I lived on a 50 acre lake for 19 years and one of the most relaxing things was to come home from work and sit on the back deck with an adult beverage and just watch the wildlife on and around the lake and let the stress of the day melt away. You are a lucky man.

Like so many others have said, what started as a passing interest has morphed into a subscription and eagerness to see the next episode. What you've done - and how you present it - is a captivating, refreshing escape from our daily lives. We've even bought into the named animals! How did you do that....well regardless, thanks again. It almost approaches meditation level of relaxation. It's so good to see that ecosystem in action - very therapeutic. Reminds us how simple life can be, and maybe what our place is amongst it all.

I finally got caught up on the full pond build and all I can say is it was an absolute pleasure to watch! Loved every episode and seeing the pond take shape from a small peanut farm to what it is today! Also if you still need names for the bass list, I think Icarus may be a great addition! The bass who flew too close to the sun (the lure). Keep up the great content and can’t wait to see all the future projects you have planned!

Really fun video this week. I love the idea of the mangroves, but my guess is that you’ll be re-thinking and re-engineering that situation. You’d almost need another island/mini-marsh to keep them happy. I do so enjoy the pleasure your family takes in interacting with nature. So far, so good, but I wonder if you will eventually have issues with the deer population surging beyond sustainability and into something that is problematic—especially since your coyotes seem content to chow mice and bugs.
Vor yearRick Bourne
I again suggest floating islands which serve as wetlands you can move around. Add solar panels so you can pump water up from some depth and water the plants with it so as to clean out fish waste. Drop down an aeration hose and stone to put air into the water and circulate it some. Put a lot of fine structure under it so small fish and fry can hide. You could put a small feeder on it. Make reasonably large, maybe 8 by 12 feet so fish can hide from Blue Herons under it. Maybe put a hole in the middle and have some water hyacinth, just so you can contain it (it can spread very quickly and become a pest).

I can’t get enough of these pond/wildlife videos. I gotta say I’m not one to get jealous but man lol you’ve got an amazing place there. My son and I love to fish and watch wildlife. I’m not sure if we’d ever get enough sleep if we had something like that lol.
Vor yearSpur Bronc
In that area its pretty apparent that the coyotes rarely attack adult deer so you probably have a healthy adult deer population and the coyotes rarely include adult deer on the menu. Probably are limited to fawns in that area. If this is the case then coyotes probably don't affect the deer population much at all. Very interesting videos and commentary!
Vor yearTygor3533
I think I say this in every video, but I’m so freaking jealous! You’re doing it right with the pond. Only difference is through some apex predators in there like musky. Maybe a few tigers so they can’t reproduce.

Vor yearEd Martin
Your mention and showing of the Toe-Dangler brought back an old memory. I accidently cast a lure over a limb one time and while immediately retrieving to recast, it got about 1 to 1.5 feet out of the water and about a 3/4 pound bass jumped out of the water and got it. This was in 1974 in about a 15 acre farm pond built by the government (CCC I think) during the depression near Oxford, Mississippi. I was amazed. I was 26, attending Ol' Miss, at the time and had been bass fishing since I was a toddler and had never seen a bass jump that high for a lure.

DELIGHTFUL ! - No other way to describe "Building a 5 Acre Pond" than DELIGHTFUL. Somehow you manage to whisk away all the stress and problems we face on a daily basis as we, the viewers get caught up in your nature's ongoing wonderland. You're appreciated far more than you'll ever know! It makes little difference how big a home you have, how nice a car you drive, or how much money you make. What really matters is how important you are in the lives of others and other living things. You’re doing very well, indeed!

Another awesome video! I've been watching since the backyard pond build. I think your better off planting those trees in a coconut planter or similar type planter / pot that allows the roots to grow through the the walls and bottom. Once the tress establish their roots into the lake bottom the pot and soil in it are honestly pointless.
