my theory on this is since the car was so hot from hot laping it for such a long time that the port for the injectors swelled with the heat. then combined with the loose fuel rail cause a spraying leak like what nick said. now when the car is cold everything contracted and sealed again resulting in no leaks with the pump running just my two cents on it
Buck Rogers
When you were trying to get the fuel rail to leak, remember the car is cold. Think of how hot the block, etc was. The expansion of the metals probably would lead to a spray. Just my thoughts.
Chris Pellatt
100% the leak at the fuel rail was a combination of a loose fuel rail and a very hot motor expanding the injector port. Different metals expand and contract at different temperatures and they differ in how much they expand. The melted brake line was just from the puddle of fuel that was coming out from that side of the car. There isn't enough fluid in those lines to create such a puddle.

Glad you’re safe Collette. I know this is a massive learning experience for u. You’ll come back stronger from this. Keep up the great work you’ve always been doing

i'm a grown man and i don't cry very often but seeing the amount of damage and knowing how much time and effort you put in, it definitely brought a tear to my eye. glad you were able to get out safe. the fire, to me, looked like a fuel and vapor fire for sure. that's the only thing that can create that much heat in that short of time.
Brian Jessiman
It’s fantastic to see how you are using this setback to help others be more safe and in the long run, have more fun.

I'm just really glad you're safe. I'm so sorry that happen to your car. I shed a single manly tear for your stress and the vette. You will be even more savage in the coming time! 💪🏻⚡

Change from the plastic keeper safety lock to copper break-away wire. Just as secure, but super easy to break. It's what we use in aviation.
greg longhurst
This was an eye opener for me! I pay so much attention to the hardware on my wheels and tucking wires all the tiny details but I've never paid too much attention to safety.
Filthy Casual
The sleepless nights rushing to finish the car for the event definitely contributed. Proper heat cycling and stress testing then nut and bolt checks prior to racing is crucial for safety.

The most important thing is that you're safe and healthy as that fire was coming into the cockpit. Obviously you and Nick will investigate and understand what happened and implement safety measures. It will take time but you will come back stronger and be more prepared as you've demonstrated what you can do with the vette both building and driving. Take care and bless you.

i think the reason the fire was on the right side of the car is that the track was slightly sloped that way and the fuel went across the standing water in that direction. Just my two cents. I also am so glad you where not hurt.
Critical Event
I hope you're going to wear your gear from now on. Once you're strapped into a caged car you really have to think about getting splashed with fuel. I loaded a guy into the life flight with his jeans fused to his thighs one time. It's the worst way to go.
Larry Pearson
So glad you are safe. I know you worked so hard building this car. I’m sure it will be stronger and better the next time you take it out on the track.

So sorry this happened to you, glad you're okay. Thank you for showing us what went down as to help others in the future!

So heavy 💔💔 glad you are okay!! Excited to see it go back together!! You guys rock!!
Simon Jeffery
When the fire started you jumped straight out with the ignition on, leaving the fuel to spray and pump out, then you jumped in and turned it off, the fire cut back heaps.blame the rail for sure, being hot made a huge difference, love the channel and keep it up mate 👍 cheers
Levi Wiens
Your reaction time when it happened was so good! I'm glad your okay!
Kyle White
I said it in the last video, but I'll say it again. So glad you're okay! A few more seconds in the car and it could've been REALLY bad. I know y'all will rebuild the C6 and come back better than ever! Just maybe put some fire resistant material on the firewall (both sides) and definitely do a fire suppression system like you said.
