 🐷 also the cleanest animal I ever owned go figure.

Honestly, pigs just have too much personality. "Upset but food" had me folded double laughing, and I had trouble breathing when she went from "THEY'RE TRYING TO KILL ME!!! POLICE!!! ANIMAL CONTROL!!! ANYONE!!!" to "This is fine." literally the instant she crossed into the rear compartment.

My daughter’s best friend has rescued four pigs. Three of them had either severe health issues or came from traumatic environments. Each one has their own distinct personality. I’ve watch their transformation over the years into loving pets who share their homes with three dogs and two humans.

@Carolyn S I have a potbelly pig who is 2... definitely in her terrible twos currently cause she figured out how to get into our pantry and tried to eat all of our oatmeal... And I also work at a farm animal sanctuary that is dedicated to rescuing and rehoming potbelly pigs (although we have many other animals and 2 farm pigs). From experience, owning a pig is pretty much having a toddler for 10-20 years. 100% one of the hardest things to do but also the most rewarding!

We used to raise a very small piglet. Dramatic is putting it lightly! If you caught him trying to open the kitchen cabinets or scolded him for anything else he’d snort and grunt at you 😆

We lived on a farm and raised American Guinea Hogs. The two dogs hanging out away from the cold wind, inside with me, were in fact looking for where I was hiding a pig. The conditioner is a nice touch - they can have really dry skin. Also, an acquaintance decades ago from Pennsylvania who used to sell me flour (small wheat mill) had PBP's, and said the biggest mistake new owners make is to teach the babies to use their noses as a suction cup to open the fridge.

@Nanyang Huayi Different pigs have different hair textures just like cats and dogs, so not all pigs are rough. For the ones that are, for me personally, I'd find it worth it to cuddle with them. Even if their hair irritates my skin, you cannot resist snuggling with such a sweet animal.

Remember, there is no such thing as a "mini" pig, that's just a pig under 200 pounds at full growth. Most get far larger. A single pig is louder and more demanding than 3 huskies.

Mabel was about the weight of an American Guinea Sow. They are a lard (yes I typed "lard" not "large") breed, but aren't as round about the tum, longer legs. The boars can hit 250 at maturity. And yes, belly rubs are a huge thing. Mayer our sweet boar would flop, and he was about 230 lbs at maturity, and that was some huge belly demanding rubs.

Damn having a piglet size little bouncy ball would be my dream pet. Love the sounds they make.
