Hello Marcus. Nice video tour. I live here in Las Vegas, and have driven in your sister’s neighborhood. I like to tell my friends and family, “there is a lot more to Las Vegas than just The Strip.“ Your video is evidence of my point. I’ve lived here for seven years and I absolutely love it. I’m receiving my first drone later today in shipment, the DJI Mini 3 Pro, and can’t wait to start learning how to fly it. The high temperatures this week are such here in Las Vegas (up to 114°), that I will only be able to fly early in the morning from about 7 AM till 11 AM, due to the drone’s maximum outdoor operating temperature at 104°. This will require me to spend my weekend up in Cedar City, Utah at a much higher elevation and where the temperatures will be 10 to 15° cooler. With my four batteries and car charger I’ll get in plenty of training sessions. Not a bad weekend to look forward to. Thank you for uploading this video, I’m looking forward to visiting that area again soon, to get my own shots for my own channel. Best regards, and stay warm up there in Idaho.

Hello, first of all I enjoy watching your content always knowledgeable. So quick question if you could respond. First do you prefer the map or compass on the screen and should I turn on the blue tooth from my phone when flying for the maps. I am still trying to get acquainted with the mini 3. When ever I use the map to fly back with the red line I always get confused lol 😂 I’m sure I do something wrong.

Thank you. I usually fly with the attitude indicator rather than the map. You need to connect the controller via wifi to you phone to cache the maps.

Great looking video! I noticed the battery level indicator on the RC was blinking above the screen. Can that be turned off, and do you find it distracting?

It's difficult to accept that you kept such a very small drone in visual line of sight during this flight.

Just curious, the max height is based on the terrain below the drone and not the take off point? I’ve seen comments claiming both.

The height shown in the app is from the take off altitude. 👍

Correct. The max height is based on the drone's location. The height shown in the app is the height above the takeoff point, so you have to have a good idea of the landscape to do your own estimate of the drone's current height AGL.

I remember Las Vegs well trveling with a friend many years ago. I share a clue how long ago it was. We were walking down the strip and went down a side street directly off the strip and were into sand before the end of a short street that went directly into the desert!! LOL Amazing you may wake up staring at a mountain lion!! Wha. I am sure they can leap right over one of those walls for sure. Amazing being close to Spring Mountain as I can see the layers making it up. The mini did a good job being surrounded by walls and mountains. Storms, heat, and rain, plus work has kept my mini 3 grounded for over 1 week now. I just missed a giant rainbow here leaving Publix with some fresh foods and had to bring everything into my home to keep it cold so no time for even a real shirt flight to get the rainbow. I enjoyed watching your flight so am appeased to at least see a mini get up in the air. Good oneMarcus and I saw Vegas again after many years. Thank you, Ray C. P.S. Also Marcus I myself feel since I just recreational fly man there is no need for me to ever obtain a part 107, even I upload videos on YouTube of my flights and I don’t get monetization ever out of them, they are strictly just recreational enthusiasts only.

@GeezerPleasers oh ok didn’t know, I am from Texas in the DFW metro, only lakes are restricted here I know of are Lake Grapevine it’s near DFw international airport, and Mountain Creek Lake near a old air base.

That's a major no-no. Drones are prohibited throughout the entire Lake Mead National Recreation Area. There is a small area near one of the beaches which is supposedly open to small unmanned aerial systems, but it's explicitly restricted to model aircraft only. The administration of the Lake Mead area is openly hostile toward drones. And with helicopters flying overhead all day (*), you will be spotted and reported. (*) Some are sightseeing tour helicopters, some are government helicopters, and some are from nearby Nellis AFB.
