I've always loved ancient Greek history, social studies, english, poetry, the dark side of things, rain and thunder, harry Potter, ink pens, black coffee, reading, classical music, classical jazz, I want to go to Paris or England or Italy, I've tried learning French (and still am) ...ive never known there was an aesthetic for it

I feel like, while it is nice to have the defined aesthetics to have a starting point or to help find certain clothing, decor, etc. It is best to find your aesthetic. What is it that YOU like to wear. What is YOUR style. Make a Pinterest and just start pinning things. And maybe you will find that it is a majority dark academia. But I bet it will be unique in its own way. Personally I am on the lighter side of academia (between light and classic although at times my outfits are darker) but I also really like nature and have a love of astronomy and science. I enjoy some color in the spring and summer. So while I love learning and reading and academia is closest to what I like by no means do I let it define me. I have just used it to help me begin to define myself. So yes use different aesthetics and try them out on your journey of self discovery but don't get too stuck in trying to fit perfectly within it. Just do, think, wear, etc what makes YOU happy. And so on... :)

i never really looked into what 'dark academia' actually meant, but hearing the term made me think about what it could mean, not aesthetically. to me it romanticizes the outcasting of oneself from current reality and the desire to connect with other artists and writers, who maybe desired to escape their own realities through their ideas. the coffee shop emo as you said in one of your videos. something comforting about going into this long nostalgic timeline of thoughts and ideas, losing and forgetting your self into another paradigm of thought and feeling to be accessed intellectually. it is comforting to be in the company of others that desire to lose themselves in the clouds of thoughts and ideas. getting away from the self, into something else. to me that is the darkness of dark academia, the darkness of dread, anxiety, and existentialism transformed into a beautiful expression of language, so that it can be shared. the comfort of a cold dark library offers a romantic escape, a way to plunge into the darkness with a new light.
