I think the military complex passed on this one, because big part of it is direct cash to Ukraine. The owners of the country seem happy with Nato members orders, Finland alone bought F35 planes for 9 billion

As an American taxpayer I am tired of paying for everyone else when I worked my ass off! I’m also tired of paying our corrupt government! Just to make sure everyone knows the bill to help Ukraine with $40 billion dollars has passed. There were only 11 senators that said no and all the rest said yes. Look up your senators in your state who agreed to this outrageous funding with taxpayers money!
Vor MonatCindi McCullough
@knapper212 It is some next level stuff and they are blatantly disregarding the people of the US and other countries for that matter. Our government is out of control!

@Chandler Becker What I understand is that 40+ billion of help to Ukraine is nothing compared to the 30 trillion debt. It is just a couple of weeks of US annual military spending. Yes that is a good deal, that could help prevent a world war and in addition help many people to live in freedom and hope. Good on you for helping the less well off, but it is strange that you are soo uncompassionate to others outside your country.
Vor 17 TageChandler Becker
@AJC What part of "we're 30 trillion dollars in debt with inflation and cost of living rapidly increasing" do you not understand?
Vor 17 TageChandler Becker
@AJC No I wouldn't. Again an assumption. In fact I help them personally as an EMT, they're most of the patients I transport and take care of. Whether it's transporting them from rehab facilities to hospitals or from the streets from infections, edema, dehydration, you name it. I would love if the government increased more funding for our communities, homeless population, and mentally ill.
Vor 17 TageAJC
@Chandler Becker You would probably complain if the government tried to help the homeless and vulnerable. Representing America is exactly what helping Ukraine is (yeah, there are extreme Right and Left wing nuts who complain). So yeah nothing wrong with that. Do you have a point or do you just want to continue babbling on aimlessly?
Vor 17 TageChandler Becker
@AJC We a 30 trillion in debt with inflation rapidly rising. Go out in the streets and look at your fellow Americans. In the heat, homeless, drug addicted, killing each other. We have a crisis here aswell, we need to fix our country aswell. What's so wrong with representing America?

He did not explain why he is voting against this Bill. His explanation of why inflation in high, why food and fuel prices have increased, is insufficient, he is either honestly mistaken or deceitful. Higher food prices are caused by Russia blockading Ukrainian ports, Ukraine is the world's largest exporter of wheat and is an important exporter of other vital staples. Most of the exported food goes, used to go to Africa, the Middle East and a lesser extent Central and South America. The shortfall in food exports has increased global food prices to their highest point in history and threatens famines in Africa, the Middle East and hardship in Latin America. Ukraine's food exports are also used for animal feed, so meat is up too. They were also one of the world's largest exporters of nitrate fertilizer, crop yields drop 2 to 5-fold without fertilizer. This commodity price increase, increased US inflation, now at 8.5% (food prices are up 11%). Russia is weaponising food, threatening to cause, price hikes, food shortages, famines that will provoke waves of immigration and further damage the economy of Europe and the US (migrants will not, cannot get to Russia) Today, Russia announced that it will unblock Ukrainian ports, allow the export of food, if the West removes sanctions (a sign they are working). Russia is holding the world hostage, not just Ukraine, as the food stuck in Ukraine is the World's food. Helping Ukraine win, end this war as soon as possible, unblock and retains its ports, will reduce food prices, reduce inflation and in turn aid the US economy. A drop in inflation will benefit the US many times more than the $60 billion spent supporting Ukraine. There are 129 million households in the US, each spent an average of c. $60,000 per year (2020, pre inflation). If the war in Ukraine ends this summer, due to US support, and inflation decreased to 4% over the last half of the year i.e. Inflation halved, US households will save $1200 each, and $155 billion nationally. This is the polar opposite of what Senator Paul claims, so much so I don't understand if he is severely uninformed or deliberately deceitful. It might be explained by his myopic libertarian views, an inability to see the larger picture, an unwillingness to see how spending some money on Ukraine will, helps the US economy in the long term. The other factor of course is oil and gas. European countries and the US have imposed embargoes, refuse to pay for Russia in roubles, otherwise effectively paying for Ukraine's destruction. Again, ending this war as soon as possible to the benefit of Ukraine, ensuring Ukraine retains its ports (Odessa) and its economy / its farm land, as much as possible, ending the necessity for oil and gas embargoes, benefits the world's economy and in turn the US. Why can't he understand this simple equation? He then, for the rest of his speech, most of his speech, explains that it's a lot of money. That does not explain why the US should not aid Ukraine.

