Hey Exil thanks again for your videos ! Even one year later going thought your channel's videos the content stays relevant all along ! Here are a few suggestions for futures videos that I would enjoy to see : _History of Gangplank, since I was a main GP before he became overpowered due to klepto and nerfs on his barrels vision. I feel like he was already strong before but under the radar and got nerfed because of his oppressive presence in proplays. I also feels like he is inspired from Cervantes (Soul calibur) which have 2 sword and a gun. Please make his tale great again ! ;) _I'm always looking forward for a new freelow or forfeit video but I guess right now there is not much thing, just Kled on the toplane and fizz mid but they are not as overpowered as TK was ^^'. _History of Sion. @oriongaming This is because Faker understands the game better than most people and has the skills to back it up. Example of this is when he started playing Leblanc mid when Leb was more known for being a poking and damage support kinda like Zyra.

@oriongaming its just that faker does what players like me do find something weird and strong and abuse it but where ppl like me get 55-65% winrate on those champs he gets 90% so people just want to try it out.

""...Riven had no sustain built in her kit..." This reminds me of my friend who actually invited me to play League. Back when Riven was new, builds were really dfferent, you could build same few of item and still be effective. So he played Ninja Tabi + 5 Bloodthirsters. Bloodthirster was a stacking item back then, capping at 70 or 80 AD and 20% lifesteal. So at full build he had 350-400 bonus AD and 100% lifesteal and was totally unstopable. He managed to outlive most of CC and get back to full health in 2-3 hits even if he got low. Only thing that could stop him is 2-5 seconds of constant stun and not all compositions had this or execute it properly. And I miss that time when most ADCs built boots, IE, 2 BTs and 2 PDs :D

This champ... I was never good at playing her and never put in the effort to learn her properly, but she will always have a soft spot because she was the first champion released when I started playing league of legends.

I started playing LoL back in Season 5, I mostly got into ARAM, because I had no idea what I was doing. I remember getting Riven in November or so, and I thought this champion is shit because I was so confused. Around 1 to 2 years later I tried playing her again, but in normal and I was stunned how much fun she was and I tried to learn how to play her. Tbh. I was shit. Great shit. But still, it was a fun time. Especially when I tried to play her support after the great rune rework.

Great video Exil, I love your impartial and informative commentary on the state of the game - there's a tonne of stuff there that I never knew, like her inspiration from Marth. There was one thing missing though, and that was a discussion about the Elixir of Fortitude, the 250g consumable item back in the first Riven hayday. I don't think any champion epitomised the usage of this item more than Riven, the ability to level 2 all-in with the red flask is a big part of her history, and I suspect its removal may have had an even bigger impact than the removal of Brutalizer. That's just my opinion though as a level 2 cheese-scumming former Riven player. :P

From my experience at the end of season 3, riven was totally busted top. Absolutely insane levels of damage early on which made everyone hate her

Nice video, I remember the week riven came out, I put in something like 50 games with her that week! I played a shit ton of jungle and even went top lane. Tried out support riven since she was so good at bullying early game. This video reminded me how much I liked some of the LoL characters, despite not playing LoL since 2014.

Just wanna say as someone that's watched a ton of your videos regarding Riven, mechanics, coaching, and more, this is definitely a truly inspiring video and definitely motivated me to grind her again. I mainly play Melee, and main Marth, and that's why I play Riven, because of how similar they feel. I otherwise main Riven with a little over 400k mastery points in her. On the marth part: That shield part is a huge streach. EVERY character has this shield. A more fit comparison would be Marths side-B and Rivens Q. Both being multi-imput combo attacks with flashy finishers and the ability to weave other inputs inbetween.

Would be cool to see this series continue for all the champs. I know how much effort and and time goes into making one video like this but I still think it would be cool to see >_ (by no means am I saying to make this complete history series go into every champ if Exil doesn't want to because by the end of the day Exil decides what he wants to do or not do. I'm just saying that it would be cool to if he did)

Shame she's struggling right now. I picked a bad season to learn her, but I don't think I'll give up. She really is one of the coolest champs in the game.

I remember a short period where you could stack blood thirsters and easily 1v4 with riven. Best build ever. "dan you need armor pen!" Dan: "mmmmm... I need more blood thirsters."

i reckon you should have included the evolution of riven from pre-animation cancel mechanics vs post animation cancel mechanics.

One thing that you could've added is that her first splash right upon release received several reworks because it was just too darn awkward. It looked like she was riding a bike. Otherwise - great vid!

Awesome video! I played a ton of Riven in season 4. Was diamond V with 72% win rate, which I personally think is pretty decent. But now that I've come back to league, playing Riven feels so off and your video explained why. Guess I have to adapt to a more defensive playstyle now.
