@Yannick Sluyts In theory you aren’t supposed to brake a lot during a bike races. But this is Paris Roubaix. This bike race is known for destroying bikes when racing through the cobbles.

@durianrider you do it with your hand and your do it AFTER cobbles/gravel/whatever dirt you went through. Stop trolling ffs.

@Madridista4ever I don't think that the brakes overheat in a race where the goal is to brake as little as possible. It wasn't a mountain stage.

Correct answer is actually brake fade from overheated disk brake calipers.

Never seen anything so stupid in my life, do up your handlebar stem before the race and read the road as regards breaking. Does anybody know if disc breaks actually exert more stopping force than standard brakes, the cable operated ones on my X bike are not as good as normal brakes but I guess the benefit is mud doesn't clog around brakes .

Nevermind, I looked up the foot braking video, and it's just the guy trying to clear the mud from his tyres, so it wasn't brake related at all.

That implies that intergrated cockpits get loose faster, which isn't true. Chances are, frame has a defect or the mechanic didn't tighten the headset properly. Disc brakes however... I feel like disc brakes for road bikes are just going the wrong direction. Tiny rotors and everything is made to be lighter, plastic everywhere... It just doesn't seem to last as long as its mountain biking counterpart. But, in this video, I have a feeling that it was just a bad brake bleed.

When you use disc brakes because your sponsor said to but your pads wear out so fast you have to use your shoes. To all the people who think he is cleaning the tire...that is what a bottle is for. Why damage shoes and your tire when you can just use a bottle you are going to throw out anyways?

he's pretty obviously cleaning his tyre of mud fam, it's a faster than using a bottle and only causes a negligible amount of wear on ur shoes/tyres. he's not braking look at his foot position, if he was braking he'd be using his foot arch and pressing down hard, not lightly using the heel of his shoe to brush mud off