Most of the exported food goes, or used to go to Africa, the Middle East and a lesser extent Central and South America. This shortfall in food exports resulted in a massive increase in global food prices, often to their highest point in history. This in turn threatens famines in Africa, the Middle East and hardship in Latin America. Ukraine's food exports are also used for animal feed, so meat prices are up too. They were also one of the world's largest exporters of nitrate fertilizer, crop yields drop 2 to 5-fold without fertilizer. Russia is weaponising food, threatening to cause, price hikes, food shortages, famines that will provoke waves of immigration and further damage the economy of Europe and the US (migrants will not, cannot get to Russia, so they will sit pretty). If the war in Ukraine ends this summer, in part due to US support, and inflation decreased to 4% over the last half of the year i.e. Inflation halved, US households will save $1200 each, and $155 billion nationally in 6 months. This is the polar opposite of what Senator Paul claims, so much so I don't understand if he is severely uninformed or deliberately deceitful. It might be explained by his myopic libertarian views, an inability to see the larger picture, an unwillingness to see how spending some money helps the US economy in the long term. That does not explain why the US should not aid Ukraine. The best way to increase US government earning is via increase taxation, of the rich. However, Senator Paul repeatedly voted in favour of tax cuts for the rich and large profitable companies. @Peter Stafford It's the quote that matters to make the point, not the source that spoke it. Even the most evil dictator can say something wise from time to time. Rand Paul is doing the right thing, for the right reasons. Most of the rest of congress, is doing the wrong things that do not represent our countries needs, and most likley for ALL the wrong reasons, whatever they may be. Which makes this quote all the more relevant. I never thought I would see the day, when those who accuse conservatives, or GOP or those on the right, of being fascists, warmongers, racists, etc ... when those same accusers are the ones ACTUALLY supporting NeoNazis in the regime we helped place in Ukraine, 8 years ago! This tactic of projecting what they do onto the other party, to obscure accountability from the proper shoulders, has worked for them so well, been so consistently used over the past couple of years (probably a lot more than that), that I think it will be their undoing as well. They don't know when to STOP doing it, it has become so habitual, they are fast becoming the "hated" party with the bad reputation on the wrong side of history, the party that used to preach compassion is causing pain callously, spewing lies of socialism and "for the common good" when they are the party of GREED. But by this point, I think EVERY ONE OF US should be able to see that the corruption is at the top of both parties via the lobbying, revolving doors, soros backed positions all up and down the ballots at various levels, and obviously planned very well by some very intelligent people with many resources available, including advanced modeling and the time to run them for a while, probably since 2016. HRC may have conceded (after her screaming fit) in the first day, but went on to keep talking about stolen election, and recommending to Biden "do not concede no matter what!". It seems much more obvious now, that they did cheat in 2016 like they have so many times before but got caught with their pants down by the surprise number of Trump votes they did not expect, when We the People said "no more establishment status quo", no more SWAMP. Some of those very people might have been patriots once upon a time, making sure no single President or party could steer the country off of the tracks and into ruin, but they lost their mind during the 4 years of resistance and undermining the Trump admin, spewing lies about him at maximum output, trying to get something to stick to boot him otu of office, and they did get many to believe them, or pretend to believe them to help the narrative, but they lost track of the majority, as Trump increased his voter base in every demographic, EXCEPT for white males(? allegedly) the very demographic they constantly attack, accused him and also conservatives with any dissenting opinion, as being White supremacists... I'll lay you 10 to 1 the majority of the illegal ballots we uncovered are listed as "white males" ... I'm pretty sure enough data is available and will be released soon that I will be able to do that database query myself to answer that question. And then be able to track those over 2000 Mules, and 50,000 more, through the 4,000,000 minutes of video to answer the debunkers with their own debunking proof! There is a lot missing, which represent several MORE election crimes from 2020. But even so, that is 66,666 minutes, 2777 days, 7.6 YEARS worth of video in raw minutes! Another reason it's going to take a minute to do, and longer than anyone wants, and is one of the REASONS why the video footage is required by law in most states. (should be ALL States for all drop boxes) Despite this, Federalizing a bunch of the process is not the answer, it just creates more weak links to be exploited as seen by certain AGs, SoSs, Election officials, etc The same goes for MOST of what Congress and this Admin have suggested be Federalized, it's either centralizing stuff for the globalists to more easily takeover/capture, or for government to expand their overreach even further, when it is already alarmingly too big, out of control, immoral, corrupted, failing us, more problems that help comes from it.

Vor MonatPotters Ground
@Peter Stafford While the exact origin of the quote “I am the Storm” is not known, the essence of it does keep showing up in many different places. The origin of the quote “I am the Storm” can also be assumed in the time where Jesus calms a great storm, found in passages Mt. 8:23-27 and Mk. “Fate whispers to the warrior, ‘You cannot withstand the storm.’ The warrior whispers back, ‘I am the storm.”

