@vla1ne Please don't think I am suggesting the US should spend said money - every nation looks after its own interests and it is absolutley none of my business where the US spends. I was merely drawing attention to the comparative amounts involved. I totally take your point about 'mindset'. Would it be churlish of me to mention the defence budget of $800bn 2021 - could some of that fall into the catagory mentioned in your second para? Sorry - again, none of my business.

@HamiltonSurrey While it's a miniscule amount comparitively, the mindset is what matters. The debt wasn't made in a day, nor will it be paid in a day. Getting into the mindset that prevents wasteful spending is the only way we're going to be able to fix any aspect of the problem. This kind of spending would be wasteful even if we _weren't_ in debt. We have people and projects in america that could have used that money. Our economy should not have such a large flow of money going out, nor should we be expected to.

@vla1ne It's a matter of perspective. Against that level of debt the amount involved is like pissing in the ocean and being concerned you are going to make it saltier.
