Prepare to drop some knowledge next time you visit the carnival.
Summary: I collected data at the carnival for a full day. Then I used that information to figure out which games are the biggest scams using science to analyze them and show you how to beat them. I also figured out how much the carnival actually pays for the prizes so even if you win, you lose. And then I visited the carnival with my professional baseball playing buddy to dominate all the games. It worked well.

At the PNE in Vancouver, I won one of the huge prizes at one of their "impossible" games. They had a weighted baseball that flew like a knuckleball, and you had to break plexiglass bottles. I didn't tell them before hand I was a pitcher who threw an amazing knuckleball. Needless to say after I missed my first throw and realized the pattern, things didn't go the way the carnie expected. I must say that after having worked in an amusement park and in several of these types of games there is a better way to handle the peach basket one. Throwing the ball at an angle (at least 45 degrees if you can manage it) so that it hits the side of the basket will dissipate the kinetic energy by having the ball roll around the inside. I was told to encourage players to do the very same thing and would demonstrate for anyone who was patient enough to listen to me before making their first throw (Not many). I would spend all day in the corner of the booth throwing the ball into the baskets and making every single one no matter how far away. It never ceased to amaze me how few would ever listen.

The sad part is that they charge like 3-5 bucks per play and the prizes they give out are worth pennies usually. They don't have to make it impossible. One carnival I went to had balloons on a wall with prizes in them and you threw darts. It was very easy to hit the balloons, in fact it was almost impossible to miss them. Yea most of the balloons just had small prizes on them, but at least that one felt fair.
Vor 10 MonateTom Cruz

Another thing I noticed that you didn’t see/mention: the standard three point shot that most people are used to is a high school distance. That is measured at 19 ft 9 inches. The NBA three point is 23 ft 9 inches. So having a carnival shot at 28 ft is approaching half court. It’s VERY difficult for most people to make. Just something I noticed. Great vid!
Vor yearSeekerGoOn2013

On the ladder one, does it count as a loss if you tip, or only if you fall off? If the latter, then tipping over to be on the underside of it would be the winning strategy, if you're strong enough, because then it becomes less a near-impossible test of balance, and more a modest test of strength and endurance.

I've worked at a swimming pool that had one of those rope ladders crossing the water with two mounting points fire the ladder. I crossed by keeping my entire body on the ladder, keeping my center of mass low and moving slowly. It wasn't easy, but I did it. A year prior, I learned from someone how to cross a single rope by keeping center of mass below the rope (rope from collarbone to groin to ankle with knees and elbows below the rope).

Something i learned with the rope climb. After you get about halfway and even a little past. Its easier to finish the last stretch if you allow yourself to flip upside down. The key to ring toss is to throw two rings stacked on one another. The first ring hits the bottle and then hits the second ring stacked on top and the first ring will stay on the bottle. This is why the rules state "you can only throw one ring at a time"
Vor yearlittlegandhi1199
Don't you think if you had some major spin on your ring that it would be more likely to stay on? Because physix? Just a theory. Greater friction and maybe some kind of torque.

Many decades ago, I heard that with the ladder climb, what you want to do is to lay down on the ladder, with your feet at the start, and extend your body as far as you can, and center yourself on the ladder. Then extend out your legs wide to act as balance. Then, reach up with both hands at the same time to grab the ladder, and then you pull yourself upward with both hands at the same time while leaving your legs extended for balance. Guess what? It worked. And for a few years, I had a great time with my dates. Eventually, the rules were changed so that your were mandated to use both your arms and legs to crawl up. Cheating bastards.
Vor 2 Monateoyun_doktoru123
As a winning strategy for that rope bridge, I'd say hug the bridge while trying your best to keep your center of balance in that line and if you fail, just make sure your legs are also holoding on to the steps I'd say.

I managed to get across the ladder multiple times after studying how others kept failing. Basically, the first time, I purposefully flipped it and then just climbed regularly upside down. After it was concluded I had cheated, I went again and spread myself out. Again, I reached the end but had flipped in the last few rungs and my win was invalidated. So I straddled the ladder and raced the person next to me. I won and it was finally counted.

I live close to a beach and pier and there's lots of those games. They used to have the ladder one. It was called 'The Loopy Ladder' the young guy that ran the stall for a few years could walk up and down the ladder no problem. He would do it all the time and people would see him doing it so easily and think they'd be able to do it too. He would offer to help out by holding the ladder steady for people. When the person got about a third of the way up, he would let go, but as he let go he would would ever so slightly jerk the ladder over to one side so the person trying would fall as soon as he let go. My brother used to work on the dodgems next to the 'Loopy Ladder' and he was friends with the dude who ran the stall. My brother was never able to do it though, even though he practised many times.

Here is a tip for the ladder climb. Basically, you climb, then you flip over with you back facing to the ground like you usually would do on the ladder. Then, you manage to not completely get flipped over and hook your legs around the bars and hold on with you hands while still flipped over and you unhook your legs, and start climbing upside down. Easy! (I've tested this and it works perfectly. You just have to hold on.)

I just go to amusement parks for fun like once a year and try to win as much stuff as possible, ya I could buy them but it’s fun to try and win them. Just don’t go often then your wasting your money! Love your videos! Love looking forward to coming home and watching them❤

I grew up in Valencia (Santa Clarita) in SoCal during the 80's home of Six Flags Magic Mountain. My parents would drop me off w/ friends and we all had Season Passes every year! They had most of these carnival games back then and my favorite "big loser" was the ladder. As most kids growing up in that town, many of us ended up working there too. Most my friends chose NOT to work in that area of the park.

For the ladder you, can spin but not fall. Basically you have to climb up it upside down 😂

I used to work a "Jacobs Ladder" at festivals, I did it first try at a six flags in Denver. The secret is to balance your weight on one foot and the opposite hand, then when you step up to switch at same time to the opposite hand and foot.

At a Carnival I once saw an old man in a wheelchair at a shooting booth where you shoot with BBs. He somehow had problems to reload and handle the rifle but he had perfect aim. Ten shots and ten hits. Even the booth owner was a bit surprised. And so this guy rolled away with a teddy bear. I imagine him as a retired sniper and he just wasnt used to BB guns.

Awesome! I always knew they could rip you off. You should do a video about claw machines and arcades. Im pretty lucky with those but it would be cool to see.

Mark has been under police protection since the release of this video, and has had to file a restraining order against 10 different clowns.