@Xavier G Nevertheless, we know what you mean. It's OK. US bankrupt/ avoid to fail and hoping that can repay the debt/ as time goes by too much fail and US$ less worth/ other countries around the world will seek revenge (coz their currency against to US$). Got it.
Vor MonatStrict NonConformist
@Xavier G Rand Paul is doing what he can to forestall that: it’s clear to him and all those paying attention that the US is overextended, badly, and we are on the precipice of that reboot cycle. Rand Paul clearly has learned enough of history to at least attempt to avoid repeating the cycle that destroys civilizations, empires, of which going bankrupt goes slowly at first, and then very quickly in the end, and then a revolution/reset of some kind, with massive turmoil, however it happens. When Greece financially collapsed, there was a major difference compared to the coming US reckoning date: Greece had no influence militarily or financially, having no capacity to do much either way, including not being a reserve currency. It appears there are many others in congress that recognize we’re going over the deep end, but they don’t see that as a problem, but a solution, which is very evil. They’re voting to spend all our resources on causes that don’t help legal US citizens, all while locking us down in various ways. For example, why would we, supposedly the most powerful economy, have baby formula shortages? Why, when we have the natural resources and we were energy-independent 2 years ago, would we be running into diesel fuel shortages? It seems improbable that those in power can be this grossly incompetent, it seems far more intentional and planned.

I dearly wish we had more people in the swamp like Senator Paul! He truly cares about America and knows we cannot just keep giving away money we don’t have.

Thanks for putting this in perspective. Mortgage our kids and future while we can’t even pay for our own country!
Vor MonatJoann Ostrander
It's good to hear an intelligent voice against sending more aid to Ukraine. We have Americans starving in America dud to the extraordinary cost of gas
Vor MonatPenelope
The only one with any sort of common sense and guts to say noooo. Wish we had more Rand Paul's
Vor MonatLinda Lloyd
Thank you Senator Paul! Maybe others will follow your lead!
Vor MonatMagic Man
When your country is 30 TRILLIONs (that's 30000000000000 US Dollars) in debt, blocking a single dollat to any other countries is nothing but a common sense 😂😂😂
Vor Monatvla1ne
@HamiltonSurrey sorry, a number of people here seemed to be putting forth the idea that the US was responsible for other countries, mistook you for one of them.
Vor MonatHamiltonSurrey
@vla1ne Please don't think I am suggesting the US should spend said money - every nation looks after its own interests and it is absolutley none of my business where the US spends. I was merely drawing attention to the comparative amounts involved. I totally take your point about 'mindset'. Would it be churlish of me to mention the defence budget of $800bn 2021 - could some of that fall into the catagory mentioned in your second para? Sorry - again, none of my business.
Vor Monatvla1ne
@HamiltonSurrey While it's a miniscule amount comparitively, the mindset is what matters. The debt wasn't made in a day, nor will it be paid in a day. Getting into the mindset that prevents wasteful spending is the only way we're going to be able to fix any aspect of the problem. This kind of spending would be wasteful even if we _weren't_ in debt. We have people and projects in america that could have used that money. Our economy should not have such a large flow of money going out, nor should we be expected to.
Vor MonatHamiltonSurrey
@vla1ne It's a matter of perspective. Against that level of debt the amount involved is like pissing in the ocean and being concerned you are going to make it saltier.
Vor Monatvla1ne
@HamiltonSurrey how so? You have to make sure every penny matters, if you are working to get rid of debt.

The Ukraine issue is very urgent and serious, and in the long run it also relates to the security and international leadership of the United States.

Wrong. In the long run, aid to Ukraine is in the national interest of the United States.

Yes, we are already in debt. We can't spend $40B. Help Ukraine, yes, how bout 5 billion. The politicians want to look good and up it to 40 right off the bat. He said it all correct. Thank you Rand Paul.

Thank You for standing up!!

I am a Democrat & can honestly say I am proud of Rand Paul for speaking what we all have been saying for years ! If any party does what is right for AMERICANS, I'm all for it. I'm not a Democrat that hates Republicans,I'm a Democrat that wants to help the middle class. But right now,my party is CRIPPLING the United States. Nothing to do with race, gender,or views.... JUST WHAT IS RIGHT !

Watching from France. How I wish I could hear the same discourse in my country.
Vor MonatRon Smith
@Joshua Smith Thank You Josh ! As you can see,I did & won't even respond to those comments. They can have their opinion, but I didn't make a statement to get into a political war,it was just my thoughts & most just want to battle the words. It's petty,& I don't get drawn into that kind of stuff. I just laugh it off, because coming back with a comment on any of them would end nowhere ! Just agree to disagree....

These are the same people who gave themselves a 20 percent pay raise in 2021 and a 21 percent raise in 2022. They are likely heavily invested in US defense stocks.
