Pretty sure that when you use a mortor and pestle as opposed to a food processor the chemical breakdown of the food is different as well. Chopping all the ingredients up just doesn't release as much aromatics and flavor as opposed to a mortar and pestle because you're literally smashing their cell walls. But please feel free to tell me if I'm wrong 😂

In a Mexican restaurant, I usually order deep fried while fish. I am not afraid of bone. Bone should be afraid of me because I can eat an entire fish without choking on bone. I am willing to try other whole fish dishes. The literal ones. 😅

As a Malaysian, that "steal from neighbor" line hit a little to close to home. My best friend had a mango tree that grew inside her yard near her gate and every time there were mangoes... the neighbors would take them.
Vor 2 years@kyleterry5190 +2
We had that happen to us too,but in our case the neighbors were throwing stones at the fruit, some of which landed on our roof

I agree with food processor destroys flavour. You can always tell the taste of sambal made with blender/ food processor and mortar+pestle. Completely different.

In Indonesia we don't always fry the sambal.....it depends which type of sambal, I personally like fresh small chilli eaten raw or made fine with ulek2 (pestle and mortar) fresh with or without trassi/belachan. My mums fried rice (red colour and very hot) is actually just rice with a lot of red fried chilli and egg, different than Javanese and chinese fried rice.

I'm an American in my 50s. When I was growing up, we Americans the negative stereotypes about Brits were that they have bad teeth and their food is usually boiled much or boiled stringy meat. That's why this conversation is funny to me. British chef is an oxymoron.
