More like "Americans expect actual opposition". Mexicans are just happy to see one of their fighters win, regardless of how much of a feeding it is. This is like when Julio fought guys with negative records while he was more than 40 fights into his career. This isn't muay thai or wrestling, where you fight everyone available and retire with over 250 matches --- this is boxing; you're supposed to continually rise in competition and stay at the highest level until you're dethroned. This guy being mandatory is a joke, not unlike Anthony Joshua fighting Kubrat Pulev who was so inactive against top competition he might as well have been retired. Can't believe the people defending Canelo fighting Yildirim are the same people who bashed Plant for fighting Truax jr. Truax jr vs Yildirim would probably be a 70/30 fight for Truax jr, just based off the fact Truax jr didn't get ko'd hard by some british hype job. Canelo would flatten Eubanks Jr in under 6 rounds and we all know Eubanks Jr flattened Yildirim fast, so - by the math -- this fight should just barely make it into the 3rd - if not finish late in the 2nd.
